Problem:
Multiable db (Joomla, Mediawiki) that uses latin1 ISO-8859-1

Solution:
1) Use iconv under linux, after an export of the db, and the upload to a new db.
And change the the collation under phpmyadmin
(been trying to get the time, for a long time...never happend)

2) Make a backup of your db, upload it to a new database, and apply this tool, and presto 1-2-3 all done.

I have nothing but positive words for this tool, easy, quick and it didn't break anyting :-)
It fixed my Joomla db and also mediawiki dbs.

This is a wonderful little script which works fabulous simple and changes the collation of your entire database in less than a minute.

Highly advised for people who need to change collation.....No need for mysql knowledge. you only need your

* database name
* database username
* database-password
* new collation required

enter in a little form in your browser (upload a folder to joomla root of 16K and you are done)

note change the name of the folder into something easier such as "changing_collation"

the only thing you do than is run the script in your browser: http://www.yoursitename/changing_collation/index.php

Very good!
