Finally! a link directory system that displays SEO friendly links. This extension installs easily, has just what I expect in the backend management, and the code is clean and easy to customize. Good Job!

Seams like a nice little link exchange component and i agree that it has pontentials.
Unfortunately it showed up like scrambled eggs in my 247portal-b-blue template. The text was all center formatted
and i couldnt find anywhere in the css or the files to left
adjust the text so i couldnt use it. I checked on sites with a live version and everything looked nicely lined up.
Was thinking maybe my template is to wide but not sure.
Might be a bug...otherwise the functionality is great.

Please use the support forum if you are having issues with LinX. No one else has notified me of this issue, so it might be template specific.

I installed LinX and it works out of the box.

Features that would be nice to have in LinX.
1- One nice feature that all directory structure needs is missing so far in LinX: Alphabetical sorting.
LinX just list your entries as you put them and there's no way to rearrange them from let's say A to Z.
I hope a fix, update or trick can come out soon for the alphabetical sorting that's missing.

2- It doesn't support images. So, you're out of luck if you were to be listing companies with their logos.

Sorting has been introduced in version 1.0

This is the best links component I've come across, tried a few but this beats them all. It's simple and has great advantage of checking for reciprical link before submission.

Check it out in use at www.bingohideout.co.uk

There's also a new update out now so it works fine with J1.0.11/Register Global Off.

A living, breathing project with what appears to be an active developer. This components has so much potential and I'm extremely glad I installed it. Will become more involved as time allows, but for now I'm thrilled.

Not sure why, but the breadcrumbs don't work for this at all. Should say 'Home > Links', but it says nothing. All other pages work fine.

This is a great SEO addon for any site!

I have begun to get involved in the development of this component which also now includes:

1) Ability to edit and move listings between categories in admin.
2) Added the Itemid to all sef url links to ensure the use of the pathway.
3) Added the ability to use the Alexa thumbnail service for small screen shots of the reciprocating site.
4) Redone parts of the layout to use tags as opposed to tables.
5) Changed the page navigation so that it only shows when there are a minimum of 5 links showing.

I would also like the ability for users to edit their own listings in the event that they change their site strucure and also a page for users to suggest a category but these will be in a future release.

You can see it in action here: http://www.perfectdesigning.net/link_exchange.html.

Please do exchange links, so long as you run a website that is web related, such as web design, development, hosting, etc!

Hope this helps

This component has some good potential, I like the feature that it can check for you to make sure link exchange partners are still linking back to you etc.

However at this stage it's still in its early stages and therefore has a few bugs that need to be ironed out. The one I've come across will come up with an error if you try to insert a link for a site which is ALREADY linking back to your site.

There appears to be good support in the forums though, I'm looking forward to the kinks being fixed and new extra goodies put in!

I like it, now only if you could integrate some banner functions and this would be one sweet component. Can't wait to alter the code when it will be released as open source.

Tested it with joomla 1.0.8 and it works fine.

This component uses fopen to validate the submitted links and will not work on servers that run in safe mode.
Owner's reply

LinX now has support for CURL and does not require register globals to work
