JUGA

- This extension requires registration to download.
JUGA is NOT A HACK and it is NOT ENCODED.
JUGA installs and uninstalls *easily* as a component. To activate/de-activate it, just install and publish/unpublish the JUGA Plugin/Mambot. And we believe in leaving our source code open, so you can modify JUGA as you wish.
With JUGA, you can assign users to multiple groups. In fact, you can create an infinite number of new groups, so you could assign a single user to a unique group, thereby achieving customized individual access rights for each user.
After installing JUGA, merely synchronize it with your site's components and content. Then tell JUGA which variables it should restrict for each component (in the case of Fireboard, for example, you would tell JUGA: "func", "catid", "task", "id", etc). Then, define which items each group has access to. After assigning users to JUGA groups, activate the Plugin/Mambot and voila! It works the exact same way for your back-end.
We have released a modified version of the Joomla! Main Menu Module. It has been modified to work with JUGA>>Groups and hides menu items from view when a user doesn't have access to them.
We also have a JUGA Content Plugin/Mambot. Now you can show certain portions of a content item to any/none/some/all JUGA>>Groups. It works like JHide and RokAccess.
We also have an admin-side template for Joomla! 1.0 that extends JUGA's controls over your J!1.0 Admin Control Panel. This template isn't necessary for J!1.5 as the JUGA System Plugin will already control the admin-side for you.
Finally, we also have mod_hiddenbyjuga, a JUGA Module that allows you to HIDE MODULES based on the user's JUGA Group!
With it, I'm able to expand the number of user groups on my site, show/hide menu items based on what group a user is in, and add/remove users to/from groups based upon submitting forms.
Very useful and I don't regret purchasing this product at all. Well worth it.
Nearly all the complaints I had about it have been addressed in the new release.
Well worth paying for.
Thank you guys for putting such an excellent component together! Does everything you say it does!
I also expected in the back-end to only see what I wanted to see, instead all the menu's are there, just access to them is restricted. Though this is preferable to hacking Joomla core code I believe.
Though - that being said it was worth paying for the subscription. When I gave up (turns out dummy here hadn't turned the plug-in on) I contacted the support guys at Juga. The logged in and configured it for me. Very friendly helpful support. I highly recommend them and their product.
Furthermore, restrictions can be applied on content items, components, modules and menu items.
As the subject line suggests, it does not patch a single file. Instead, restriction policies are enforced through a plugin.
Finally, it supports seamless integration with AEC subcription plans.
The support you receive from the people at dioscouri is prompt and efficient, charter membership has it's perks!
The target was to realize a good business site presenting products (no VirtueMart, only text in content), consulting skills and so on with latest Joomla (1.5.3) on Windows.
On the other hand the site must have a good group access in order to deliver reserved information (invoices, updates, etc.) to customers.
Components choosen are Remository, RSForms!, JoomFish and Juga for Group Access.
I think that Juga is really a good choice for this kind of situation.
The only issue we've found is with JoomFish Abstraction Layer: Juga must be published BEFORE JoomFish plugin in order to work as expected.
At this moment we still have a pair of issues with main menu (due to JoomFish bugs, not Juga) and a sitemap (actually this isn't present in Joomla).
On Joomla 1.0.x we have developed a lot of site with Byostech JACLPlus but it is an hack to Joomla, the concept behind Juga is totally different.
We're considering to develop some components with Juga integration, it's easy and support has given us reply in hours.
I have recently joined joomla community. I have my own 3D visualization company and all i wanted to have a basic website where i can show our work and have private access to our selected clients. I wanted to upload some spesific files to some clients and back and forth.
Because i am so new to whole deal and i want to control this whole process by myself (some CAD files are so important) i asked from JUGA developers to help me.
And Now Awesomeness begins.
They not just helped me but they did whole installation process for me. I was having problems with my template, ftp and some other features. They almost solve everything less than 2 days. I got over 15 support ticket replies in one day. Can you believe this? WHen i was banging my head to the wall, they were guiding me through. When i was going to dead end..they simply took over the process and solved it for me...
And they are SUPER kind people. Wish i could get this kind of support from every other software i use. Actually you can get this kind of support only from your mother you know:) I dont think my mother answered my stupid questions 15 times in a day :)
Juga Guys, you just ROCK and with this SUPER attitude you are truely unique...I wish you all the
BEST
(my only wish is to get video tutorials to extend my JUGA skills:))
JUGA is so much better. Easy to install and no core file patches.
I think the documentation could be improved with some more in the 'how to' section but this was more than compensated for by the superb response to help tickets. I even had a reply on a Saturday afternoon!
The cost is trivial compared to the amount of time it has saved me.
1. Requires legacy support. Until Joomla! 1.6 is released with a real built-in ACL, I need this extension (it's the only one reasonably priced that actually works for me). However, I would really prefer a J!1.5 native extension.
2. Assigning content to pre-existing groups is easy. Creating those groups, assigning them to users, and assigning entire content pieces to groups, isn't especially hard, but is VERY tedious. It would be nice to be able to filter the list of items by more specific types, such as articles and menu items. Would also be nice to have a listbox of available groups at the top of the user page, and be able to select a group from the list, checkbox to select which users to add to it, then have an "add selected users to group" button.
SECONDLY: I had a project for a client who wanted bells and whistles for membership levels. I looked at all the available components that claim to do what Juga does and finally decided it was Juga & AEC for me and my client. I then found that it did not do exactly what I wanted it to do...DON'T STOP READING HERE! I then contacted their support and asked for some customisation and help to install and within 12 hours I had what I needed. Admittedly it did cost me a small investment but it was worth every cent and my client is over the moon about his site.
It will be Juga for me every time when it comes to membership sites and defining access for particular users.
Great work - keep developing because your this component is one that will go far towrds improving the membership features of any site.
After installing and reading through the tutorial, the simple management of users and assigning them to groups and then content is easy.
The added menu module is excellent as you can hide menu points based on the group permissions.
Support is also excellent, it took the support team a few hours to sort out a bug and post the new amended code for download.
Highly recommended
thanks for a great addition to the extensions.
That is not possible. Instead you can somehow attach the article to a mod_mainmenu and then it will display all the articles. If the user does not have access they will find out AFTER clicking on the article by getting an error message that says "ERROR: Unauthorized Access"
This is not acceptable because I need my users to also remain my friends. So, I am back to the drawing board looking for a software solution that will do what I need. And, I will hope that I can get my money back since I purchased 1.5 version for Joomla 1.5.1 under wrong assumptions.
Unfortunately, this just isn't true -- JUGA *does* control what a user can and cannot see. JUGA *does* do exactly what scarney has mentioned in his first paragraph.
If he had chosen to use our mod_mainmenu_juga as a replacement for mod_mainmenu, then the restricted article link would *not* have shown up in his Main Menu.
Finally, he also could have created a page to which his users would be redirected if they attempted to access restricted content, such as a "Please upgrade your account to access this page..." The "Error: Unauthorized Access" is our default message for users accessing restricted content.
We have an array of tools for making JUGA do everything scarney wants done; for some reason, he chose not to use them.
Thanks!
