Maybe am wrong but I don't see for what this plugin are useful...In fact with Joomla we can already create an user account and login using our email address instead a username... So users can choose what is the best for they and use username or email address...For what I know majority of any website ask a username instead a email...but the great thing with default login module is users are free to choose...You can also warn your users by adding a pre-text about this freedom...

this is an excellent and simple plugin. I am using it with virtuemart so my customers can use their email address to login and works a treat

Seems to work well enough but it's packed so it wouldn't unpack and install for me in Joomla. I had to unpack it myself and zip the contents. Then it installed fine.
