Report

I find that this extension one of those that reflect the most the idea that is behind open-source and in general GPL distribuited products. One day i looked through nearly all 4k extensions on this site and the one that most attracted my attention was this. I really appreciate the work the open source community is doing (i am refferring not just to Joomla) and i think everyone who make use of open source products could, at least, give 'em some credits.

This is why when i installed this component i was very happy than i don't need to hardcode credits anymore.

I gave it some modding. I did an italian translation if anyone needs it and i introduced another column "license" that shows the tag from the xml file, links it to GPL o GPLv2 or if it has in xml than links it to that. That's all.
Drop me a line if you want this mod.

The component is nice and very useful but it contains some bugs. The bugs are excluding some components/modules/thems/plugins in the list because the J!Credits component is looking for an xml-file with a defined name, in case of an component the name of the component, and if this xml-file is not found the component will not be shown on the credits list. I have allready fixed this bug and mailed the corrected version to the author.
But all in all J!Credits is a component I can recommend it all users of Joomla. And the best of all is that it's free :-)

Thanks Daniel. I was aware of the xml file issue but hadn't taken the time to fix it yet. I will review your files and should have a corrected version posted soon.

In addition, as you have asked in your email, a native version is in the works. Originally planned as a complete re-work, the native version will be completed first with the re-worked version to be completed next.

Excellent! This should be a 'mandatory' install or hard-coded into Joomla! :) Just my opinion, but I believe it is only the proper thing to do to provide recognition to all those who made our sites possible. I inform my clients in advance that this information will be included in their site and to date, no objections.
A snap to install (remember to turn on Legacy Mode for 1.5.x), configure and produces a fantastic page; exactly what I needed to replace a whole lot on manual work on my 'Credits' page. Can't wait for the 1.5 native!

This is absolutely wonderful. It generates a perfect page of credits for the site. The programmer is extremely responsive to issues and when my site had some poorly programmed extensions that generated warning messages, the component was modified in less than an hour to skip over extensions that didn't follow the exact Joomla protocol. Now that's service.

This component should be on everyone's site to give credit to all the coders who work so hard to provide enhancements to our Joomla sites. Thanks for a great component!!

As I said installation and configuration was a breeze!
Good work.
No errors on install. Previously, I was listing credits in my "About" page, but this handy extension does it all automatically. There is some redundancy in the template section that needs cleaning, and would be nice if one could edit the output without going to the .php file.

New users could use a bit of "How-to" information upon install. For example, how to integrate this into an existing "About" page.

Nonetheless, this should be built into Joomla! as it helps promote the entire programming community.

Well done!

First of all, thank you very much. I would be remiss if I didn't pass some of the credit along to the original developers at The Joomling Club.

I agree with you that a how-to should be available and that the intro text should be editable without going into the php file. I intend to make that a part of the next full version which will also be 1.5 native.

How to integrate into another page is something I hadn't considered. That would likely require a module instead of a full component. I will take this into advisement as a feature request.

Thanks again!

Component installs perfectly and produces an attractive page. It even pointed out by an error line on the page an extension that I had uninstalled incorrectly. I like this extension and recommend it.
