A simple but powerful Access Control component that can be widely applied. Currently there are three types of users that need this component. Add more controls over the WEB 2.0 architect.

Application 1 - Subscribers / Certain Users only!
Websites that only want to restrict users' access to a specific article, or articles in specific categories and sections to subscribers only.
Application 2 - Customers Testimonials
Websites that wants to allow customers to add customer testimonials and show it on a certain section.
Application 3 - Web 2.0 Institution Websites
Websites of Universities, Colleges and Schools which wants to introduce the web2.0 concept, where staff from the organization provide information to the website.
Application 4 - Multi-users Blog
Websites that wants to allow more than one user to create their blogs.
- This extension requires registration to download.
I had a technical issue and Helix was able to solve it and show me how he fixed it within a day. A++ on quality and speed support.
This extension is well worth the money.
I hope they will improve the installation. Best wishes to Helix and his Team.
Peyrol.
I have a very complex site with 300+ users and various categories that certain users need to maintain. This component allows me to restrict publishing rights to the necessary categories by user and also make content available to selected users regardless of their Joomla usergroup.
Do yourself a favour - forget the others. This is the only ACL component you need.
All in all a great extension if you are looking for access control on your site.
I have Never run into a more helpful, pleasant !Joomla developer! My site is a little complex, and he was more than willing to go in there and find the solution to what I needed. His response is almost instant, his support is incredible. It took some work to figure out how exactly we should do it because of the blog program I am using, but now users can truly only edit designated Articles. Who wants a site where users can edit almost anything and everything?!
This is the second product I have bought from him, (Anti-hacker Firewall) and I must say, The Best money spent in building a more secure website.
Thank you so much for creating this essential tool. If only more developers were as helpful and efficient as you!
Last week the a new Beta version was released. With this Beta release the editor only sees the section and categories in which he/she can submit or edit articles. This is a major step forward.
Off course the Beta version had some (installation) bugs but as mentioned by others the support is quick and excellent!
The component works nicely and does what it should do.
My design incorporated Joomlaworks' Tabs and Sliders and upon the first install, JCAC did do want it was supposed to do. Jack from the Open Source Excellence, said I should remove it as that apparently was causing the problem, and if I wanted a refund he would gladly offer it up. I missed an email, but he had provided a solution. I was all set to ask for a refund because removing the JW Tabs & Sliders was not an option. Being a relative Joomla NOOB, Jack asked for FTP access, I granted him that, and with a couple of hours, everything was working as planned and I didn't have to uninstall anything!
Now I know why they have "Excellence" in their name.
THANK YOU!
I originally didn't want to pay for this component, but after testing all the free ones out there, decided to give it a shot.
When I contacted the developer, Helix sent me an email within a couple hours explaining that my concerns would be fixed in the upcoming release in less than 2 weeks. Then I got an email from him (in less than 2 weeks) with the updated version. This truly is the answer to front end access control! If you want to control which sections, categories, or articles your users can post, edit, or publish, this is for you!
as mantissa put it... you've tried the rest, now try the best!
Sincerely thanks for choosing us, and thanks you all for your financial support, so that we can employ more developers to sit in front of the computer, and improve the software. Many many thanks again!
This is a must have feature that i strongly recommend to everybody who needs such an extention!!
Awesome work Helix and development team!!!Keep up the good work!!!
Once installed on my test site, I found that the component didn't behave as I expected, so I emailed the author. That I received a reply in just over an hour was amazing enough, but when he went on to clarify what it was I wanted it to do and then sent me an updated version an hour or two later, I was dumbfounded!
What followed was a couple of days of me testing, feeding back results and then getting another version to test. I felt like part of the development team. At no time was I met with the 'that's what it does, you're stuck with it' brick wall response, it was always a case of 'OK, what would you like it to do?'. In the end I feel as if I helped to create a very useful component by one of the friendliest, hard working and competent developers I have come across.
OK, so what do you have? An easy to use component accessed from the back end where it is possible to restrict Authors, Editors and Publishers to performing their tasks in specific areas of the websites; not just sections or categories, but right down to specific articles.
The beauty of this component is that it is 'just' a plugin, there's no nasty php hacking or mangling of your installation.
You've seen the rest, now try the best!
Thank you so much for your detailed review, and we need to thank you for helping us to improve the component and benefit all users! :D
I had a some problem with plugin so I have used forum to find support. Helix (admin) is great... he have solved my problem in few time. Extension for me works very good and does exactly what it says. Great extensions and great support. Thanks a lot for your works.....
(Sorry for my bad english! :-)
Helping you to sort out your problem is one of our jobs, we are very happy to help, :D
In today's economy, I couldn't imagine paying that kind of money for a product that is no more necessary than this one is.
It is their creation, and they can charge what they think is fair, but a lower price would probably sell 100 times more.
Hi, first of all, we are not selling at more than $100USD. It is now GBP24.00 for one year membership. Even the normal price is only GBP 48.00 for one year membership. In the current economy, this is about $75USD, right (where is the more than 100USD from)?
Second, this is released under GPL license, which means that you pay one price and get UNLIMITED COPIES and INSTALL IT ON UNLIMITED WEBSITES, RIGHT?
Third, we provide a free version to the public for those small websites as a contribution to the opensource community. We charge a price for those users that needs services and supports.
Finally, as we state, we charge this fee for services and supports. All our customers are satisfied with our services, rapid responses and supports. In this economy, paying only GBP 24.00 for the whole year's service and support, is it still expensive?
We leave all these questions to all other web developers.
It is quite easy to install and use, giving a so needed functionality to joomla.
The only problem I have found is that Creation restriction does note work correctly. No matter in wich section I am, creat button on the front end will always show "Acces denied". Not sure if it is a bug or I am confused about the function.
Thanks!
It will be in the top 10 once the user group control function has been added.
Pros: Lets you control who can add or edit articles a certain section. Much like other commercial extensions but published under GPL.
Cons: The only one I see is having to set permissions individually to users but that looks like its going to be fixed in the final release.
Awesome work guys!
Read the description carefully, it does not yet (v1.00 beta 1) restrict from seeing the content, just editing and creating. But that is done very well.
The E-Mail support was very fast!
Thank you very much and please continue the good work!
It would be great if we could choose multiple sections.
Right now I have to add same user several times to restrict within several sections.
Also, having categories selection would be nice!
And when the user tries to post in the section he/she is not allowed to post in, there should be better 403 page, instead of current displaying the names of files...
or, do not display the "not allowed to post in" sections and categories at all.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your comments first.
Yeah, you are complete right! Those are what we want to improve in the final version. We will make it and inform you then. :D
