- This extension requires registration to download.
This is version 2 of the popular Registration Validator plugin for Joomla 1.5 (and above). Version 2 requires PHP 5 or later.
Please note that it is not compatible with version 1. It is a complete rewrite - while many of the parameters are the same, the implementation is completely different. If you have customised your version 1 installation, you will need to extract the changes you made to v1 and reapply them to v2. Once v2 is enabled, you will need to disable version 1 (or uninstall).
Translations: English, Dutch, German, Russian, Czech, Italian, French, Finnish, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish.
Version 2 includes these enhancements:
- Whitelist. You can limit registrations to specific domains - any attempts from domains not on the whitelist will be rejected.
- Multilingual. Registration Validator now fully supports language files (for both user interface and log files).
- Full logging. The log file is fully configurable, and includes settings to rotate either daily, weekly, or monthly. Also the level of logging is configurable, from just rejections to full (debug) logging showing exactly what is happening.
- Email reports. The log file can optionally be emailed at the time it is archived (e.g. midnight daily or weekly).
- Kunena antispam. Kunena posting are now validated using Linksleeve and/or Akismet, and spam postings rejected. Optionally, users posting spam can be automatically blocked (and email sent to inform administrator).
- IP CIDR support (you can enter IP ranges using CIDR notation).

After converting one of our sites from Wordpress to Joomla + JomSocial + Kunena, within a few weeks, we we're heavily targeted by spammers.
Every morning I would wake up to ridiculous amounts of russion spam in forum and sometimes more than 100 new spam-users in JomSocial.
I found this, bought it, installed it and haven't had a single spampost, nor spam-user registration, since.
Even though it's a paid/commercial plugin, this is a must-have for us and I will deploy it on all our sites from now on!

Have to say that this is an absolutely brilliant extension. One of my client sites was being inundated with spam registrations. Installed this on Boxing Day as I was being inundated with complaints from him and before you know it not a single spam registration.
Not only that but the author is incredibly responsive in his forum and has kindly agreed to try and get this to work with comment spam in K2 as well, which is not what it's main purpose should be.

What a nice, simple plugin to use! The documentation is clear and extended. Perfect for wanting to have only registrations validated with a certain domain email address.
The product does exactly what it says, is easy to install and configure and has all the options that you could possibly require.
The service is excellent, of the very best I've experienced. Dave does everything possible to ensure that you can get the benefit of his excellent product. He made three new versions of the product to sort out a problem that I had with another extension.

Looking for something other than a scare-off captcha for a VM site, I found RV2.
Based on the good reviews for RV1 and lightening-fast answer from Dave on a couple of questions, I bought it. Download, install, and test took no more than three minutes.
The plug-in worked out of the box with my VirtueMart login, SEF, JoomFish, and the usual extensions for a shop.
I went to botscout.com, used the name of another site I own (you need to enter a valid, online website) and immediately got a mail with my API key. Then it was just copy-paste the key to the plug in, register on my test site (localhost) with a botscout-listed email (you'll find the latest ones right on their home page), and voila: My bogus registration was rejected faster than you can say spambot with the reason for the rejection: "Sorry, your registration failed. (botty@bogusmail.com listed at www.botscout.com (click result to view)."
You can't beat that kind of efficiency and service for the very reasonable price.

Easy to use and efficient, Mykl
This extension is amazing! I use it to block unwanted spammer registrations from my church web site that I manage (as a blacklist). I also use it on an extranet site for a major electronics manufacturer to prohibit registrations by unauthorized persons (a whitelist approach - only good domains are allowed to register). This tool is HIGHLY recommend and is much more reliable and easy to use than any competitors (foobla - I'm looking at you).
Additionally, the service is friendly, top-notch and VERY responsive.
