It worked and was easy. Maybe in the future a template feature could be added and some more tags that can be placed in emails besides name and the unsubscribe url. Love it.

Who said we aren't going to connect with JomSocial? Keep your eyes open, it wont be long!

This component has saved me so much time and anguish! It's fantastic. I had migrated over from another newsletter system which was put together with sticky tape - CCNewsletter is solid and functional. I was able to import all my contacts from my previous newsletter system like a breeze! Not to mention their friendly and helpful support!
A very good newsletter Extension which I was exactly looking for. The module works fine to add new subscribers. But if there is an option to redirect the page to our own 'Thank you' message page after subscription, on module, instead of the default component thank you page, it will become an awesome extension.

The author doesn't offer any support or bug reporting.
The module has some major problems with SEF and caching enabled. Therefore, if you plan to use this features, do not use this component.

The development is very slow. I think this module is at the end of the lifecycle.
Owner's reply

Your review is only partly correct. To inform other users please let me explain.

Until the end of April we did not give support to our free extension. Now we have opened the forum!

On the "Contact Us" page we noted users can always send us bug reports!

We could not recreate the SEF and cache issues. If anyone else is having these issues, please post them on the forum.

Yes, development might have looked slow, but we were working on many new features in 1.0.4 beta.

ccNewsletter is not at the end of a life cycle. Its only at the beginning, and we are preparing now for faster development.

Its working very good. The configuration is very simple. The use is also very easy.

But you can handle only one newsletter. So if you need to have two newsletters because of two different languages you can't use ccNewsletter therefore at the moment.

When I was searching for a newsletter component, most of the extensions I found was either proprietary ones or old components which required legacy mode. After looking at ccNewsletter I was very impressed. It was doing its job very nicely and was very easy to use for my client. One additional advantage of the component is its MVC based code. Thanks to that, I wrote a user plugin and achieved auto-subscription upon registration in 4 lines. Apart from a few untranslated description texts I couldn't find anything bad about it.

Overall, it's a fantastic job. Thanks very much to developers.

Thanks! Can you contact us at info [AT] chillcreations.com about the plugin, we would love to add that to the ccNewsletter 1.0.4 package which we are now finishing.

Awesome..very simple and efficient. works as advertised..

Only thing and very important feature would be to be able to Redirect the user to a page of admin's choice after they sign up for newsletter..Can you please see if you can implement this in settings area?

I was looking for a newsletter component for my 'Virtuemart ready' website and found ccNewsletter.
Worked perfectly! Its built for joomla 1.5, supports VM, installation and configuration took 5 secs, easy to understand/use.
I tried Yacn and letterman but they are both complicated (to me) and require Legacy plugin (no joomla 1.5 supported)

I downloaded this newsletter com and mod and it works great. I had an issue that I couldn't find in the forums and gor a response in minutes after sending an email. Easy to install and easy to use. Thank you for ccNewsletter...

Ok so the component is relatively new and some documentation is not there yet BUT what an absolutely fantastic component.

For any person developing a Virtuemart site this component is a MUST. This is the ONLY component (that I could find) that integrates perfectly with Joomla 1.5.x native and Virtuemart 1.1.x

It works straight away, the instructions to integrate with Virtuemart are crystal clear and any person who knows what Virtuemart is and how to configure it, will understand these guys have done a great job!!!

I have not completed extensive testing but from what I have done so far it works great!

I am really looking forward to next releases with additional functionality (and documentation :P).

I for one make a pledge to contribute the Greek translation files! (I can't seem to find any donation buttons on their site)...

Hi,

I reported an error today and got a reply immediately :-) That's great. The team is looking after the error and when it turns out to be a bug, it will be fixed and released in the new version which seems to be almost ready.

The error: [unsubscribe link] doesn't work in the confirmation mail a user receives when he/she subscribed to a newsletter.
I downloaded and installed the mod and com. I had issues using the newsletter registration mod. In the end I gave up without getting it to work successfully. Support tried to help but in the end I didn't get a resolution. Responses were slow and I didn't have the time to wait.

I am not confident in the support or the development to try again with another site.
Good starting point with the integration but somethings need to be done to tidy it up.

When registering with virtuemart and newsletter is selected it is created as a new user in the newsletter component with an enabled status.

If the account is deleted the newsletter entry remains.

If you have the newsletter box in the account maintenance and tick off for newsletter is is not removed from the newsletter account.

If you did not register initially and go to virtuemart account maintenance and tick newsletter to on, the entry is not added as a new subscriber.

As I said a good idea but a fair way to go.

Damian

Please try the new 1.0.4 beta, we have improved the VM integration.

Pros

This really nice component very easy to use and to setup with some nice features which I was very impressed had everything I needed.

Con's

I wanted to use the module "normal" layout which will be the most commonly used but, the layout looks very amateurish, their no padding between text fields and their both out of align. It doesn't give a good impress for people using your site.

If module more looked more professional it would be perfect!
Owner's reply

Module layout now improved in 1.0.4 beta.

This like it will work for me but it wasn't exactly what I wanted so here are the features I added today,
1) Optionally restrict access to component from guests. If user is not logged on then they can't use subscribe/unsubscribe. A guest can still activate via activate link. Unsuccessful attempts just get the CC_MSG_UNSUBS_FAILED and the view is "remove" (i.e. I haven't created a new view). My new site has no guests - only registered users.
2) Add a pending status to the module. When a user is unsubscribed but disabled or is newly created and hasn't activated (i.e. disabled) then when you view the modules I can now optionally make it say to the user that they are pending rather than presenting the same subscribe form (which was confusing).
Overall I think it'll work fine.

I like simple newsletters like this one, but...

The module for subscription is very ugly. It should be a regular one with name/email fields (or available) in normal html.

The module "name/email/subscribe" text is not automatic translated for other languages.

There is no information to new subscribers they will receive an activation link. But they will

I just want to thank the developers of these com and mod: works as a charm. I love the redirect page - makes sense to me! A little modification of the style, and it sits in my Joomla as it was born there! Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work!
