Joomla Content Security Module
As a result, this module will be enhanced and hence renamed to the Content Security Module.
It will prevent copying and pasting through highlights and keyboard shortcuts very soon.
For the moment, it uses a script from Dynamic Drive that prevents right clicking on the pages that this module is activated upon.
Installing it is super easy: -
Just hide the title using the Module Manager and position it in the topmost module position (usually "top" or "banner").
Oh yeah, and it is cross browser too, as noted by even more reviewers.
Do note that this only stops very novice Web surfers. There are other ways to right click as remarked by the reviewers.
Paypal donations accepted. Paypal address salocin.ten{at}gmail.com
I'm using it for our corporate intranet and blocked the right click only on Phoca Gallery and a custom component.
Thank you!
thank you for your great work, i don't know if it may cause problem with search engine (sef/seo) google, ect.. but it is very good i'm going to to a donation
thank you a lot
Thanks for your donation.
Greatly appreciated.
:)
No worries, Richard.
It definitely is coming up soon. Progress is slow and I apologize because right now I am a little tied up in my corporate work.
You should see an update in a few weeks.
Thank You
Thanks for your wonderful review and I am glad it works for you and your clients.
A new updated version based on previous feedbacks will feature many more options that can be turned on and off.
Thanks for your comment.
Your suggestion of a customizable right click message will be considered into the next version.
Thanks for your feedback, and I am glad your client wanted this.
In fact, this was the inspiration behind this, when certain people wanted to prevent non Web savvy persons from right clicking.
A new version is in the works that will contain extra features.
I am desperately looking forward for the new features that you are going to add, it will really be very helpful. When do you think it will be done? :P
Thanks for the hard work!
Hi laine,
This new module should be done in a few months as I am practically up to my neck in my day job.
Unless you wish to chip in and help though.
I have tried the module and in my opinion a lot of peole use just the keybord shortcuts, not the mouse clicks, so it won't block them from copying my content.
I'm tired of such content thiefs and would realy welcome a tool, that would block all the methods of plagiarism.
Please, think about it, if you are willing to make an upgrade of this module. It would be very useful. Thanks.
Thanks for the motivation.
I shall get started on the next version really very soon. However, keyboard shortcut blocking might need a little bit more research.
My current day job has piled up on me. But I should have some time. :)
Cheers.
function disableselect(e){
return false
}
function reEnable(){
return true
}
//if IE4+
document.onselectstart=new Function ("return false")
//if NS6
if (window.sidebar){
document.onmousedown=disableselect
document.onclick=reEnable
}
Thanks for the help.
As this module is targeted to business users, not technical users, this code will be implemented into the next version.
So what is the purpose of this module ?
There is no prevention for Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V yet. Just a right click prevention.
But thanks for your suggestion. It could be implemented in the next version of this module.
Thanks for your wonderful comment.
Yeah. I really do hope to work on further features of this module, probably even turning it into a plugin.
However, my current job is taking some time out of working this module and hence work on the next versions are suspended temporarily. If someone could take over the project, that would be cool too.
It looks like it is a very promising module though and I'm glad it works for at least the most popular browsers out there.
Thanks for pointing out.
Perhaps you might have Javascript turned off in your browser for that to happen.
This is because I had terrible time modifying my Mynxx template to work the right way on as much browsers as possible.
Well, can't say anything more than PERFECT job. One thing one of my members noted me about; search engines cached pages! NoRightClick has no effect on SE cached pages. I tried it every possible way but could do nothing about it. Turning off SEF can do it but surely it is a bad idea.
At least my content isn't copied everywhere on the web as much as before, thanks to you. Thanks a million.
Great review there. You are most welcome.
Thanks!
I shall take those suggestions and see if I can come up with the modifications.
Well, I am having some trouble making it into a plugin as they seem to depend on "events" like if the user is authenticated, etc.
If someone can help, that will be nice. :)
Thanks so much for your awesome feedback!
Thanks
Thanks for the comment.
Yes. I am still finding out a way to make it work for Opera browsers.
It might not fool the hardcore hacker, but it surely stops most people from copying content from our pages.
