I have used this extension with 1.5 (when the extension was called by another name) and now I am going to use it with 1.6 (downloading Akeeba's latest version as we speak!).
You can NOT go wrong with Akeeba. It is solid, simple, effective, designed with attention to detail and on top of that the documentation is great (to say the least). Kudos to the developers for this outstanding extension.

I installed this a couple of months ago. It worked, but didn't really need it until 2 nights ago. My virtual dedicated server through GoDaddy had a hardware failure. I upgraded to a dedicated and then went to the Akeeba website to read up on how to restore the backup. I was a little nervous because 1) i'm not that experienced in Linux 2) i'm even LESS experienced with MySQL/PHPMyAdmin.
The restoration was A BREEZE!! It restored my tables, ALL of my files and the site was back up and running LIVE within 30 minutes!!
TO THE CREATOR(S): I must say please don't ever stop making components for Joomla! This is probably one of the best, well designed components i've seen. No bugs that i can tell, the documentation was well written. Well done guys! If i had your address I would send you some beer for this, but then you'd be too drunk to make more awesome products!

Akeeba Backup is not only the perfect backup and restore program. It is also the standard against which all other Joomla, nay, any software package should be held to.
It installs perfectly. It updates perfectly. It informs you with what is going on. The documentation is perfect. The forum is usable and active. This is rarely done with even the simplest extensions, yet Akeeba Backup has to take in so many variables that it is amazing.
There are many well-intentioned providers in the Joomla world, and many great programs. There are some who go out of their way to help, but none that I have used compare in efficiency on every point of user friendliness and getting the job done.

I've used akeeba for a while now and just upgraded to the 3.1.5 last version. I had an issue with the 'Exlude folders' function : the developer himself took care of my problem and after few mails, all was working perfectly. This extension is so cool, and the support is so efficient ! If there was a possibility to give six stars to this extension i would'nt hesitate !!!
Having designed web sites for a few years I can honestly say that this is so easy to use,and also appears to be bullet proof, that it it is probably one of the best extensions ever written.
I have had no experience with support as it was never needed. And yes I will be donating!

This component is easy to install and use. Up in a minute. Backs up very well and allows very quich download of the backup.
The manual is also nicely written and proves to be a great help.
In general, great component and a must have for a Joomla site.

Great functionality, and operates exactly as advertised. This features available in the free version are extremely useful. This is an indispensable extension!
You shouldn't even THINK about installing a Joomla! instance with out using this product! I've just subscribed to the pro subscription because ITS SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!
What's more, Nicholas and his crew release updates to this product constantly, and they were smart enough to make the product intelligent and capable of letting you know when an upgrade is available! Every time I use it, it improves. These guys rock!
