It fits our clubs needs for listing past and upcoming events. Frontend catagory selection need a bit more work. This is an excellent product with nice flow. I am new to joomla and development.
Great Job!

I found this component to be excellent with regard to a community portal. It was easy to set up and works exceptionally well.

The only problem I found was that it really needs a Save/Cancel button at the bottom of the Add/Edit Event form. There is one at the top, but a user failed to find it after adding details. I went to the code to duplicate the buttons, but they had been commented out because of some issue with IE7. Hopefully this can be resolved.

For the commenter below mine insofar as adding events, I would say you have not set up your permissions in the back end.
Hi there,
I just wanted to appreciate schlu.net for their work on this free component. The installation was easy and the backend was a breeze to configure. Had the same "problem" as some other user regarding the user frontend upload. Please refer to :
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=1961273

Just get rid of the " // " in // 18, //registered // 19, //author
in the user.class.php!!

I don't know why Julien didn't seem to implement this right away but i guess it's a security measure. Thanks so much for this great extension..

First of some very good positives -
1. Nice easy install
2. Good outlook
3. Flexible features

But for God's sake would some one please tell me how to get the front end users to be able to add events in that. I have a site where I want users to be able to list their events and get people show interest in booking for those events. I have tried to look for support, but the forum is down and the creator's website doesn't provide any information about configuration or anything else. I am not a programmer, so am looking for something very simple and I liked all the features in this component, but simply not good enough if only the back end users are able to add events.

If only the front end submissions worked, I would have given it 5 stars definitely.
It works good for a single event for the day. However, if we have multiple (more than one)events within multiple categories for the specified day, it lists all of them (besides the fact that the menu item was created for a specific category only).

In summary: I am using two Calenders of Events for two categories (two languages), where practically each event is described in two languages. They are all displayed, although calenders filter category IDs properly (it works for a single event).

Thanks for a very good program, which makes site updating much easier and ensures easy navigating through the various events.

I have one issue, however, and that is that the dates have to be specific and final. You cannot say, let's say, August 2011. That would be fine, but then at least it would be good to have a field in the Date section where one could enter if a date is confirmed, unconfirmed or merely approximate.

Thanks for your trouble and effort.

This is a very well coded and easily customizable extension.
Thank you for your great work. Keep up providing such amazing extensions.

It is a nice component, even some function missing.
But support is not really efficient; Forum is close from a month to clean, it's quite long time to remove spam and install a captcha system. During this time we have not access to existant support and tips!
I really like this component, don't stop to update it !!

It is very good component.
I am missing: 2-Level categories, "free places left" and "places avaliable" depending on config.

Eventlist gives you a pretty simple events diary component.
Combined with the Quivva eventlist calendar module it does just about what I need for most sites.

A few drawbacks: Fix these and it gets 5 stars.
1. I cant get front end editing to work, possibly due to my fix for 2 below.

2. Venues. Like other reviewers I think it would be so much better if you could just turn off venues in the parameters (It's not too hard to get around this with a template override of the editevent view)

3. It insists on using the standard editor even though I have JCE set as the default.

4. The support forum has been down for maintenance for quite a while.

Two days ago I fell asleep thinking how to resolve event management on my new website. At first I wanted to program it myself... Then I found this extension. In two words: well done!
Installed well, easy to configure.

This is a really good extension for adding events and allowing users to add their own events too. The only complaint is the venue addition which makes things a little more difficult that they need to be for events that don't really require a venue.

5 stars!
It is the only component that does exactly what we need. The provided options are wonderful and it is so highly customizable!
Thnks a lot

I've just created a new account (forgot the details of former one) to vote for this component. One word "PERFECT"
Can someone tell me how can I create a link from a regular Joomla article to a specific event within the EventList module? I can link to the calendar itself (showing ALL events) but I need to link article to specific events or to event categories (showing all events within ONLY that category). I would greatly appreciate any help with this matter!

I loved it! Eventlist was perfect and there wasn't anything that needed to change. Easy to use and I would recommend.

Had to add an event manager to one of our customers website - and sadly this was not my first choice. after trying out some other extensions, i came across EList and stick to it.
Setup worked ok (no problems encountered) and configuration was pretty intuitive.
The extension worked well for my customer and that makes me happy :D

I was so impressed at how easy to use this extension is! I like how the events are listed in table format--very easy to read on the screen. Even as a Joomla novice, I was able to configure all the settings to customize the software to my needs.

Thank you for this extension.

This component has a lot of potential but it is sabotaged by it's "Venue" requirement for every entry.

While the venue functionality makes sense for club promoters etc, it does not make sense for trade shows and smaller events which are either hosted in a different venue every year or are too small to have a "venue". Also for events like fairs a venue doesn't make sense as sometimes these fairs or gatherings are in parks or other public places with no normal address.

The separate venue option really only makes sense if you have recurring events happening at that venue.

While the "add event" functionality has a "no venu" option there is no way to enter an address, website or even a city or state.

My recommendation to the programmers is to make the Venue functionality optional and have the default functionality show an expanded "event details" entry form which includes the location information such as address, Contact info, website and map link.

Another thing I think could be improved is the list view. For the homepage, they only give you the option to list events with very basic information (title, date, time,VENU, etc.) or to go straight to a details view of a single event.

It would be nice to see something between the "simple list" and "details" view where you can show a list of events with say the event title, Location, image thumbnail and short 1-4 line summary.

And of course it would also be great to have calendar functionality built or at least a mini-calendar module that could be placed on the right or left side.

If they implemented all of that I'd be willing to pay $30 for this component. As it stands now I'm looking for a different solution instead.

I totally agree with Reyji, it is a great component, but just the fact that you have to go through all those steps to add a venue is very confusing. Why not just be able to enter a text of the city and country or address. It is very confusing for the average user.
Otherwise, it is a great component...
