- This extension requires registration to download.
First of all, the extension works exactly as you would expect. It may not have some of the bells and whistles others have (which are entirely unnecessary for most people) but it does what it is supposed to, and it does it well.
I have purchased a number of premium extensions in the JED and required support, what I have received is nothing like what this developer gave me. Quick response, professional and provided almost instant positive results.

Excellent extension and support has been absolutely great so far. As most extensions you may have wait a little bit longer for a response at times but I dealt with Bob and he was very helpful and pleasant with helping with customizing and issues arriving from that.
Extension has been very flexible and has work great for a application and database process for our in-house HR department. It has the ability to do so much more but that is all we needed and it works great. Would recommend to anyone.

I have to say after testing all of the job application systems out in this directory, this one is the most impressive in terms of functionality. It is very customizable and works great. Plus, the support has been excellent with the developer promptly responding to all my support requests.
As they say, don't judge a book by the cover. The developer's site does not do him justice, the product is way better than the design of his site, which is often the case with good developers.

I installed this product on a client's site (almost two years) where they list job postings for the State Dept. and everything has to be very exact. My client loved it... and it was easy to use. If an extension is not easy to use, I've found my clients DON'T use it. And JobGrok worked great until I upgraded to the latest version this past week.
The client needed to be able to increase the size of the job requirements text, and Bob was super in doing just that within a few hours after we made contact.
Also, after the upgrade the menu items didn't link correctly to JobGrok pages. Once identified as a conflict with sh404SEF, I enabled the core Joomla SEF URLs, and everything worked again. Bob is going to work on that, but in the meantime there is a very adequate work-around.
The reason I wanted to leave a review of the product, besides the fact it works great, is that Bob really understands what Customer Service means. He was quick to respond, extremely courteous and helpful in getting everything working correctly. Any extension developer who responds that way to my problems is someone I would not hesitate to recommend to everyone.
Bottom line is, if you need a job listing component for your website, this is a great extension, and you can count on great support.

To be honest, i am always highly sceptical when a product gets so many enthusiastic reviews. In most cases it seems too good to be true. But now i am sitting here and writing also one of these reviews because everything written before is far away from being exaggerated! To make it short i will give you a simple example for the great support:
The original date format(MM/DD/YYYY)for the postings was not compatible with the date format used in Germany (DD/MM/YYYY). I asked Bob Steen for a solution and only two days after my request, he published an updated version of JobGrok with the ability to configure the date format!

I'm writing this review to express my extreme happiness with this component. This component is a very comprehensive Job Listing script that allows more functionality and flexibility than another Job Listing script.
Thanks to Bob's great assistance (and I mean a lot of personal time was invested by Bob) we were able to essentially custom program the listing software to work for a grant application system. Bob worked tirelessly with our firm (and through the end-client's scope changes) for a few months on his own code and helping us to create work-arounds for such heavy customization.
The end result was a great grant application system that allows our client to be the only department at their major university that has such a system. Thanks to Bob we were even able to get it working correctly on Windows IIS too!
I cannot express my thanks and gratitude to Bob and his team over there. If nothing else this software should get an excellent because of the level of support. We are so excited to see the next step of development. Keep up the good work, Bob!

Building Joomla sites for a living, I have come to reply a lot of extentions from all the wonderful minds in our community. I never hesitate to pay for some of these because it saves me a LOT of time! That's worth it to me!
And I almost NEVER post a comment here. I save that for the rare ones.. To me, when I pay money, I expect a good product. If thats what I get, great... but its like a tip.. Im not going to leave a comment for just getting exactly what I pay for... For me its the SERVICE/SUPPORT that makes the difference.
Bob @ JobGrok is amazingly quick with his responses and helpful the first time around.
If you need a great Job Board tool and are a bit concerned with the money JobGrok asks... take it from a prefessional developer... Its worth EVERY DIME!!!!!

Well, I must start off and say these folks are the diamond standard when it comes to customer support. I don’t often hand out compliments, but I felt the need to register just to post this.
There was a small issue with the customers hosting environment I was developing on. I put in a support request on a Friday night and by Saturday morning I had a working patch . I wish the folks I have on payroll had this kind of work ethic.
Overall, the product performs flawlessly, does everything it should, and nothing it should not. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to add job posting and candidate management functionality to their site.

I installed JobGrok premium on a client website and was up and running with minutes. It was easy to configure and any problems I had were answered very quickly by Bob.
The project is seems to developing and improving rapidly with suggestions from users being implemented in the regular updates.
What would really enhance the service would be better documentation. That is not to say the component is hard to use, but there are some excellent features that you would not stumble across unless told.

One of the advantages of Joomla! is the sheer number of extensions that are available to extend the base installation. If you are looking to include a method for add job recruitment I would recommend that you take a look at JobGrok. The authors have a good understanding of the open source model of software development offering both a free and a commercial version, and offer support for both.
Beyond just the OS Model, JobGrok has easy to understand code, well commented and easy to follow along. No obfuscation or complex objects with hidden trails to find. Modifications are relatively easy if you read the notations. Just what good OS code should be.
On the implementation side, it is easy to install, and easy for end-user admins to manage once it is up and running. This is key since most "managers" of this type of package will be from Human Resource departments, while installers and code maintenance will be done by IT staff.
While ready for prime-time, the developers seem to also understand that, like most Open Source projects, it is growing and evolving. My experience with the support staff has been positive when suggesting areas of improvement and possible additions to the package. I do not have enough time using JobGrok yet to give any feedback on how/when those suggestions get implemented, but they have been very receptive to ideas.
Our company is moving ahead with using JobGrok, and I have to at least recommend giving it a serious try. I was able to give a working demo to our HR department with just a few hours of installation and population of the multitude of options available. This extension definitely deserves two thumbs up. I look forward to seeing this project grow even further.
