This has been a great little tool! It works very well. I seem to be missing icons for the New/Edit/Delete buttons in the admin panel, but everything else is perfect!

Congratulations for your great extension. Although it works only in Legacy mode in Joomla 1.5, it helped me out pretty much. I've been looking for a module to display the links of user-defined categories, and in a customizable way, but since I haven't found one I decided to make my own module. So my module will be called Val-LinX and I hope is going to be published soon in Joomla Extensions. -Based on your great component. Cheers!

this is a really great component for my needs. The links manager built into joomla doesn't 'point' directly to other websites, which makes it unappealing for link exchanges. this component was easy to install & straightforward in it's use. it's a great way to manage your links section!

I was looking for a simple reciprocal links exchange component for Joomla 1.5. Having read a negative post here about LinX is not working on J1.5, I decided to try by myself. Guys, it does work perfectly! Just don't forget to turn on Legacy mambot in your backend Admin Panel. And then everything works just fine. As to minuses - probably I didn't catch how to put banners along with text links - is there such option? But as soon as I believe the banners are only good lookwise, and almost useless for SE, i can live with that. And even enjoy:) Guys, thanks for your work!/ Yuri Yeleyko, Lviv, Ukraine

Thanks for letting us use this component for free. But the function is poor.

Please add some new features, such as thumbnail/snapshot for links, user rating/vote, visitor's review/comment.

There is also a bug: When I set my own link description in Chinese words, they were turned to unreadable symbols at frontend of this component. That means this component does not support utf-8 encoded double-byte characters.

Well I loved this component when I had joomla 1.0 (but even than I had to make some code changing coz of wrong link code were showing to wisitor) but at the moment I had to jump to 1.5 and unfortunately I cant make it work in UTF 8 encoding using Russian language. Hope there will be solution soon.

This is a nice component for simple reciprocal link management, however it is littered with many PHP notices which render it virtually unusable unless you turn off notice reporting in PHP. This reflects a somewhat sloppy approach to development, and raises concerns over the quality of the programming.

Otherwise, the features are nice, and presentation overall is good - it should fit into most site templates without much tweaking being necessary. There were 3 features that I would really like to see added:

1) Nested categories (you can only have one level of categories at present)
2) Given that the whole point of reciprocal linking is usually to improve search engine ranking (albeit the importance of reciprocal links in this has now diminished significantly), the ability to specify a number of titles/descriptions/URLs for people to link to - perhaps publishing one chosen at random from those available (eg. you get to define 10 different links to different parts of your site, and when someone wants to exchange links, the component would pick one of those at random for the user to publish on their site).
3) For the same reason (SEO), it would be nice to allow a title attribute to be defined for the link.

More advanced features could be added (eg. allowing a logo upload), but I think the above 3 are the most important.

If your requirements are for a simple reciprocal linking system and you don't mind the lack of SEO features (or you can tweak the component to improve them yourself), this component will do the job. For now I am sticking with a modified version of Bookmarks.

This program is no good for a reciprocal program. It has errors and after going to the forum, no help.

Just tried this one in my J1.5 and it is working fine with compatibility mode turned on and even works with SEF url's

We love this component. It does it's own link verification and is easily configurable with the ability to add categories.

LinX is an easy to set up, easy to use tool, and it is a very powerful resource for managing reciprocal link relationships. The support on questions is fast and thorough.

It does what it say it does. Great tool for exchanging your links with other websites and improving your Google and other search engines ratings. I would appreciate a small tutorial how to, otherwise you spend extra 30 min figuring out all necessary steps

Simply a good module.
The only thing that is unclear is that you have to link to it from a menu manually:
just add an item to a menu, select "component" and in the next page select "LinX". That should do it.

Also your webmaster has to enable cURL in the PHP.
