Define which component you ever want for quick access, assign icons you like. Restrict access, rename, access keys - many options ...
With the installation a component and a module will be installed and automatically activated (standard module is only inactiv). If you ever decide to DEinstall CQI, your former standard module will be activated again

CQI ist der Ersatz für das Standardadminmodul 'Quick Icons'. Schneller, einfacher Zugriff auf die am meist benötigten, beliebtesten Anwendungen.
Definierung beliebiger Komponenten, Namen, Icons, Berechtigungen ... etliche Einstellmögichkeiten. Mit der Installierung wird das Standardmodul INaktiv geschaltet. Sollte CQI jemals wieder deinstalliert werden, wird das vorige Standardmodul automatisch wieder aktiviert

Release 2.1.6 (Joomla 1.5.x) published on 11.Sep.2009 is primary a bugfix and maybe the last 'free' release.
Worked great on our Joomla 1.5 site straight out of the box.

After some issues getting the extension running due to poor coding practices (Using the depreciated TYPE property instead of the ENGINE property in the SQL statements. Type has been depreciated since MySQL 4.0) I managed to get it working.
The interface is, albeit, a little clunky but it does the job. Would have been 4 stars had the developer been reading the MySQL release notes, or checked the warnings for his SQL statement.

We develop sites for many types of clients, many of which have very little comfort or skill at using the Joomla backend.
This administrator component allows us to create customized admin icons in the backend for each user type and pinpoint the website management workflow and useability for our clients.
The less the client knows, the more you need this.

This extension is exactly what I was looking for an the level of features is very extensive. I would recommend to anyone to use this extension if you are looking to have custom icons in the control panel...there are other extensions for this and it is possible to do it manually but this extension made it so easy to edit and customize on a per-user basis that I kind of mad it took me this long to find this. :)
I've been using Joomla! for 3 years and I just can't believe I haven't found this useful extension since. It really enhances the backend experience both for developers and clients!
I'm using this extension with Quickicons for VM by Arvind Chauhan, and both of them extensively improve the backend interface.

I can't believe I hadn't found this before. This extension works great and will be a part of every Joomla website I build from now on. Thank you.
Clients, jobs and trends come and go, but Custom Quickicon remains the most powerful extension for admin configuration.
With it you can create custom icons and links to obscure parts of the administration, if it has a unique link you can "iconize it" . Yes, even modules, making those text modules with copy easier to manage.
What I especially love is the ability of creating user specific icons. In a multi user environment it is a very nice feature.
Bottom line: if you don't use CQI you are missing out.

This is a great component. Easy to install and makes the control panel more user friendly - for those who need the simplicity or easy access.
It doesn't take long to figure out and well worth the time anyway.
I would suggest on small feature; when linking a component, it would be great if the icon automatically changed to the components logo.

Joomla! back-end is easy to use. But you can still find users, which can't use Joomla! back-end, because "it's too complicated for them". Use CQI for this kind of peoples - a way to make easy thing more easy...

Wow. This extension is very useful and extremely easy to install and configure.

Very simple to configure, and just gets it done :)

Don't know why I didn't implement this on all my Joomla sites a long time ago!!! Awesome component/module.
A great way to idiot-proof your back-end for non-power users.
There is an automatic selector for where to point an icon too, but the fact that you can just enter any back-end URL (index.php?=..) is FANTASTIC!
Here's an example of an icon I made.
Icon links to editing a specific module (ID happened to be 19): index.php?option=com_modules&client=0&task=edit&cid[]=19
I just went to edit the module manually and copy and pasted the end of the URL starting with index.php...

This is just excelent! I can't find any other words that describes it better. Awesome work, and this plugin has got a tight spot in my "Important" folder.
