This is my new "must-have" extension for all of my joomla websites.

The impact on your loading times may vary depending on your internet connection.
If you've got a real fast connection you might not feel a great difference, but I REALLY recommend this for slower connections (e.g. when you are using a wireless connection like gprs).

Great tool! I think the guy who said it didn't make a difference, probably didn't hit the update gears button a second time after it was installed. You must do this to enable it.

This guy left a review and said "I cant feel any difference"... I mean seriously...are you serious? lol

I have been using Joomla to administer the website at work, we have Gears on that site, so it works great.

I'm currently setting up an online magazin & it was taking agggggeeeeesssssss to sort out simple things like categories & sections & I was close to chucking in the towel, but I suddenly thought of this thing we have at work.

I'll tell you what, it's bloomin' wonderful!! I'm no longer getting the 'timed out'error, and I've managed to sort out various bits on the site super quickly. My only gripe is that I wish I'd done it sooner!!

Everything installed quickly & easily with no problems at all, and was up & running in less than 5 minutes with almost 1000 files to update.

I love having this plugin installed - It makes editing articles SO much faster, because now my browser doesn't have to make 100 HTTP requests to check if the WYSIWYG editor button images have changed (which they haven't).

Only been using for about 5 minutes, I will contact the developer directly if I see any problems. So far - GREAT!

This pluggin worked fantastic the first day i used it, was really impressed. The following day i updated my google browser to the latest version, then every time i loaded my website the browser said it had to close. There seemed to be some conflict with gears and my website, so unfortunately i have disabled this pluggin. It may be something i have or havn't done or the google browser. It worked fine in firfox & Ie.

YOW! What a difference! I'm on Cricket Broadband, which is often slower than dialup. Administering Joomla is now a pleasure instead of being as painful as filing your teeth ;')

I cant feel any difference. Plugin enabled, files uploaded but site speed doesnt change. Maybe it cant be faster?

This plug-in is pure genius. My Joomla admin speed was okay before, but now it is smoking fast! Definitely saves me so much more time! I use mainly in Google Chrome. Thank You Mr. Phil Taylor!

I had been receiving the gears-manifest.php failed, status code 502 when I tried to update gears. I then tried changing the permissions for that file to 755 but I still got the error. Then I went and changed the file permissions to 777 and now it's working.

This extension makes Joomla into a totally different experience. It is like going from a push bike to a car, without the pollution.

This should indeed be part of Joomla, it makes it so much easier to administer a joomla site.

Just make sure PHP5 is running or gets activated. For 1and1 hosting you need to create .htaccess in the web root folder with the following lines.

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
