I did this as all the modules I have seen so far only give you partial options or are commercial. All the code is generated automatically and there is no need for any extra components or plugins.
The default settings are those that are set up by the Adsense for Search setup wizard on the Google site. Should you wish to customise it you are able to do so with all the options available to you on the Google site.
The module gives you:
• Control over the appearance of the search box as on Google Adsense for Search Setup Wizard.
• Control over the appearance of the search results as on Google Adsense for Search Setup Wizard.
• Display in your own site without installation of any other modules, plugins or components, matching the color scheme and in any module position you wish.
• Default settings all set ready for use. Just add your Google customer ID and set the module on your page.
• Enter your own button text.

v1.1.0 - 13 May 2008
• Added parameter to enter multiple IPs to suppress the Google Publisher ID when the browser is viewed by any of those IPs. The search will work as normal but will not send the Publisher ID to Google, when originating from these IPs, instead it will use "pub-0000000000000000". This allows you to do testing and to use your own search without being deemed to break the Adsesne Policies.
• Removed documentation from the description area and added a help file accessible by a link in the parameters section.
• Released a version for Joomla 1.0
Testing and feedback for Joomla 1.0 version would be appreciated as I only have a local server for testing purposes which may behave differently to a remote one.

Very easy to install and very low in maintenance.
There are some parts to improve like a text inside search box or google logo as background inside de search box.
Strange are the extra break at the end of the search results.
But hey!!! It's free!

Very nice and useful extension, but what about J1.0.X? Will we see a version for J1.0.X?

I have only been working with Joomla! since Feb this year and have only got to grips with v1.5 so far. If I have time I will take a look at v1.0 also, but can not guarantee when that will be. I will let you know if I do.
