You can configure for each joomla! user a custom alert message and configure if user want alert for backend / frontend login.
* change in version 1.3
-- Add Language support
* change in version 1.2.3
-- FIX 404 ERROR !
* change in version 1.2
-- integrated with joomla users !
-- some bug fix
* change in version 1.1
-- add option for success login alerts (frontend/backend)
There are some issues with this component. As others have stated, there should be features that allow for the suppression of alerts based on access level. Administrators should not be alerted with Super Administrators log in.
There are also a few bugs. My Super Admin account was set to NOT notify on successful logins. And, it didn't email ME on successful logins, but it emailed every OTHER administrator. The component should respect the "email system notices" option in the user settings, or should have an ability to specify who gets the notifications, for whom else, etc.

It's really useful, and keeps the admin aware of what happens.
My notes about it are:
2. All backend users (superadmin, admins, managers) are informed by all logons to the admin panel which is impractical.
I don't want managers to know when I (as a superadmin) logged in and from what IP.
2. If you don't use a custom message, the person password is going to be exposed to add backend users, which is dangerous.
I hope these two issues are tackled in the next releases.

Magnificent. It allows me to track who logged when and from what IP, both on the front abd backend.
The only drawback is that their website has no RSS or twitter or mailing list to alert me when there is a new version of the component.
I hope in future releases, that it reports any login attempts to the backend, regardless of the user. Because a hacker might change a normal account and make it super admin and logs on, and that account is not on the watch list.
Keep up the great work!

Love the extension and this type of in-correct login attempt warning system should really be built in to joomla!
* Only 2.5 caveats/warnings with 1.2.2/1.2.3. Sent an email to developer but after a week nothing came of it. Not even his own websites version number updated. So I leave the notes below in hopes no one gets in trouble before it is all fixed.
1. It will send warnings to ALL Publisher and higher users. So if you have warnings set for Super Admins logon WITH password(default) lower users will know the admin logon or close if minor typo when logging in. Tested on the current download 1.2.2 (on website) but could be 1.2.3. And on a IIS server.
There needs to be alerts to a single email address or per-user option.
2. The download website does not update each time to what version is currently for download.
+.5 There is NO version listing in the files code that match anything so you can look up from component status in joomla or just editing the PHP.
Otherwise patiently waiting to enable this again ;)

Simple but effective.. this extension does what it's supposed to.
Well done to the creator, thank you for an added sense of security.

Very good extension. I found it hard to find a component that would warn me when a failed logon attempt takes place, and now I have!
Thanks for making this possible.
One thought though: the {site} parameter in the e-mail always tells you that the logon attempt was on the BackEnd,even if it was on the FronEnd.

Really good idea, very clean programmed, and easy to install and operate. It does what it says. It would be helpful if there would be the possibility to enter existing users into a whitelist. Otherwise the webmaster could easily guess passwords if they would incorrectly entered by a legitimate user.
