Good and easy to use ticker. Installed and configured very quickly. Just need to locate CSS to get the border colurs right.

This is the 5th news ticker I have tried all of them failed to work for various reasons, this is no exception.

With this one it just displays the default message "there is no news" I know I have set it up with the right cat ID as it works in other modules.

Hello, How can you have tried 5 popular news tickers and none of them work for you? You must be doing something incorrectly.
Perhaps a request for support might have been your first point of call rather than just providing a negative rating. With 32 votes and 16 reviews (all of them good), and this extension having been listed for over 2 years, how can it not work?
Sorry to sound defensive, but I don't agree with your rating.

replaced a buggy roknews rotator with this extensions. one thing i found was that at least for FF3 to fix the issue where the items displayed shifted to the right, there was a quote missing before Style from the default.php on line 24. once i added that it started displaying correctly.

Installed easily and up and working within minutes. Very nice module.

Had to apply the fix to default.php as suggested by jpcabrales - thanks!

I have one question for the developers:

When I duplicate the module and have 2 versions running on the same page, only one of them rotates the articles, while the other just displays the first article. Is there a way to have 2 tickers running on the same page? I'm using FF3.

Thanks.
Owner's reply

Hello, thanks for your message. We have not ever tested running two modules, it may be a script conflict issue.
We are working on next version, so will test out fully to try to help you out.

I was really amazed by this simple but pretty module. But after I played with it on my testsite I found those bugs, that disallowed me to use it on public servers:

-Opera&Firefox 3 does not place links the new one over the old one (as IE&Safari does) but new after old. Some other people decribed this problem below better than me. May be it is because I use mootools also for another module on page. Amplify's homepage demo wirks fine in FF3.

-Cannot disable label. It still shows the separator between (empty) label and content area of ticker. Try to set empty label text, set Label Width = 0 and look at left side of ticker.

-I also found some problems with background color, but this may be caused by some bug in my CSS's. It was funny: IE&SAFARI=white background+white text, but on Opera&FF3=black bckgnd+white text. Anyway, my other modules work fine.

That's why I had to say goodbye to this module. Hope this helps developers to improve this really interesting module.

Thanks for pointing these things out. We will be releasing a new version with full transparent images, colour choices and other extended options. For now a white background works best for this module.
With regards to your other issues, there may be conflicts with different template css, it is very hard to cater for all environments and scripts/css running on them. Your feedback is useful though to help us to improve this module, thanks.

On a fresh install of Joomla! 1.5.6 and only this module added, the display works fine on Internet Explorer 7.

But on Mozilla Firefox 3, the title of the next item appears just after the end of where the previous article has been.

I had to add style="position:absolute;" on line 24 of default.php to achieve the desired results, like IE7's.

Other than that, the extension works great and doesn't take any time at all to figure out how to use it.
Owner's reply

Hi, thanks for highlighting this issue since FF3 has been out, we have included this fix in now in v.1.3.

Download to install was less than 5 minutes configureation was under 10 Minutes and this was merely slowed down by the level of content I greedly wanted to display!

Absolutly does what it says on the tin it's a very good example of intutive design in the backend where everything is as expected.

Very nice ticker, beautiful effect.
I only notice an overlapping problem with firefox. After the first loop news fading-in/out tend to loose sync, so you can see two or more news toghether.
Owner's reply

Hello, this will be a conflict with some other scripts (modules etc) running javascript on your site. If you use the default 1.5 install and template, you will see it works fine on all available versions of Firefox, including FF3.
Hope this helps.

It does what it says and it does not add extra javascripts, it uses the J 1.5 mootools.

Hi,
this is one of my favorite modules.
just some suggestions for improvement (didn't find a forum to post them): articles are shown although they were deleted, not activated and even if publishing time is over. and if you choose a section and category with no articles in it, the default message won't be shown.
Owner's reply

Hello, Module has been updated to address the unpublished issues, default message issue will be fixed today also.
Thanks for your feedback. Amplify.

..it does not pull out the latest news properly. It just pulls out all news out of the selected category/section.
Owner's reply

Hello, Thank you for your comments, please note that as of today we have adjusted the module so it only picks up the latest items in sections and categories, to the number of your choice.
New Download now available at Amplify.
