JoomDoku - Joomla DokuWiki Search Plugin Plugin

DokuWiki is a standards-compliant, simple-to-use wiki which allows users to create rich documentation repositories. It provides an environment for individuals, teams and companies to create and collaborate using a simple yet powerful syntax that ensures data files remain structured and readable outside the wiki.

This search plugin allows one to use the standard Joomla! search module to also perform a lookup in the DokuWiki pages.

Report

This plugin installed quite easily and was simple to configure. After installation, it found pages in my wiki just like advertised. Unfortunately, I had three problems - the sum of which caused me to uninstall rather than investigate.

1) The search results page was formated correctly inside the dokuwiki wrapper but there was a PHP warning issued regarding use of deprecated call-time pass-by-reference.

2) I use SEF urls with Joomla's native SEO setting. The url on links for hits was not fashioned correctly and the wiki page did not display in the wrapper. That is, when clicking on a link in the list of hits, my Joomla page with navigation was replaced by a full-screen dokuwiki page with no navigation. (At least the browser has a Back button!)

3) I use the extremely wonderful auto-login plugin which creates a dokuwiki cookie when you log into Joomla. For some reason, this search plugin deleted the cookie (or accessed the wiki outside the domain of the cookie). Whichever, I found that I was not logged in when I attempted to view search results.

This might work better if you do not use SEO and have a public wiki.
This is a very interesting piece of software ... Joomla! longs for a great wiki. Please please consider adding a jfusion plugin (www.jfusion.org) to get Joomla! user authentication to work with DokuWiki !!! Predator released a Joomla! 1.0x integration of DokuWiki called JD-Wiki which may serve as an example.
