2008-09-16: Released Version 1.1
This version introduces a captcha functionality and solves the bug mentioned in one of the reviews below about problems with creating users in the backend.

This was an easiest of the Captcha extensions I tried to get up and running but it needed a few tweaks to make it perform more efficiently.
1) I had to modify the code in hpregistration.php to prevent registration when an invalid code had been entered. (Thanks to one of the previous reviewers).
2) I had to modify the default.php template override file to tidy up the form alignment. This was done by simply reversing the lines of code for each input box so the label comes after the box instead of before.
3) Like one of the previous reviewers, I had to turn off my WYSIWYG editor before creating the Terms of Use. Once this is saved, the WYSIWYG editor can be turned back on again. It would be good, however, if the plugin could render a module (such as mod_placehere) so that an already witten Terms of Use article could be included in the text area.
Apart from that - Good One Hannes. Thanks.

Plugin works great, bit it is not so easy to setup for a joomla beginner and lacks language support.
Still, great work and thanks!

I never could get the terms of use to work. Documentation is poor so I modified the default.php and got rid of the text box and changed the "I accept..." to "I am not a Spambot!" Which then led me to do the modification on the hpregistration.php as suggested in an earlier review. This really has a lot of promise, but needs a lot of polish to make it easy for new users to understand what they must do. I can only give it a 2 star as I spend 2 hours making it work for me.

It works. However, you need to do a little homework before it is production ready. I had the following issues when I installed it.
1. No support/forum links for this extension.
2. Documentation (readme.txt) lacks detail for a new Joomla user. For example I did not the "Custom HTML" is a pre-installed component in Joomla 1.5x.
3. I had to modify the plugin (hpregistration.php) to remain in the registration page when captcha (confirmation code) was incorrect. The existing code throws a warning and registration is not aborted. I simply duplicated the code that is executed when the terms of use check box is not selected.

I'm searching high and low for the captcha registration and this HP Registration gave me what I want without editing any core joomla codes...
wonderfull... works very well with virtuemart 1.1.3 + joomla 1.5.9 ......

Hannes this is fantastic,
I would love to see in future updates the ability to put a simple field which requires the user to enter a coupon or registration code, which has been predetermined and even hard coded into the php file rather than a full backend module.
Even something as simple as:
-User signs up with your autoresponder
-User is sent 1st email which has the registration code and link to the registration page
-User enters code (along with usual info)
-If correct user gets access (to registered member content)
-If incorrect user gets sent to a page stating 'incorrect code' with a link back to try again
This would be almost the same as your Terms of Use setup but with a text field instead of a radio button field.
I'm trying to do it myself but I'm a real php noob.
Great add-on so far, will definately be adding it to all my sites.
Cheers

Thanks to Hannes for sharing this useful extention.

This works great - easy to install as long as you read the "read me" text. Also one note - you may need to type in the module position rather than just selecting it when you go to place your custom html block in your template, as it is not there be default.

This almost works. Sadly you have to disable your wysiwyg editor before creating the terms module or the raw html will be output. And if you install this you will no longer be able to create users in the administrator of joomla as it fails because you have to accept the terms but you cant as there isnt a box to tick in the backend
Owner's reply
The bug with creating users in the backend has been fixed in version 1.1. Thanks for finding this. :-)

Good Add-On to the default!

You are so wealthy of ideas, Hannes. If just one click and we can use it, it would be better I think. Well done ;)

Great idea Hannes, I can really use this!

Ciao Hannes Papenberg, thanks for this plugin.
In the next release can you shows a terms of use that the user has to agree to in the joomla contact form too?
