My experience with Wordpress for Joomla Tech support has led me to recommend this component. I was looking for a component that allows posting by emails and was thrilled to find that Wordpress was able to do this. I agree that this component needs a lot of improvement and certain parts still have glitches. What is apparent however is the effort to combine Wordpress and Joomla, and this is exemplary.

I have installed Wordpress for Joomla since about a month and have tinkled about it for the whole time, going through configurations and eliminating conflicts. What I am mostly impressed by and what I considered to be priceless is the Technical support received from this Corephp. I am largely satisfied with the support and their willingness to help resolve any issue.

The fact that Wordpress allows multi-blogs makes it worthwhile and also providing you access to countless numbers of plug-ins in Wordpress framework, so I recommend Wordpress for Joomla very highly.

This is a great extension, if you are serious about blogging and have a joomla site, this is a must have.

install was easy. I had some problems with it integrating with my sh404sef extension but the staff at corePHP bent over backwards to make it right. it is hard to find customer service as good as I recieved. two thumbs way up!

I have been working through this component - testing it for a client, and hit a clash with another component. The support was excellent - quick responses, support was fast to find the errors, and the bug fix (the other organisation's code) was made to the promised schedule. The process of upgrading an issue from the forum to submitting a ticket is effective too.

I originally purchased ver 2.. After a lot of tickets submitted and them trying to get it to work on my site.. they finally fixed some of the bugs. When version 3 came out, I went to log into my account to download the latest version, only to find my account had been deleted, and not able to log in. I emailed the company.. They reponded the next day asking for my subscription details.. I e-mailed them back immediately.. 4 days later and still NO response from them..Even after send 3 e-mails requesting the fix my account so I can get the latest version. I paid 69.95 for 12 months access to upgrades...Now can't even do that!!
Owner's reply

Mark,

We have fixed the error with your account so you can access the downloads. I do apologize that we did not promptly get back to you in the 4 days you mentioned, though as I explained in the ticket (and can be seen by viewing the ticket in our support center) our ticketing system was having problems receiving email from your account as it has found its way into our email blacklist. This has been prevented in the future.

The only outstanding issue is that you wish to receive support on multiple sites with one subscription which we denied. Our terms of service states that we support one domain per subscription and we already fixed issues on a previous Wordpress for Joomla installation of yours.

If you require further assistance or have any questions, feel free to contact us again through our ticket system or forums.

Kindest regards,
Andy Poorman

If you're using Version 2 then keep it.

So far after 2 months of using version 3 I'm still regularly reporting bugs and the support from the developers is friendly but quite slow.

Personally I would stick to version 2 until all the bugs / issues have been ironed out.

Use version 3 at your own peril...

Mark

So if you own it, don't upgrade your WP. Before I purchase this I contacted their support because WP 3.0 was released and I was concerned about which version to buy since WP 3.0 essentially eliminates WPMU, so not sure if should be the WPMU version or the regular WP version. I am writing this because people who own 2.9.2 should NOT upgrade their WPMU to WP 3.0 yet according to their support. I was going to purchase the version for WPMU 2.9.2, but was told that the subscription that works for 2.9.2 would be different so I would have to pay twice and that I should wait until the new release, which will be at least several more weeks to release. The problem for me is that if I had gone ahead and purchased it without calling them, in the back end of WP I probably would go ahead with the upgrade of WPMU to 3.0, not realizing that my CorePHP component would not work with it and that even though I just purchased the subscription for a year for 2.9.2, I would be obligated to buy the new subscription for 3.0 (when released). I don't think this is a good business practice not to clarify this to customers, as for me it would be an investment of $198 instead of the $99 for the promised one year subscription that would be useless if I go ahead to automatically upgrade my blog as recommended by Wordpress. At some point I may buy this extension when they release it for 3.0, but feel that for those customers who have current subscriptions for 2.9.2, there should be an upgrade to the new version since sticking with old versions of WP is a notoriously risky business as evidenced by widespread hacking in the very recent past. I think it's crucial for Core PHP to notify their customers NOT to upgrade to 3.0 BEFORE buying the extension. As of right now, after much research on their site and the support person I spoke to, there is no reference to this issue by them.

smtotman,

I can understand your concern, but I would also appreciate if you do not misinform the rest of the users. If you currently own WordPress or WordPress MU for Joomla, you will be able to upgrade to the new subscription for a fee, it will not be full price, nor do we know the full price that the new subscription will be sold at, but it will not be $99 USD as the current subscription for WordPress MU for Joomla!

More information can be found here one our blog post:

I hope this answers some of your concerns.

I never have time to write reviews! But I do read reviews before I purchase a product.
Often quite carefully
I am also quite cynical of reviews because often it feels as though they have been planted by the creator of the product

So when I bought corePHP Wordpress I carefully studies what had been written and on average the reviews all balanced out and I decided to go ahead

I was also buying the product for a Non-Profits website so money is tight and I needed to be sure

Well I am sorry to say I have ended up feeling very disappointed with this extension.

But it is important to explain why so other people don't make the same mistake.

I had already purchased a quite sophisticated Joomla template which I am basically very happy with.

But it was important to be able to add WordPress style capability to it

So I looked around and settled on Corephp because the product looked good and the support seemed to be there.

But it didn't work properly and now I know why

Essentially the developers themselves admit that they can't take into account all the Joomla Templates that are made.

So while the basic workings of this Wordpress extension are very good and I can see on a simple Joomla template it would work fine.

Trying to incorporate it into anything as substantial as the Rocket Theme template I am using is a recipe for disaster unless:

1) You are very skilled with Joomla Templates
2) You have a lot of time
3) Or and here is the catch - you are willing to pay the developers to do the work for you

Now, when I purchase something I like to know all the facts.

Its like going into a shop you want to know whether the thing you are going to buy is going to work

But this didn't for me and there are no refunds offerred and I am on such a tight deadline I can't afford the time to write to the developers.

So sorry guys, I am not trying to trash your product. As I said I am sure it works really well on simple Joomla Templates

But I think you need to warn people before they buy that they may well be wasting their money if they are using more complex templates

Because if you don't one is left with not such a good impression.

So work on it guys - it is really good what you are offerring but.....accept and admit its limitations
Owner's reply

Hi, and thank you for your review, and I do apologize for the delay in reply.
You are right, we cannot account for all Joomla templates that are made as sometimes styles are not the same, this is why our extension ships with two different stylesheets, a default which contains most of WordPress styles except for font changes and most font sizes, and a minimalistic stylesheet in the case that the default one does not look right. There is also an extra option to remove all stylesheets for WordPress and this will allow you to style WordPress for Joomla to your liking.

I can understand that not everyone is a skilled Joomla template developer, but it might have just been one style line that was causing the issue between your template and our extension, which by submitting a support ticket we could have fixed it if it was indeed our fault and also fixed it for future customers.

I would also like to send you a link to this website which uses a RocketTheme template and our WordPress for Joomla extension:

If you like scheduling posts to be released in the future, this extension isn't for you; it requires a cronjob for each post.

If you want to migrate your entire existing Wordpress site over to your new blog, this extension isn't for you; corePHP cannot migrate image galleries.

If you don't know how to edit css, this extension isn't for you; the software requires heavy editing to look at all professional.

I'd consider just installing the Wordpress software and avoiding the $100 yearly fee charged by corePHP.
Owner's reply

Thank you for the review. I do have to correct this review though:

1: Running a cron job is normal behavior for Wordpress. This is not a restriction upon our part but as in part of how Wordpress operates.

2: While it is true we can not migrate the image gallieries - the same goes for a single installation of Wordpress. This is not a limitation on the software enhancements we have created. Although it is possible to make the migration run smoothly - there is documentation on the net about doing these types of migrations from Wordpress to Wordpress and the same applies for the Joomla! version.

I thank you again for your review and just wanted to update the readers on what exactly is being said.

Kindest regards,

I've tried a few times to set up a word press blog and then just put it in a wrapper to sort of integrate with my site. It's like having and maintaining two different sites. I doubt this makes search engines happy, or accomplishes my goal of regularly adding new content to my website to improve its visibility and to allow visitors to interact with me (and thus, its usefulness to others).

I got this up and running just the way I wanted it in one Saturday morning. The tutorials were very straightforward, and it has a lot of flexibility. I've also added several WordPress plugins with no problems. I do not know any PHP at all.

I highly recommend this extension to anyone who wants to add WordPress (a powerful blogging tool) to their Joomla website.

This is my first review of any Joomla Extension, after using Joomla for 4 solid years consistently. This is however, the first time I have ever purchased an extension for this much money (not really a lot but still).

If you want to be able to use Wordpress within Joomla, this is the way to go. The time you will save by going this route alone, will be worth the money. It is exactly like having Wordpress on your site, except its fully integrated with Joomla and your current Joomla template.

Before I came across this on accident (didn't even think of looking for an extension like this), I was getting ready to take my current Joomla template and slicing it up into a Wordpress theme so I could implement Wordpress on a Joomla site. That would have taken me hours of work. Using this extension with the different components and modules took me under an hour (and I watched a 25 minute long video tutorial, which by the way was a lot of help).

GREAT EXTENSION!

I looked at a bunch of blogging components, but none of them offered the functionality of WordPress, and this extension makes it super simple to integrate WP with Joomla. Definitely worth the modest subscription fee.

We have been using corePHP's WordPress plugin for quite some time with excellent results. Adding a blog to our site helped generate additional traffic and improve our SEO. The install went smoothly and has been almost flawless. We had one small issue with modules not appearing on the index page of the blog. We contacted corePHP's support team and received a prompt reply with troubleshooting suggestions. When the suggestions did not help, their lead developer offered to take a look at our site to resolve the issue. In no time at all, he was able to correct the problem we were having (sh404sef had the wrong URL cached) and thing are running great again.

If you are contemplating which full featured blog component to go with, look no further than corePHP's WordPress Integration!

Having used another popular and very nice Blog extension for Joomla, I wasn't really keen to migrate to a new solution were it not for problems with my blog getting picked up by Technorati. I was not keen to uninstall my existing component and migrate my old blog entries to a new extension but decided to bite the bullet to install the Wordrpress integration for Joomla. The installation was a breeze and to my surprise, the setup process actually automated the migration of all the data and blog entries from my old blog extension, to get me operational in no time. What's more when I then retried claiming my blog at Technorati the process was successful and without any hiccups. This extension even gives me the ability to ping multiple blog directories automatically, which was not available in my prior blog solution.
I did experienced some early issues with the new blog in Internet Explorer but the support team helped me pick up the fact that some erroneous code was entered into the HTML ( I think pasted from Microsoft Word) of one of blog entries, which was causing the problem. As soon as I rectified that, everything worked seamlessly. I love this extension and it’s certainly worth the small investment. It will now be my blog extension of choice for all my future Joomla deployments.

This extention is as great as its support! It is easy to install and runs perfect right from the start. I had only one problem, concerning the comments, but corePHP provides a support ticket system and reacted fast and professional, so that this was fixed immediately.

There is also a support for wordpress-plugins, because these must be modified to be able to run under wordpress for Joomla. At the moment, 18 plugins are offered for download. Additionally, a video explains how to do the modification by yourself, and there is a wish list too, so that you can tell, which plugin you need most.

I use this extention as some kind of pinboard as part of a quite complex closed community website. Actually its a shame to use wordpress for such a small benefit. But the build-in blog of Joomla did not fit my needs and the corePHP wordpress integration offers the possibility to configure the whole thing according to my individual needs. I am still facing some problems which derive not from this wonderful extension but from my claim, to adapt my Joomla-configuration to wordpress. But I have no doubt to be able to solve them - perhaps with a little help of the forum of corePHP or the support.

To summarize: amazing idea, amazing extention, amazing support!

I bought this component some time ago, but only recently got around to installing it. I added it to a test site without issues, but when adding it to a production site, problems started popping up.

I submitted a support ticket and they've been working with me well to resolve the issues I faced - which were minor - and related to my server configuration.

Rafael and this CorePHP extension comes highly recommended.

A cracking extension that provides the ultimate in power for a CMS, linking the ease and breadth of Joomla with the mighty blogging power of Wordpress.

I had a couple of issues that needed some support but Rafael was quick and courteous in helping me out. Would be good to see a sitemap plugin to help with search engines but I have faith that the team will continue to develop this.

Highly recommended.

When I write reviews for components, it's either because I've had a terrible experience, or a fantastic one.... In this case it was the latter.

Wordpress / Wordpress MU is probably the most complicated bridge ever created for joomla - i've used quite a few myself, and nothing matches the scale of this - the developer must be an inspired coder to have made this work.

This component let's you actually use wordpress or wordpress MU inside joomla - the full wordpress.... the worlds best blogging platfrom pretty much with all the features intact.

I do have to say that if I my knowledge were as it was 2/3 years ago, I would have fallen flat on my face and would probably be writing a complaining review instead.

I've got lots of experience with joomla and I've got basic css/html/wordpress - and to get the most out of this component - you need it.

The basic themes that work out of the box are very basic - there is a video showing you the methods involved in modifying a template, but again you need quite a lot of knowledge of php/html to translate what they're telling you for the template you've chosen.

I've spent probably 8 hours getting the wordpress template to match the joomla template, and it was a tough job - but it does look fantastic now.

The reasons for it being tough are as follows;

Wordpress templates are made by lots of different people - each template can include javascripts, use ccs selectors that are already in use in your template, contain backlinks and just contain bad code that might not look right in your browser.

There's no way the developers can possibly help people modify templates for free, it's far too complicated, they probably can't even modify them and re-release them due to the 'permissions from the creators' issue.

I've got a joomla site with 3 wordpress blogs working and looking perfect - It's taken quite a lot of work getting it to look spot on (I am a bit of a perfectionist though) and I'm very happy with the result - I can't thank the developers enough - my favourite joomla component by a huge margin!

Tony Brown.

Install & Config was a breeze.

Had some css issues with my theme, and submitted a ticket. Support took a good 2 days to respond, but when they did, they took care of it.

Loving having Joomla! + WP
