ADJR - Disable Joomla Registration Plugin

As of version 1.5.3, supports search engine friendly urls (SEF)! Thanks goes to "Schandiwe".

FROM NOW ON, this plugin is not only for Community Builder; but also supports other user management components. Read on...

Although you unpublish Joomla's login module and use CB's (Community Builder's), when someone hits to ...option= com_registration&task= register he/she enters to Joomla's core registration page and may skip required fields in CB registration form . This utility (mambot) fixes the issue. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A CB PLUGIN, IT'S A MAMBOT/PLUGIN.

NOTE FOR CB 1.0.2 USERS
- From on this CB Release the security risk has been fixed by CB Developers. Users may not be able to see Joomla's core login and registration system; in stead system gives an "You are not authorized.." message. However, in terms of ergonomy I recommend to use this mambot; because it's a very tiny mambot that redirects corresponding requests to the supposed pages.

Latest News ...........................
1. Joomla 1.5 compatible version is released!
2. Joomla 1.5 compatible version has further improved capabilities such as:
2.1. Plugin has now built-in support for Community Builder, JoomSuite User and AUser Manager!
2.2 The new version also enables administrators to use custom URL's for redirection.

The new feature mentioned in news 2.2 is designed for the following scenario:
You disabled Joomla registration from global configuration, however you have many links embedded in articles or some of the components redirects guest users to joomla registration page. The message guests users will see is, registration is disabled bla bla bla. However, you can create an article which in detail has information about why registration is disabled etc and configure the plugin to redirect to this content page. That's all!

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
The above described features are available for Joomla 1.5.X version only.

------------
Now supports login redirections only for Joomla! 1.5, enjoy! See Changes tab in the release page for complete list of changes.

When using Jomsocials registration system, the Joomla core registration page is still available by using the direct url index.php?option=com_user&task=register. This plugin takes care of it. Simple. Easy. Thanks for the great plugin.

This worked like a blessing for me. Some times simple things work more better.
Thanks so much for this great extension!

Does just what it says it will with minimal configuration.

I installed the plugin, enabled it, checked the configuration and everything worked!

Thanks!

With the 'AUser Manager' User Management System (SecureForms) and redirection enabled, seems to work well. Does what it says it does. Small and easy to setup. Just what I was looking for!

Thanks to schandiwe for the notice of how to ensure SEF URLS, and to the coders of this marvelous little plugin. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. Regardless of whether you try to force the core registration page to load using index.php?option=com_registration or index.php?option=com_registration&task=register, the CB registration page comes up instead. Nice touch to have the ability to add a "blurb" at the top of the page, as well. Thanks so much!

Thank you, it's very useful and acheives exactly what I wanted.

To get it working with SEF Urls: edit the plugin file and on line 37 replace the word onAfterInitialise with onAfterRoute.
This may be just the only case.. but worth mentioning since it costs me a lot of time. I installed the latest version dated Nov. 8, 2008 on Joomla 1.5.9 and CB 1.2. Everything seems fine until members started complaining about the retrieved lost password sent don't give them site access as expected. I thought it was CB at first. But after disable this plug in, CB lost password is sending out the correct password for our members again.

Must test on your site first.

Dear tiraporn, plugin has nothing with the lost passwords, if you explicitly didn't configure it.

Sometime the simplest things are the best!

Nice work, DM.
I had a problem with Fireboard's registration using Joomla's core registration page. With this simply install I was able to have Fireboard registration use the same page as the registration used for Community Builder in the front page.

Does what it says it is going to do, no fuss, no muss. This should pretty much be a standard download for anyone using CB and J! 1.5.

Well this one doesnt work either.
On joomla 1.5.7 ,latest CB
Core registration is disabled in config.

But when i go to :index.php?option=com_registration&task=register i get 403 forbidden which isnt dont by this plugin..and when i go to index.php?option=com_registration , i can still use the registration.
Owner's reply

First of all, what interests me in your review is "when i go to index.php?option=com_registration , i can still use the registration." this means plugin is either disabled (aka not enabled) or misconfigured. Both issues are easy to resolve, you can ask your questions in the project forum.

It redirects the core joomla registration page to the community builder registration page, it does the same for the login page also. It fixes the problem where session timeouts cause both the joomla login and CB login to appear.

The new version of the plugin works great on Joomla 1.57 (legacy mode) with CB1.2RC3 . I'd recommend this plugin to anybody who is using Community Builder & Joomla 1.5x .

I have spent tonnes of time and in the end a fair amount of money, so that my registration system works through a SMS Payment system, that verifies age etc.
This for me was necessary as I run an adult site.
I had forced the CB registration etc, as I was pointed out, ages ago, so this pasting of the link never occured to me!
But then I read this, just by chance, and BANG, it bypassed my registration system totally!
This simple bot fixed the trick in a second.
THANKS!

Thank you for this and also for making it available on your site even though you are running into issues with your download section.

you still need this bot to disable joomla registration page.
if you set your titles as link and if the content is oly for registered users joomla direct you to core login page. but if you insatalled this bot everything is OK :))

thanks for alaattin

WOW. Had a lot of manual links on my site, and these link do not need to be changed, the mambot do it.

What a baby - Thankz
This one mambot solved a HUGE problem for my many sites with restricted content! Simple and now I can really use the intro text as a "teaser" to join... Perfect! My website is now complete!
I never felt the need of this until I installed Acajoom for Newsletter as the register link of Acajoom directs to the Joomla Registration. Now I can easily redirect to CB registration using this simple mambot - Thanks to the developer.
This is in response to the previous review. Using the method mentioned in the review, the user will see the "You are not authorized to view this resource" message. However, with this mambot, it actually redirects you to the CB registration, which is less confusing to users who followed a link accidentally.

I give it a 5-star rating because i found this feature very important to any CB-enabled site, and this mambot does what it's supposed to do perfectly.

No longer needed as of CB 1.0.2

This version of CB allows you to disable Joomla user registration via Global Config, and then only allow CB registration.
Owner's reply

Please see http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1236/Itemid,35/#rev-6307 There are a number reasons you may need to use this mambot;
- You may be using some components which requires registered user actions and redirects user to the Joomla registration page when the user is a guest. Via using this mambot a seamless redirect will occur in the background to the CB reg. page, however disabling joomla reg. via CB config will result in an error message which will perhaps confuse user.

- You may have a number of hard coded links embedded into content which points to the Joomla registration page.
