Whilst I suppose this only really deserves 4.5 because it needs user modification to make it perfect, I wouldn't dare give it a 4....
Yes this needs a little modification if you want it to do more than it set out to do, but heaven's it's only got a .cfg and and .xml file. It took me about 30 seconds to modify the .cfg file slightly so as to include Copyright in front of the copyright symbol etc.

While I see a definite value to the aims of this extension, unfortunately it fails to resolve the problem for my sites.
Below is how I like my copyright notice to display at the bottom of the sites that I produce:
Copyright © 2008-2010 | MyCompanyName
However, this extension forces the copyright symbol at the front the string. I am not even sure why this extension includes the copyright symbol, bearing in mind that there is a perfectly good code to fulfil this requirement ( & c o p y ; - remove spaces ).
The limitations of this extension are easy to resolve, if the developer wishes. The key is to simplify the user-interface and the functionality slightly by implementing it this way:
Just two fields are required:
Text before date:
Text after date:
Also, a note about the HTML copyright symbol would allow the user to include it anywhere they wish in one of these fields.
All that said, the developer should be commended for spotting the problem in the community, and endeavouring to solve it. I hope that he/she is able to perfect it, as I imagine it will be a very popular extension once these small changes are actioned.

Nothing is as bad as seeing professional sites with outdated copyright info, e.g. "Copyright 2005-2008".
With this module you save yourself for the embarrasment and let the system take care of the updating as you enter the new year.
In this module you also have the possibility to add text before and after the "year". Hereunder including html links etc.

In absolute the best footer module. Simply to use, possibility of past HTMl code, light and functional.
