Compatible with Windows.
Supports all the components and templates. Little complex to configure, but works out-of-box for every component.
Some server specific issue can cause you some trouble, please try to help us in debugging these issues.
Requires PHP 5.0 and greater.

I agree. I always test components on a subdomain first. I lost access to one site and could not figure out which component that I was testing had caused the problem. Guess what?..... This was it. You can not fix the problem merely by disenabling the component, you must uninstall it. I also found the coding and interface of this component to be very counter-intuitive. There are much better alternatives.

I installed it in one site, apparently it worked. I installed it in other three, with no problems (I tried them all) and, when a few hours later I went back to the sites, none was working! (I could just see an error refering to this plugin). And I couldn't access the admin panel! (same message). I unpublished the plugin in phpmyadmin but, for some reason, there is another plugin that is not working (and it worked perfectly for months). I'm still trying to solve this mess...
My advice: install something else. My configuration was suppossed to be right (php5, etc.) and now I'm starting to think I've lost everything.

Have been using several of the contact forms with integrated captcha, but on a whim thought I'd try this. Glad I did! Beautifully simple, had my contact form captcha protected in under 5 minutes, great admin control panel, clear and simple capture text that has just enough tweakable options.
If you are after just the Captcha then this is a great choice. Very easy to install and activate.

A captcha that actually stops spam! I have tried all the free captchas on JED and this one is the only one to keep me spam free for a week.
One issue, can't seem to get it to show on the virtuemart registration page...not a big deal, the robots don't seem to find this page because I don't use the VM module. 5 stars, thank you.

This is an excellent and super easy plugin. Simply download and install and bamm you have captcha on your Joomla forms. I was getting spam daily from the standard Joomla Contact form, not now!

Having tried several captcha plugins / components I was extremely pleased to find this one, it does exactly what it says, the configuration is simple and there is also plenty of documentation / support should you need it ... well recommended!

This component has a good back end structure allowing you to enable/disable per component. Unfortunately it had some weird side-effects on a client's site with the AT Akilas template and Artio JoomSEF. It worked well in firefox but in IE8 the captcha was rejected each time. In Opera it redirected all subsequent menu presses to the main page, with cacheing enabled all subsequent menu item selections on all browsers were presented with the wrong page from the cache. Killed the site stone dead, removed component, site OK.
I originally installed v1.0.19, which was a plugin....and it worked like a charm - simple, easy and did the job. So now when I need it on another site I get the latest version 2.0.56 which is now a component...which is now too complicated.
This is the usual story of making something that works well and then trying to improve it by adding in too many features, making it too complicated. I would suggest bringing back the simple plug-in for dealing with user registration only and having this version as a separate component for putting captcha on other modules and components.

Yes, because version 2.0 works for any components and templates. While 1.0 is quite easy to use but works only for limited templates and is still available to use.

Ditto to the above comments about registering on Joomlaxi.com and finding the component.
That said, it's worth the frustration. While there are some "engrish" issues, the component works without any hacks to the Joomla! core.
It works by inserting in a captcha page after submission of a form on any selected component or module. After successfully entering the captcha, the user the form submission completes.

Install on joomla 1.5.15 without problem. Very configurable with any component.
But, control code of image spam is not recognized. Need to press refresh to recognize with all browsers tested (firefox, chrome, exploreur6/8, on linux and win xp).
