JoomShopping

- This extension requires registration to download.
It can be used for selling different products. There are also functions for selling musik files or videos. Products can shown with text, pictures and also audio or video files can be added to description. Other features: Customized PDF Bills. Modules for easy integration of payment providers and also import and export of datas are available.
The shop is special for those users who have also the target to get a good listing in Searchengines because JoomShopping was created from Webdesigner with many years of Searchengine Optimization.
The sourcecode is written in high quality for easy adding features and for stability and high security.
Supportforum you find on the website and there is also video installation manual for free of charge.
The support forum is not as bad as some say. Not too friendly but short, factual and fast.
All in all its a very powerful and flexible extension. Thanks to the developers!
Just one point to critzize is the price of the link free version.
I'dont have problems to pay for good work but 199 Euro is not small money for just removing the copyright link...
The eCommerce functions are really quite impressive and it is apparent, that this extension has now been in development for years.
One drawback (which costs them one star in the rating) is their support philosophy: You are on your own, unless you pay. Now, their fees are absolutely reasonable compared with the professional market. That is not the point.
The point is, the amount of information that they put out for free is almost zero. Almost no info in the changelogs. In their forum (simply take a look) they answer mostly with 1 to 3 words and keep pointing to the same docs that did not help.
Get me right: I can live with that. I just think its fair that you know before installing this that you are on your own unless you pay! And that means you should have some development skills and tools and time at your hands (or money).
I personally have been using it for 6 months now. I had an update problem once (you have to use the update feature of the component and special update files), got no help other than telling me what I did wrong and had to spent some hours to get everything working again.
(Turns out many people make this update mistake, yet there is no clear warning!)
As you can see, I am absolutely rating this as "Good", based on the features and functionality (which in the end is what counts).
I just wanted to point to that support topic, which you have to be aware of (check also other ratings here and take a look at their forum).
The product itself is great. Easy to use, powerful for most mid range shops and free if you can put up with the copyright. We've all got to earn a crust and I bought a licence to support them.
But Jeez. Its so painful to deal with them it's like pulling teeth.
There is no change log ever, and the forum gets single or two line responses only.
Today I posted that there are users out there who are loyal, who want to see the product succeed but who would like more communication from the developers. Very supportive post even mentioning that I'd bet there would be users out there willing to man a forum for them. It also asked them why they didn't inform their customers that their new version, 3.4, has "many changes" (a reply to another a user when he asked what changes have been made) and these changes have broken two of my sites. Thank Akeeba!
I got a two line response from them.
"Download 2 version JoomShopping (3.3.2 - 3.4.0) Use Total comander for compare "template""
My reply was deleted. And it wasn't rude it just said EXACTLY MY POINT! 50'000 users have to compare templates or you post one change log.
Deleted.
So if you can put up with monosyllabic responses, changes where you have to guess what they've done and where you will have to spend time recoding all your template mods, use it. It's a fine product. Just make sure that you use Akeeba back-up and I'd suggest that you mirror your live site with a dev server. Try out any upgrades there first.
These guys could go places but with VM2 out and Hikashop offering outstanding support just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into with JoomShopping.
Easy to install and configure and Joomla 1.7 native with multi language native support (no need for Joomfish or the sort). I highly recommend it if you don't need all those extras which come with VirtueMart. Give it a try and see if it has everything you need.
The shop is really good, the lack of being able to add menu items for seperate categories and to remove the link for $199 is not. So for that reason I've moved on...so sa :(
Customizing the layout is quite difficult as you have to change PHP and CSS files to create your own template.
This is not always working well.
Biggest problem of this solution is the support as you can read in many other reviews.
It's okay to say the shop can be used for free as long as you keep the back-link. But for people who are still in the process to evaluate the shop and quite willing to pay for it, the level of information and feedback is quite low.
Honestly 200€ for a day support is much!
This is on a Joomla platform!
If I can spend so much money just to get a proper answer for a few questions everybody else is asking in the forum I would hire a company to create a shopping solution for me or buy one of the big e-commerce solutions.
Do people get a better support when buying the shop?
Maybe you can re-think your (potential) customer-relation ship. I'm sure if people have more an impression that they are welcomed as potential clients rather that people who want to leech things for free, they would be more willing to pay for the shop. Maybe a proper supported demo version without payment would be a better approach. If people really want to use it than they can pay 200 € for a commercial license to have the payment system in the shop enabled.
Please see this a constructive critic and not an attack on your abilities.
You write yourself we should give our vote and opinion here to support the ongoing development.
There is not a bug in joomshooping it is just the your mistakes in your Design during CSS.
We can not offer you free work on our own customizing of shop.
We work for 200 Euro plus tax a day with 8 hours and we do not understand what means that this is much. I think it is a really good and fair rate for a day work.
Might be that you work for free .. we created joomshopping as a opensource product which we spend regularly a lot of money from our site and therefore we can not agree with your opinion.
Think most users can understand this ..
We've been using this system for almost a year now for a small PayPal based shop and have taken hundreds of orders with no problems. Can't recommend it highly enough.
+ Easy to install, no problems
+ Easy to configure the admin, menus are really easy to understand
+ Many options available to configure the products, attributes, order status, shipping, payment modes...etc
+ Works flawlessly without any errors
Suggestions for improvement
- Admin panel should include an option to configure and send HTML invoices (Currently have to edit the orderemail.php)
- Coupons should allow an option for discounts for selected products only (Currently can only set by value or %, which applies to all products)
- Import XML feature for shipping rates/weights
- Member signup fields should be part of the checkout process so that the purchase flow would be more seamless
Overall a very good extension and many thanks for sharing it. Do let me know if you have a donations page as I would like to make a contribution.
Features such as orders not entering into the data base and PDF Files not being sent to the customer (a feature that I was really impressed with). When I went to their website for support, I found nothing. While the writers of this extension are obviously very good at what they do, they are that bad at resolving any problems, even in the forums I received no answers.
So, if you are a good programmer, you can probably spend some time to resolve any issues. If you are a web developer with limited knowledge of coding as most joomla users are, forget this extension as you will have no support if you run into trouble. Free version or not, there should be some support for extensions.
What a pitty that you not read before write!
We have support. On day costs 200.- € plus tax.
We do not give a free support! So you do not need to coment this. We can not create a professional free shop if we have to give a free support.
Second is that we can not offer support based on minutes or hours. We just hava a lot of work and if you not ready to pay one day then we can not suggest you to use our shop.
There are thousands of users which using the shop without any support and all works fine. For those who are not able or not have knowledge enough to install this shop, we offer support as a cost option.
So no support is just wrong. We have a support but it costs money
The template integration was also done quickly, we are very pleased with the way it looks on the front end.
The only problem I had was when I tried to set-up the menu items.
You can also check the forum with the answer to that, it needed some adjustments in a file. That is not very good as not everybody is able to make changes to php files. Might be a good idea to look into the code.
Some mention that there are no payment gateways other than paypal available. Yes that is true but Paypal is a good gateway, it is widely available and you can pay as guest or through your account.
Overall, well done, thank you!
We not understand what means there is no other gatway modul for other payment systems.
There are in JoomShopping Standart some and there are several which can be bought as addon option from our site with small amount.
Also we do customizing in case somebody want to get a integration on other payment system.
Please everybody need to understand .. we also not able to give everything for free. Therefore support costs money if you need also development or if you want to remove our link from joomshopping frontend.
It is sometimes frustrating to get positive feedback about all of joomshopping and only from those users who want to get free support, to get negative voting.
So again and hope for future .. JoomShopping can be used for free but NOT Support and NOT Customzing! We can not develop a good product in case we have to pay for other users to integrate them for free our software in their enviorment as they wish
I used their fixed price PayPal integration service for PayPal and was pleased. Fast and problem free.
Some complain that the price for the commercial/logo free version is excessive. Personally, I'm always glad to support developers in this way. It is a comprehensive product and well worth the price!
Thanks for your feedback and that you like our work!
Good luck in the future!
Thank you ... this was our main goal when we started this project.
We wanted to create a shop .. more simple to use as other shop systems from joomla on the market...
Thanks for reply
I am more than happy to pay for extensions to be developed, but I think the price quoted was way too high, especially seeing as Joomshopping should already have this option available to buy as an extension (in my opinion).
I also found the support to be very poor, not from the responses given, but from the response times. I sent emails, forum posts, skype messages, but it still took 2 weeks to get an answer on prices. Most of my messages were not answered at all. I understand that this is a free extension, but if I am offering to pay, the least someone can do is respond.
I'm sure the developer will respond now by saying my offer of EUR 200 to develop a sage pay extension is too small, but I don't think so seeing as a shopping cart should have this option already (in my opinion), and they will profit from developing it anyway (by selling the extension). I can see there is demand for it on their own forum, but no responses from Maxx-Marketing when it is asked.
With some more work / development I think this could be the best shopping cart available, but unfortunately at this time unless you are a coding expert, which I am not, this falls way short of whats required.
However, if you are just looking for a paypal cart, then I would recommend this extension.
I am going to try HikaShop instead, it appears to have lots of payment options (including sage pay), and is priced at EUR 99.
We not understand what was issue?
This is a good component. Easy to install, configure and use but need some improvements.
I was wondering to get quantity dropdown or textbox.
Really in need. Please help me somebody.
Thanks you.
I should have all product in by Monday, have my Contact screen, my links page and still be done in time for Monday Night Football.
What can I say bad? Yeah, the forum is in German. Darn! I had to use Google.
Thanks for fair voting .. even with our german forum ;)
This extension is easy to use and to install, but it is still missing onpage-help (some mouseover or expandable text would be great in Backend), and the default template is really trashy. 100% based on tables, out-dated HTML4-Transitional Standard-compliant, and still containing hundreds of slip-of-pen-type errors.
Regarding these facts, it's quite audacious to request 200.- € just for getting rid of the developers referrer link. I've never met any other developer in the Joomla world, demanding THIS much for this purpose.
It's based on Joomla! Open Source features, but it's built with Sales in mind: You even have to pay for a simple module in the current version. It seems that the developer is trying to get the most profit with low effort instead of trying to offer the best product in respect of Open Source and "Good coding".
Sorry to say that, I think the Scripting is done quite well, and Jshopping "could" be a good extension. Actually, there are not many alternatives out there, so users some might be happy with this state of art.
We not requested you to pay any money.
Only in case you want to hide the link to our site you have to pay this sum.
All functions are there and you can use it but stay the link to us which is, as we think fair for develop this product for the users ..
So in case you can not live with the link from the shop to our site .. we think we can request you to pay this 200 Euros ..
We prefer that you stay the link anywhere ..but in case you have a option.
Isn`t it fair ???
It can be customized, but the only thing that is missing are the payment options. I've used this extension for a year, and now my client asked me to add credit card payment support, and I didn't find anything helpfull. So I may be forced to change the e-shop extenstion, only for this fact.
I thing that the payment options are a very important when we are talking about a e-comerce platform.
First of all, the core (free) component is fairly well put-together. For the most part, it works. There are some things that will be awkward, especially for US residents, like the taxes. Here are a few:
1. There is no way to link directly from the menu to a specific category - it requires a workaround of "External URL."
2. Same with linking to a particular product.
THOSE are Biggies, if you want to link to more than "Shop" or "All Products."
3. The taxes are set up primarily for VAT, which is great for Europeans. Not so much for the US. As far as I can tell,t here is no way to create state-specific (or city-specific) tax rules. AND it can be a bit confusing to try to figure out how it calculates the taxes.
4. The templates are all done in tables. Not ideal, but it's a quibble, I admit.
Here's the biggie, though...
So far, after purchasing several of his paid options (zoom template + import options), not a single one works.
In addition, I've sent multiple emails through the site without a single response, and yet, when I disputed the purchase with PayPal, he responded to them within 2 hours.
PayPal ruled in his favor (they have a policy about downloaded goods), but was kind enough to give me my money back as well, because I am an excellent client, and they believed my claim.
This is NOT something most people can look forward to.
In conclusion:
- Feel safe using what is offered for JoomShopping for free.
- Beware ANY of the commercial options, unless you have money to throw away.
- Keep the notes about restrictions above in mind.
What you are writting is strange . .. we have thousands of clients which are using joomshopping and our components and moduls ..
and non of them had found a bug yet ...
Only a few without basic skills have problem but we can not teach people how Joomla is working .. why you just writting those text...
we offer installation service.. . you seams to be one guy which want all for free and free support .. after not got free support try to write those text ...
Sorry if you just not know basics .. then don`t use our shop. We are not able to give a free support for free ... we have thousands of users and we would not be able to create new features or improve the shop in case single users want free support.
For example we offer you to buy a day of installation service and if there is ANY Bug which was the reason for your problem we will refund this money for this day .. WE ARE SHURE ... the mistake is on our site .. We can garante that what you are writting about problems is only from not correct configuration of your webserver, or not correct installing because of less skills ...
Therefore we offer installing service with money back guarantee if there is a bug which caused your problems , because there is NO Bug.
