I now have this running on all my sites and it has reduced spam registrations in a big way.

Only one issue is the username filter - as this sometimes blocks legit users. I would suggest a '2 out of 3' check which could eliminate this issue. Currently there is a 'all' and 1 out of 3 option.

in the past i had to look up every email in spam blocker, then use ban ip plugin... that would take several minutes and it was annoying... now it is all done automatically.. the documentation is in french but google translate is also easy... great extension!!

First I would have given you an excellent rating but The use of the extension seemed a bit unclear at first untill I received an email from it informing me of incorrect setup. For that I verbaly give you an excellent in the title but not in the rating. Now, I have had a serious problem with bots for some time attempting to register on my site. All the extensions I have used still make it so I have to deal with them personally, This is the first extension where they are stopped at the back door and I have to do nothing but be notified! Thank you for an excellent extension I can't believe it's free. You have done something no other extension has been able to do and for this I appllaud you! I highly recommend this extension to everyone. Also integrates well with CB!!

I installed it and have to say that it is working excellent. At the moment it stopped 2 attempts.
So people don't wait and just install.

This blocked every attempted spam registration and allowed every real registration since installation a week ago.

Installed and set-up with no problems.

It has probably saved our forum as the charity trustees and manager would not be happy if our forum got spammed. Merci Beaucoup.

What a relief it was to find this add-on for Joomla, really the Joomla developers really need to STRONGLY consider adding a tool like this to the core of Joomla as it is a real necessity these days.

Installed without any issues at all, although I did have to use Google to translate the download site from French to English but that was fine.

In the first hour it stopped 15 spammers from registering.... what else could you ask for. As soon as I have some spare $'s a donation is definitely going to the developer.

Never had any issues with it and probably could not live without this extension

After trying several antispam tools (including captchas, etc...), this is the one that definitelly worked for me!
I can now forget about the spam problem in my joomla! sites.

I got so tired of checking my users every day and deleting the obvious spammers (foreign email address, never logged in, etc.) and didn't know if I was missing any. This is a local,public animal welfare site that relies on donations - don't want to annoy potential donors by deleting them.

From the time I installed this component (a couple of clicks and its instant), it has rejected many attempted registrations and sent me an email each time. When I checked, they were all correct and nobody missed.

I had problem with crazy people who register into a website, whose language they don't understand.
My website language is non-English (and it is intentionally because we are addressing to people in certain country only) and the registrant wrongly filled the field defined in CB (it means that they don't understand the language)

Hence I made a modification in CB therefore whenever somebody wrongly filled the registration form, his/her registration must go through my approval before it is activated.
Needless to say, there were plenty of unactivated registrations, which needed my approval and they always came from someone who didn't understand the language in the website.

Was my problem solved?
Not yet, because I had to delete the unactivated registrations made the crazy people.

Then I found this component and installed it.
And..... it really works.
Now, my problem is reduced to receiving email notifications (plenty of them) from the component; Well, I intentionally set the email notification, hence actually it is not a problem.
No more cleaning up the user database from the crazy people, forget about the CB modification (which I have to do whenever there is new version of CB)

This works wonders! Fact is it even got me to register here, just so I could leave a review. After testing it I quickly decided to rid my site of complicated and hard-to-understand capthcas. Installation is quick, the plugin enables itself and configuring it is a no brainer.

Finally I can sleep at night, knowing that registering at my site is easy (unless you are a spammer). I also like the feature of redirecting spammers to an external site (just have to figure out a way to send them where the sun don't shine).

reCaptcha always seemed to do the job for me however in the last month reCaptcha has been cracked it appears and my non-legit account registrations on my site have gone from a few a year to 10+ a day. I was managing it myself for the last month and then got sick of that and found/installed Fly06 Spammer Blocker. Simply put, AWESOME! For the last two days 20+ spammers have been detected and blocked. Between this extension and reCaptcha spammers don't have a chance.

This is one of the greatest plugins for Joomla ever. It just plain works. With the help of many Site and Forum administrators updating the db at www.stopforumspam.com Fredericks extension allows for an easy integration that just works to keep them out.

Frederick is very accessible and helpful. At first when I was not able to get the spammer blocker to work I was frustrated. The issue was how my Community Builder was passing along the registration information. One quick email is all it took to get help. Frederick found the issue and provided a work around that got my site up and running in 1 day. Not a week not a month not a we will look into it. 1 day.

I have a site where it was becoming very time consuming to manually delete all the spam registrations and their forum posts. ReCapthca helped a bit but did not eliminate the problem.

I decided to try Fly06 Spammer Blocker and in about 36 hours it has blocked 45 registration attempts with no false positives. It has not missed any spammers yet. As my users often come up with some strange usernames I not using the facility to check usernames, just email and IP addresses.

Installation was simple and configuration took almost no time at all. Although I have been using it for less than 2 days, so far it has done exactly what it says it will.

I have run this plugin for a month on a small community site. So far it has blocked 60 spammer registration attempts and not a single unwanted attempt has managed to sneak through.

I will caution against using the username as a criteria as this may clash with "real" usernames. This happened in a single case for me. But the IP address and email address seems to be solid detection criteria.

It works perfectly and it's simple to install. The component gives you a good report on block users — email-username-IP-date. Really stop the creation of fake registered users accounts without anything to do from the part of the site administrator. Control of Email notification for block users and administrator. (and other controls how to operate the filtering)

I will have this install on all my sites.

Stopping forum spammers, even on a small site, can be a thankless, day-long job. Fly06 Spammer Blocker has stopped almost all of the spammers from registering on my site, leaving me more time to be more productive.

It's simple. It works.
I wish all extensions were this good!

This is one of the best spam protection things that i got for my site... relieved me greatly from those spammers... easy to install and configure... :)

I now use the version 1.1 beta.
After few problems (which comes from my website, not from the plugin), the plugin running well (thanks fly06 for your help). The first results are already available with 3 registration blocked in 1 hour.
To always asking more, maybe a possibility for us to send the log file to SFS if we add the API key.
