The Problem :
The standard Joomla 1.5 stable has no means to allow or require admin (or other) approval / verification before a user is allowed to login to a site - that is - after they get their verification email, all one has to do is click and then login to the site. It would be just absolutely fantastic if the admin - besides being notified of a new user - could actually approve or deny an application for registration. See at Joomla Forum
The JoomlaXi Solution :
We have developed a plugin, called Admin Approval Plugin. Once it is installed on your site, the administrator of website can selectively approve the joining request.

When my customer asked if they could approve user accounts after registration, I was worried because I did not think it could be done.
Did a quick search and found this awesome plugin. Just install it, enable it and there you go. It allows the user to register as normal. Once they click on the activation link in their email it redirects them to the site with a message telling them that their account will be active once it is approved. Admin will receive an email with the new user details and if you want to approve their account just click on the link. Could not be easier.

The plugin is very useful and support is efficient: the staff is very helpful!
A little suggestion for the .ini language file:
it's important to (re)save it as UTF-8, as specified in language/en-GB/en-GB.com_user.ini ("# Note : All ini files need to be saved as UTF-8 - No BOM").
So, if you use special characters in your language file, they will be displayed correctly, and not replaced by �.

Easy to install and active and bug free right from the start. Spam Bots are shut out! This is a lifesaver, wish I had heard about this earlier.
If I could change just one thing I would make it so that users (who are awaiting Admin Approval) would NOT be automatically entered into the list of members in the "User Manager" area of the Admin backend.
The way it is setup now we have to go in and delete each membership that we do not approve. I'd rather they not even show up on the list until after Admin has approved their application for membership. It's more of an inconvenience issue I guess.
However, I will indeed be keeping this handy little feature intact as it locks out spam bots PRONTO!

I just went through and deleted over half of my users because they were 'junk' accounts. They would log in and post garbage to my forum. NOW with this I can stop them from getting in... MANY HUGE Thanks for something is very much needed and missing from Joomla!!

This extension does exactly what it says. A very necessary one.
I read over all the reviews, negatives and positives and then carefully changed my emails. My site had previously been created with a gmail account. So I first, changed all of my emails in my user account and in my Global configurations to my ISP strong account. Plus I checked to receive site emails. I then installed the plugin, and it worked, CORRECTLY right off the bat! What a relief, and thank you so much for a brilliant and much needed plugin! It pays to read everything first to save yourself frustration and the embarrassment of blaming the maker of the extension when in truth, it's something on your end. By following all direction given, NO PROBLEMS so far. I tested it. A friend and hubby from his own computer, everything took place as it should! THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY!!!

Already at first use it gave trouble.
Screwed up links on the site, the links emailed out were relative. The approval email with link to administrator - well the link did not work properly.
Had to uninstall again and hope I will not need to use my old backup of the site.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
If you have looked into forum you might have come to know that this issue is not related to our plugin. The activation link generated by some registration component have flaws. Which we reported to component developer.

- Solution...simple...make sure your admin account in the user manager has the checkbox 'receive system emails' ticked.

It just works!!! Download it, install it and activate it. You will get the approval email when the user clicks their activation link :-)
I always go through the reviews of extensions before trying them out, so you can imagine my hesitation when I saw Wolfgang's review, but I wasted time because it turns out it works FINE! It works very very well, and the forum members he was referring to sorted themselves out: it turns out that their messages was going into SPAM folders, so Wolfgang, I think you should check yours for the messages.

I love this extension. Includes functionality that should already be included in Joomla.
One question, does this also include a feature to send an email to the user once the admin has approved their account? If so, how do you enable it?
