AddToAny - One Button Social Bookmarking Plugin

Updated - Version 1.2 - June 15, 2009

Bug Fix:

Found a bug that was preventing the embedded stylesheet from working properly. Specifically, in version 1.1, you would see this in the stylesheet:

* .a2a_dd img {border;0′ }

That single quote after the 0 meant in most browsers the following styles would be ignored. Thus, if you tried to apply your own styling to the addtoany button, chances are it would not work. So the only change to 1.2 is to remove that single quote. If you've made custom changes to 1.1 yourself, you can find fix it yourself on line 30 of AddToAny.php.

-----------

Updated - Version 1.1
New Features:

Bookmarking button opens in a new window
Added multi-language support framework for translation to other languages
All images are included with plugin for faster display
Configurable options for pop-up button colors
Optionally display or exclude button in category or section pages by id
Optionally exclude button from specific articles by id
Optionally display or exclude button on front page
Optionally display or exclude button in article intro sections
Fixed a problem where page title was not always being labeled correctly
Added optional custom css
Changes for XHTML compliance

---------------------

Plugin that adds a single image for all social networking sites (digg, reddit, facebook, deli.cio.us, stumbleupon, etc.). The button is automatically updated and maintained by addtoany.com, so you can use a single button instead of trying to update and maintain many buttons for the latest social bookmarking craze (see their site for a button demo). It looks cleaner on your site to have just one button and you can choose to have it displayed before or after page content. Plugin includes the option to use one of several pre-defined buttons, or you can use your own image or text for the link.

Very neat plugin, no frills or thrills just does what it promises to do, and does a good job of it...Hooray for this one

Works as advertised, it's cool looking and easy to customize.

Only problem I have: the custom CSS that you can select in the configuration backend seems to be ignored, as far as I can see, so I had to put custom html with a style attribute in the button text itself to place and color the button as I liked. This works well, but it's really not very elegant ;)

But aside from that, a really good plugin.

Sorry about that. I just found and fixed a bug in the stylesheet that addresses this problem. See my notes about version 1.2 for details.

that has a few oddities. The interface is very clever. What may be an issue though is that links get directed through add2toany.com first. Gmail isn't apply my template for half the screen. What exactly is happening in the call to addtoany.com?

Outstanding job, Bill! From the 'golly shucks' sort of description you give at tonys, one might think this plugin is a yawner - WRONG! I've used several, and this one is tops. Seems like you're already out with the next improvement before the next critic gets the words out, "Hey, I was thinking..." Fantastic Bill. Thank you so much for letting us experience the benefit of your hard work and talent!
For what it is, the tool is great. I too dislike the opening in same window though. Should open into new window. Never want to direct people completely away from your site.

Also, for this to be truly great, it needs to be able to put into every page, not just blog posts. I am developing a site that serves calendars, docs and info, and user communities. These also would be great to have the option for people to bookmark!!!

Make that happen, and you will be making a great tool!

Hi-

Thanks for the feedback. I just finished an update to the plugin version. I'll look into creating a module as well so you have the ability to show on non-article pages.

Bill

I like the style of hide many bookmark links behide the single button. But when clicked, it will open the link in current window. That is to say, this plugin will take visitors away from my website. This is very bad. why not open link in new window?

The second problem is, this plugin did not offer multi-language support. Though there is not too much language strings on the interface, it is better to make it multi-lingual.

Hi-
Thanks for the feedback. I am working on a new version now that will address both of your concerns, plus some other features. Please check back in a few days for an updated release.
