Flickr Album

This plugin uses 3 javascript libraries to create Flickr Albums. These libraries are jQuery (http://jquery.com), jQuery Flickr (http://www.projectatomic.com/2008/04/jquery-flickr) and jQuery Lightbox (http://leandrovieira.com/projects/jquery/lightbox).
Before using this plugin you must apply for your own Flickr API Key (http://www.flickr.com/services/api/keys).
If you are looking for an easy way to publish your flickr pics into your articles, this is the right choice. But seems it is no longer supported.
Looking at its Google Discussion Group, there are a lot of questions without answer... :( too bad
Couple of them would help me...
If you would be happy to share the code for the gallery enhancement you made to this then I'll try to add that to the plugin. Thanks for the review! :)
Also it would be nice to add an option to add photos of someone, since Flickr introduced "Add a Person" option.
Very helpful plugin!
Thanks!
It's a wonderfull module but I miss the possibility of paginate each 30 fotos for example.
I can't see why that wouldn't work. The plugin is coded so that you can specify the number of rows and columns you'd like to display. Either a 6x5 or 5x6 grid would do 30. :)
- There is some problems with the lineup of the thumbnails. They do not match on the top, but are placed in a 'terraced' manner.
- The enlarged photos can only display small, medium or large size, in-between sizes (if I wanted to display something between 'medium' and 'large') are not possible
@Paul: Keep up the great work! Are you expecting any update or is there any workaround in the meantime?
Hi there - thanks for the feedback.
There are a number of features that have been requested over the last year which I would eventually like to incorporate, but I am not sure when I will have the time.
Regarding the notes above about the plugin, I can offer the following considerations:
> There is some problems with the lineup of the

I believe that this is not an issue that all users of my plugin encounter. Rather, it occurs due to some sort of clash between the plugin and css/html from the site or other plugins. I might try iteratively disabling/reenabling other plugins and see if you can track things down. Otherwise, firebug is great for debugging css/html issues (and you can now get it for Chrome as well).

Unfortunately, a very hard limitation is in displaying only the sizes that Flickr provides on the server. It would be possible, I suppose, to hack something in that allowed you to add height and width attributes to the image popup. However, the actual larger sized image would still be downloaded.
Thanks for your feedback. I hope you can get the css problem sorted out!
The one confusing thing I found was that the number of thumbnail rows and columns (set in the plugin tag) didn't behave intuitively. However, it wasn't much of a problem; I just had to adjust the numbers until they fit the space I am working in.

I have only one small problem which i can't figure out.
When you look at the Url , you'll see a line at the right of all small red dots. I,m also thinking that the red dots are messing up the line up of the thumbnails.

I tried al photo set codes from your website and tried all different settings in the joomla admin panel.
I hope you can help?
With kind regards,

Two things I'd like to see added.
1. The ability to publish in a module position.
2. Ability to remove title (richjones, you've already done this... would love the code).
It's so easy to use and is resonably flexible. I've been modifying bits to suit me and finding it easy to follow (never really done php or used a cms before but I am a developer)
I've added a parameter to select if I want the Flickr link to show and I've allowed a blank title.
I'd like pagination if anyone's done it, or I'll have a go, as it only displays a fixed amount of thumbnails.
I am happy to share what I've changed if anyone wants it.
Keep up the good work, it's very useful and appreciated :)
Just a couple of questions (these do not detract from the great plugin). I cannot get the lightbox effect to operate, and would like to be able to turn off the Photoalbum text that appears...
Also might be nice to include the instructions as part of the xml file so they can be visible when the plugin is installed...
Great work...
:-)
Hi there - thanks for the review! Please email me about the problems that you are experiencing and hopefully we can sort things out. :)
Now if only Flickr would let us view private photo's just as easily
The downside is that it doesn't provide access to private photos. IMO this rules it out for many serious applications, including my own which is a club website where members don't want their photos publicly available on Flickr.
The author, while very responsive on email, has indicated that he has no plans to include the necessary authentication to access private photos. This is a great pity. If he would relent and make this enhancement, I for one would pay $$$ for a pro version which included it.
Anyone out there who does this will have a killer plugin!
I did find a peculiar problem, and it is not with the plug-in but rather the editor I am using. FCKJoomla seems to insert tags in between the arguments in the command string. I had to manually go in and clean up the code. Not putting any spaces seems to take care of the problem.
Overall, I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple means of displaying Flickr images within your content.
There are a few additional things that would be good like options to disable the comments etc on Flickr.
Perfect mate.
Thanks for your feedback. I am happy to add additional options, etc. I'll email you to see what sort of things you have in mind more specifically...
