Important Note : Please Read documentation carefully before contacting support.
Did you know that you can embed PDF files in content just like you put flash and other media? Well, this mambot does exactly that - it allows you to embed PDF files in your content. You can load an external PDF file in your content very easily using this mambot/plugin.
Please follow the Instructions below before contacting us for support.
1. Install & Enable the Plugin.
2. Place the code
{pdf=http://xxx.com/files/pdf/yourfile.pdf|500|300}
where 500 & 300 are widths and heights respectively in your content where you need to embed the PDF.
3. Make sure that the pdf url that you place in the mambot code is not treated as a html link by the Joomla Editor you are using ( If it turns blue with a underline, then it is being treated as a link. )
** The Plugin wont work if this happens.
To avoid this place the code in HTML mode of the editor rather than while using the WYSIWYG mode. Or turn the editor off before using the plugin.
We added this small Instruction sheet as we got a lot of requests having the same issue.
Please note that it will only work where the pdf embedding is supported by client side browsers. For example i have to download adobe's plugin to make it work on my Firefox in Linux ( Ubuntu )
Most windows machines will have this installed when they install the adobe reader.
Do consider giving this plugin a review if you find it useful.
Editor's Note
- This extension requires registration to download.

I would have never figured this plugin out if it were not for the reviews! OK. Great Plugin! Nice work on the code. The documentation is a little poor though. This is what it took for me to do it.
1) Go to your Plugins/Content folder and change the CHMOD to 777
2) Download and install the plugin
3) Download and install JCE editor
4) Disable Tiny MCE plugin
5) Enable JCE editor.
6) Choose JCE in Global Configurations
7) Post code into a Joomla article
It's a little more difficult than they say, but OMG, in less than 10 minutes, VOILA!

I am not the sharpest tool so I has the link wrong and the files in the wrong folder and the wrong extension on the pdf.
Use images/stories/pdf/...your bits.pdf and you can not go wrong. Unless you rename the pdf files and forget the .pdf.
This is a beautifully simple plugin. It's we humans who need some help.
fck editor, toggle "source" button and use .. in html and you are good to go.

Works so easily and displays so nicely! This adds such a professional look when you absolutely must use a PDF on a site. Thanks so much for having a solution to my problem.

This solved a problem with Joomlas PDF not rendering tables. Now I just create my document in MS Word and convert to PDF and upload it. One short line of code is inserted into my editor with the proper path and "voila".
Thank you so much for this plugin it is wonderful!
I would say that this is a must for anyone having issues with Tables not rendering properly in Joomla PDF.

I've been looking for something like this for a while. Excellent job! By the way, did you know your download link is broke.

Hello,
I have updated the link.. But note that will only work if you are logged in to our site. Its bug with Remository. Soon we are moving to Joomla 1.5 ( Long pending !) with Doc man as the doc manager . Then all this will be solved

I had a little trouble installing the plugin, then I realized I needed to make my web server's plugins/content directory writeable (chmod 777), after that it was just as the author instructed. Like other folks, I was up and running with my first pdf embedded in an article in less that 10 minutes. I am so happy to have this plugin, because I really didn't want to create a giant table for all the data that my pdf contained, thank you Tekdi! Excellent work!

Great module!
But, only I think then will have a root directory parameter for documents in plugin section administration, for internals links (no http)
Sorry my english.

Just tested this plugin on Joomla 1.0.10. It works smoothly!
It seems that this is also the ONLY plugin which can embed PDF documents in Joomla content. And it is free!
A Million thanks to the author!

I recently installed Joomla and am developing a business website. I have tried a few CMS without much success. This is the first extension/plugin that I installed. It worked flawlessly. As others have pointed out, simply follow the instructions. I did find that my older version of foxit did not support firefox as an embedded plugin, but as another said that is the client side issue, I installed the latest version of foxit, and avoided once again having to install adobe's reader.

What an excellet component! This does exactly what it says it will do and really makes insertion of PDFs easy. Thank you for a great extension!

I exchanged several emails with Tekdi Web Services because I could not get this plug-in to work. It turns out that I had simply not enabled it.
I'm pleased that they took as much time as they did to try to solve the problem for a FREE plug-in.
And on top of that, it does exactly what is claimed and is trivial to set up.
Being very new to Joomla (I'm doing my first site), I thought I was misunderstanding something really basic in their documentation. I think they should explicitly talk about embedding the PDF into an Article, instead of just using the generic "content". Just for us new people.
I'd really like to be able to express sizes as percents. I'm told it is a feature request for the next version.

i am new to joomla and design tekdi was exceptional with thier support. several emails on thier part to get me up and running.
i really like the look the plugin provider---like a wrapper--except adobe pdf..
for text i belevie this to be an outstanding tool.. i was attempting to place an indesign graphic pub and could not get the file small enough for plugin to render the file quick enough.
this is not a short coming of the plugin just my file size..
great job guys and thanks for the excellent support

It works great!! And Tekdi has great customer service even for beginners, like me.
I used the upload in Media manager in JCE Editor to put my pdf files in a subfolder of images/stories, noting the url, even if I was not going to embed the pdf in an article. Then I put this url in the link box without the http://blah,blah,blah. I also selected EXTERNAL LINK, no matter whether you have the file sitting right under your nose.
I am in seventh heaven!! Caroline Poage

The creator of this plugin was 100% supportive all the way!
The plugin itself works like a gem! Those trying to keep their site professional and clean with PDF files, install this plugin!

I am a complete novice when it comes to websites and techy stuff so was daunted at the prospect at having to type in codes and what-not.
On my performance website I now have a Curriculum Vitae section which links to my CV as a pdf file. Great !
Once I figured that I could load the pdf file into the backend under "Media Manager" just as if it was an image, it then had a url which could be placed in the code, just as was explained on the Mambot download page. I just did what they said. Placed the code in HTML and 'bingo' - it works.
This will save me so much updating hassle now, when I want to update my resume with new performances. All I need do is update the original pdf file, re-upload it into the back-end and it's ready to roll. Highly recommended, even for technical ditzes like me ! :)

VM has an 'Unlink button' in the edittor, so thos not familiar with html can just hi-lite the text and click it.
I am having trouble seleting the the correct width as it views slightly differently on different browsers and PC's.
However, it is reasonably good and definately easy to use.

Hi It is an idea we have to integrate a editor button to make this easier. :)
It simply uses a embed pdf tag. .Try using percentage widths ( we havent tested this but should work)
