ACLs can be created for individual users or for a whole Joomla group (registered, author, editor, publisher or manager). You can specify what actions (insert, read, update) a user (or a Joomla group) can do on the articles belonging to a Joomla section. There is also limited menu integration: users will only see menu items pointing to articles they have access to.
A global configuration parameter of the component allows you to specify the default ACL policy in terms of individual actions (insert, read, update), this way you can use Simple ACL for both "mostly private" or "mostly public" websites.
The component is very easy to use and can be installed or remove without changing the core files or DB tables of Joomla (hack-free solution).
Simple ACL for Joomla 1.5 is "free" as in "speech" but not as in "beer", it is only available in bundle with commercial professional paid support, while the lincense remains a free software licence: AGPL V.3

If you are looking for an easy way to set up user access control then you have found it...
With Simple ACL you can create each user to have access for each section to create(insert), retrieve(read), update and delete. I wanted my writers to be able to update their own articles, something they could not do without this. The only thing the authors(writers) can't do is delete.
I felt I got great support with Simple ACL. When I had a question, I always got an answer back the next morning.
Thank you for a great product!

Just a quick note to say how impressed I am with this extension. It handles simple access controls without problems and is ideal for my website with about 50 users. I can now decide who exactly can edit what. E.g. everyone of my users has a personal homepage which only they can edit.
Also, technical support for the extension has been very good. email replies are almost instant and bugs are fixed within days.
In its current version the extension runs very smoothly and is completely trivial to install and configure. It is also easy and flawlessly removable.
Having tried all other alternatives availble from this website, I can say that this one is by far the best and well worth the small amount of money it costs.e

With this plugin and its component, you can manage sections and users. You can setup which users has access to read, edit or update a specific section and its contents. Single articles cannot be managed, but behind there's an available, helpful and professional support. Try to ask them..
Thanks for your work guys.

I tried many other ACL extensions including JUGA and JACL, but neither were easy to use or install for what i wanted them to do.
I was looking for a tool to allow different users different edit rights. For example, my pool team only allowed to edit the pool team pages. Simple ACL does this by having a default ACL for all users then specific ACL's for each user. The only downside to this tool is you cant specify an ACL to a group.
The tool itself took me seconds to install and set up, and if you ever wanted to remove it, you can remove it safely (not like JACL for example).
