Almond Classifieds Component for Joomla!(1.5, 1.6) includeds the following features: users can submit ads with photos; Admin. can create as many ads categories as it is needed. For each category the set of ad fields (such as price, city, age, area, etc.) can be specified in different formats such as "text", "textarea", "select", "checkbox". Optionally verification code can be applied to prevent using automated spamming programs.Admin can delete the list of spam ads using search by spam keywords, spammers e-mails or IP addresses.
Javascript checking ads submitting form before sending to the server. Privacy Mail, which hides the e-mail addresses.
We have been using the Ultimate edition for over a year and are very satisfied.
It was easy to install, has been very stable, we have had no trouble modifying the layout to suit our needs and Almondsoft have been very quick to respond to our questions we had along the way.

This component has the best of both worlds – it is simple to install and configure yet very effective and nicely presented.
As soon as it is installed, you see a picture of what the front page will looks like. You link the component to a menu item and hey presto – it works! There are only two configuration areas, an admin interface and a configuration section where you can set the whole component up to suit your requirements.
Basically, it can be set for use with from one to any amount of categories and from one to any amount of countries. The nice thing is that you can customise one particular area, save it, test it and then go back in quickly and change or set up the next step.
All in all, a very useful, free component and highly recommended by me. The support is reasonable and friendly and I suspect the paid for version will offer even more and better facilities.

This is a really good extension and it encompasses a lot of very interesting features.
Moreover, the help of dev team is really enjoyable for guys like me!
The only point that I could push forward, is the lack of complementary modules that could make adclassified websites more powerfull.

I have a paid version, not the non commercial version. I tried the free version as a test as AlmondSoft suggests. It installed and worked in a flash.
There are about 6-7 versions from free to Ultimate. No matter what you settle on there is something in the next package up that you will want. That is life. The free version works well, and has a two level geo-location setup. Like state/town or anything else you want to use it for.
You can upgrade at the difference in price between versions, but you can't upgrade the content of the system, databasse wise. You have to start over.
So, buy what you want to start with.
Extensive location database files are supplied with upper versions. I.E. "The World". Saves a LOT of typing.
It is easier to cull out what you don't want than to enter it by hand.
You can add to the location data base incrementally. Start with Portugal and add the US etc.

This extension is superb. If there were 10 stars I would give it 10 stars. The support is great, the flexibility and technical detail is excellent, the team at Almond Software have provided joomla with one of the finest extensions available on this directory for download. It is easily better than virtually all other classifieds software online. Great job!

It does work in Joomla 1.7, but the restrictions in the free version make it pretty much unusable (there is no user integration into the Joomla user base, there is no search function, e-mail is not smtp based and uses incorrect php parameters -it takes the localhost, not the domain you are using which is a joke).
I would probably still buy the commercial version, but the price they ask for that does not make any sense to me, especially with the risk of not getting the functionality I need.
For me, the search for a good and affordable tool continues.

So far this plugin looks pretty good, but I have a major problem with it. When I make a page to display the Classifieds, it FAILS the W3C code check with over 140 Errors and about the same Warnings. WAY to many.
The HTML code it outputs is very bad in my opinion. Which by all the major Search Engines say that can/will bring down the SERPS for that
Website. In turn I would have to do major core hacks to make the output code Validate with the W3C to feel happy using this plugin.
If the Pro version has poor HTML output also, I wouldn't waste my money for it.
If this is a fluke then my bad, if not I would rather go with something like Noah's Classifieds instead.

this is my NEW favorite extension. absolutely incredible developing bypasses the login because a user creates a new ad on the front end with a separate email and password to edit ad. therefore kiddies, this DOES WORK with community builder 1.2 latest and i imagine ANY COMPONENT even if it uses login! it also works beautifully in joomla 1.7x!! oh and this free classified extension is quite possibly the best SIMPLE classified solution you have ever used - not to mention a simple and light component. i did have to turn off avatar sampling because my photos werent showing at first and animated gifs dont stay animated but i imagine this is doable with imagemagick. i just cant believe this. it is not to good to be true... its just really good! thank you and i will consider the commercial version if all remains well but free rocks too! xx den
The free version is absolutely great, no question about it. The only thing which is missing is a module which can show anywhere in the site the latest ads, most favorite, most visited or top ads for specific categories.
The support is also fantastic, I get a reply in just a few hours!! Thank you for such a great free Joomla extension.

freaking awesome, this component have all you need for a classified site.
I cant figure out something more i could need for a ad site.
Easy to setup easy to understand and fine code that are easy to change in, who needs documentation for this extension? does who dont understand it after 5 min should go and pay some one to administrate there site becuse they will never find a bether solution.

Caught your attention, didn't I? well its for a good cause, these fellows who wrote this script deserve a standing ovation from Craig. Who's Craig? well, the owner of Craigslist.com I suppose.
This program is BETTER and more FLEXIBLE than Craigslist.com, seriously! How many times do you really get more than you hoped for? I regards to this program I surely did. I used the free version for about a year and decided to finally step up my game and buy the Pro version; the price tag of $195 USD, did scare me a bit, but in retrospect I should have bought it sooner.
Support is FAST, I live in Los Angeles and I believe these fellows are in London, but I sent an email to them around 4 pm L.A. time and received a reply within minutes, the email solved my issues, was professional and to the point; Either these guys are Vampires, they had one too many Red Bulls or simply care enough about their product that they check their support emails regularly.
Kudos to Team Almond for creating this Program, I truly love it.

I used the free version for about a year and decided to finally step up my game and buy the Pro version; the price tag of $195 USD, did scare me a bit, but in retrospect I should have bought it sooner.
Support is FAST, I live in Los Angeles and I believe these fellows are in London, but I sent an email to them around 4 pm L.A. time and received a reply within minutes, the email solved my issues, was professional and to the point; Either these guys are Vampires, they had one too many Red Bulls or simply care enough about their product that they check their support emails regularly.

So far very pleased with this extension. It can be tricky at times but once you get familiarized all becomes clear and straight forward. Highly customizable even for us with very poor knowledge of programming and scripting. Extension comes in English, but it gives you the choice of translating everything to your languaje, in our case, spanish and portuguese. It took us 1 hr to translate it all.
We've got the free version first and being free, costumer service was still responsive and helpful. We upgraded to the Pro Version which I highly recommend and now costumer service is been incredible. Thanks Bo for all your help and advises. Without you we would be far back in schedule. Good luck and keep ip up !!

It takes some time to get to know this compnent. Figuring out how the setting work are easier, but adjusting the colors and language is a bit more complicated.
There is no user integration in this version. For me that's exactly what I needed.
The support is fast, clear and helpfull. I am very happy I found this component and plan to use it in more projects.

Reason you get an 'x' instead of a picture is due to the size - either increase limit in the admin section or decrease size of pic before uploading.
Having difficulties sending "Private Email" from the ad.
