Anti Right Click Module

I have changed the hosting of the download files into Google Code, because there is something really wrong with the access on the JoomlaForge.

Thanks for all your motivations and inspirations.

As a result, this module will be enhanced and hence renamed to the Content Security Module.

It will prevent copying and pasting through highlights and keyboard shortcuts very soon.

For the moment, it uses a script from Dynamic Drive that prevents right clicking on the pages that this module is activated upon.

Installing it is super easy: -

Just hide the title using the Module Manager and position it in the topmost module position (usually "top" or "banner").

Oh yeah, and it is cross browser too, as noted by even more reviewers.

Do note that this only stops very novice Web surfers. There are other ways to right click as remarked by the reviewers.

It works great with IE 8, but sadly it doesn't work as prescribed with Firefox 3.0.10.

It looks like it is a very promising module though and I'm glad it works for at least the most popular browsers out there.

Thanks for pointing out.

Perhaps you might have Javascript turned off in your browser for that to happen.

It worked perfectly for me on my site (using Rocket Theme Template, Joomla 1.5.10 which are heavely modified to meet my site's requirements). I've tested it on a number of browsers including IE6, IE7, IE8, FireFox 2.x.x, FireFox 3.x, Google Chrome, Netscape, Mosaic and Safari and it worked seamlessly on most of them under different configurations, versions and 3rd party scripts and add-ons.

This is because I had terrible time modifying my Mynxx template to work the right way on as much browsers as possible.

Well, can't say anything more than PERFECT job. One thing one of my members noted me about; search engines cached pages! NoRightClick has no effect on SE cached pages. I tried it every possible way but could do nothing about it. Turning off SEF can do it but surely it is a bad idea.

At least my content isn't copied everywhere on the web as much as before, thanks to you. Thanks a million.

Great review there. You are most welcome.

I really like this module very much...I would like to see more features like disable "Save As", "Copy", "Select All".
Owner's reply

Thanks!

I shall take those suggestions and see if I can come up with the modifications.

The only way this could be better is if it were a plugin. Works like a charm. Very nice.
Owner's reply

Well, I am having some trouble making it into a plugin as they seem to depend on "events" like if the user is authenticated, etc.

If someone can help, that will be nice. :)

By far the easiest, most efficient, non-hassle module I've installed to date. YOU ROCK! For those who are looking for a quick solution...look no further. It does what it's supposed to and it's dummy proof.
Owner's reply

Thanks so much for your awesome feedback!

I looked all through the internet to find a way to disable right click with no success. This mod works right away and will hopefully deter some people from stealing my pictures.
Thanks

Tried FF, IE, Google, Safari, & Flock.. Works great... Just doesn't work on Opera Browsers.
Owner's reply

Thanks for the comment.

Yes. I am still finding out a way to make it work for Opera browsers.

Not many things work as perfectly as this. Install, activate the module and click no and ta da! it works! I LOVE it.

Can it come much simpler: Download, install, enable = works. It took me 46 seconds flat to get it working. I like simple things!

It might not fool the hardcore hacker, but it surely stops most people from copying content from our pages.

There are certain things that I wish to protect from viewing source and this plugin really helps. Yes, people can just go to view-->page source, press Ctrl+U, or run the no-script plugin as mylonojr stated, but I wish to prevent people from stealing some pictures I have in a simple slideshow, where users can just right click and get the link. The thing is that I have hundreds of pictures in the slideshow IN RANDOM MODE, each picture only lasting 1.5 seconds. It is a great way to "minimize" (not necessarily stop) taking some of the photos.
Owner's reply

:) Yet another practical application. It also prevents basic right clicking on images.

Installed in seconds and does exactly what it says. I use FireFox 3.0.4 with NoScript and it seems to work fine, although it doesnt stop the right click on the expose'4 gallery. It still allows the settings and about adobe.... to come up.

Still, cant see any reason not to use it. Nice.
Owner's reply

That's because Expose is a Flash-based gallery system, and unfortunately, this module does not prevent right clicking inside an embedded Flash "widget".

Flash stuff (SWF files) run within a "sandbox" environment within a Web page like a "window".

I've tested it on our setup below using Firefox 3 and IE 7 and it does exactly what it says it should. Installed in the top module position, all pages and content are now protected from "right click" copying. It was simplicity itself to install, I can see the benefits and I cannot see any disadvantages to using it.

Pretty good actually, works in Firefox 3, IE 6 (i didn't test it with IE7) and it's okay even with the new Google Chrome. There were some problems when i tried to install it though, it was complaining about an "existing" index.html inside /modules ... which should be there of course. What i did, simply rename the index.html to index.old for example and that's all.
Keep up the good work. Peace
Owner's reply

Thanks for testing it!

Didn't take much effort to get it to function properly and display how i wanted it to. A native 1.5 would be nice, but ill settle for now.

This will also prevent right click when viewing large photos in expose.

Only downside is with my template it had to add a small line to my menu area based on its position. I positioned it low so it didn't look to out of place.
Owner's reply

Yes.

It's supposed to be positioned in a way that certain templates do not push out a small line. Experienced that with some other modules here before.

Thank you for your support. :)

A 1.5 Native one is currently in production.

This is really interesting but the thing is that in Firefox with NoScript plug-in installed, right-clicking IS possible.

I just installed this and it was easy to install and works as advertised.

Maybe a Native 1.5 version could be made for those that don't want to have Legacy mode turned on.
Owner's reply

Thank you for the support!

It's the inaugural Joomla module after being inspired by a recent Joomla Day.

A 1.5 Native version is in the works.
