jConnector Module

WebScribble jConnector allows your members to sign in using Facebook Connect. Instead of using a cumbersome registration form, users can register within seconds.

After registering through Facebook, members can simply click on the "Facebook Connect" icon the next time they come back to your site, and they'll be automatically logged back in. The integration actually adds these members to your Joomla database, so you can administer your users just like before.

NEW in 1.1: Support for CommunityBuilder.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS!!! It looks like it was well designed, but it uses the old Facebook API and WILL CRASH YOUR SITE. There is no support and the link to their forums is broken.

Ok, installed, did part of the job. it doesnt store facebook user´s email. instead is blank. I surfed your website for two days and no succes in adressing this issue PLUS you are using a deprecated languaje. I seriously and honestly believe that you will need to update this module. I understand its free but there is a tons of app outthere that are free and working at a 100 percent with full support. even in this site you have several complaint on the email matter but there is no answer from your team.

Having followed the instructions to connect with Facebook, and having obtained the requisite APIs, I found that this extension does not work in Firefox 3.6.

When one clicks the button, a separate browser window opens with Facebook in, asking to allow access to my Facebook data. So far so good. But when I click "Allow", my website opens in the same separate browser window - i.e. I now have my website open in two windows - and absolutely nothing else happens.

Reading the jConnector forums, it seems other users have had the same problem, yet there is still no solution. Although I like what this product promises to do, it seems it has some problems and I cannot therefore give it a rating above one star. If anybody thinks I am wrong, of course, then do feel free to say so, because I would love to give this product a good review. But as it stands, it just doesn't seem to work.

This is a great way to allow fb users to login to your website.

only problem is that once logged in, there is an empty box left in the side bar after logging in, is there anyway to hide the module once the user has logged in

I tried using the facebook connect plugin, but everytime it throws an error because it tries to write to a table named jos_comprofiler. That table I know for a fact is the user database for Community Builder, but according to what i've seen this plugin should connect with the regular joomla user database, and doesnt need CB. Whats going on here ?

It is great! the problem that can not be contacted by email with the username and this may be an impediment to use this connector.

There is this possibility in the future?

In setting up several websites with formidable Facebook fan followers, I tried several other methods to authenticate users, this one worked without fail. THANKS!!!

I'd love to keep using this but I need to be able to grab the user's email. This puts unuseable info under e-mail in my backend. If this was fixed it would be better.

Very happy with it.... question to the dev though - is there a way of controlling the size of the button graphic or specify an alternate one to use as the current one is hanging over the side of my page lol. Thanks

Thank you very much for this great module! Worked like a charm.

I just noticed, that there's a wrong Email-Adress within the "default" Joomla user component. Something like "1247013962@1908324545.rnd".

First of all, this is a great module. It integrates Facebook Connect with the Joomla! core pefectly. It's flaw is that it creates a field in the user database which Community Builder does not recognize and prevents the user from editing their CB profile. The developer has stated however that this is a priority on his to do list, so we should see a fix coming soon.

Beat over at joomlapolis.com has stated that an official CB Facebook connect option will be available soon, however this is perfect for sites that don't have a use for Community Builder.

I installed this without going through his forums. It was easy and I liked the way the module appeared unobstrusively above my CB login module. But, therein, was the problem. It has some problems with CB which I'm hoping the developer will address. After uninstalling I had some problems with CB and an unknown column in the database. Searched his support forums and found it necessary to delete a field in a certain table. That was simple enough too.

Hope he gets it sorted out so us CB users can use it.

Thanks for your feedback. We've included support for CB in version 1.1. You can download it from our site.
