Thanks for your kind words!
Thank you very much!
Perfect for any blog!!
Thank you very much! EasyBlog was designed from scratch to allow flexibility for site users to write blogs :)
The admin interface is very user friendly and very well explained.
Lot of functionnalities (categories, tags, comments system, social network integrations...)
The support is also great. I needed some technical help with customisation and my questions were answered fast and the answers provided were very helpful.
Thank you for the kind words! We are trying to improve on our support as we move on.
Thank you for your kind words!
Sadly.. After setting up a quick test, I noticed that the SEF integration did not function as expected. I submitted a support ticket and held my thumbs for an answer.
A couple of hours later, I had super friendly response and some questions. I simply submitted a JING reply and with 1 hour they had logged into my site and FTP and sorted everything out.
Not only is the support awesome - but the component itself is excellent. It's slick and does exactly what they say it does.
strongly recommend.
Thank you for the reviews. We have already resolved the SEF issues on our end and it will be updated with the next release.
Thank You!
First, the pros:
-Installed without a hitch
-Allows Joomla-naive users to start creating content immediately
-Provides a lot of useful features such as trackbacks, commenting, social integration. Everything you'd expect from leading blogging software.
-The themes are absolutely beautiful. This is really EasyBlog's strongest point - your blog will really look stunning and modern with EasyBlog.
-Support was quick to respond and as helpful as they could be, even when they couldn't resolve issues.
And the cons:
-Twitter is integrated, but the only way to do URL shortening is through TweetMeme integration. Why isn't there TweetMeme integration on the dashboard as well as on the post pages? I was unable to get a clear answer about this from the support team. The dashboard Twitter feature is broken without this functionality.
-User administration is a buggy mess. We have had constant issues with setting user permissions. It's unclear how EasyBlog-specified user permissions sync up with Joomla permissions. The stated user permissions don't seem to match up with which users are able to create, publish, and approve posts. There are multiple incorrect prompts on the dashboard telling users what they can and can't do, further adding to the confusion. We seem to have ironed out most of these issues, but the amount of time and effort it took was ridiculous.
-Updates will overwrite any theme customizations you have made. Luckily I anticipated this and backed my theme customizations up beforehand, but forgetting to do so could be a serious hassle.
-The "Continue Reading" link is really easy to miss as there are no obvious visual cues that there is more content. Why doesn't EasyBlog insert a link at the end of the intro content that clearly indicates that you are not reading the entire post?
-There is no integration with the built-in Joomla search module. I don't know if this is even feasible to begin with, but be aware that you will have to come up with your own search solution if you want to include blog content in your results.
-No XML-RPC integration. We wanted to be able to post from Microsoft Word, which is possible to do directly into Joomla, but there is no support for this in EasyBlog.
-The software seems prone to lots of small bugs and quirks on the backend. It's easy to tell this software is not nearly as robust and well-tested as other platforms such as WordPress or Tumblr. Although the support team is very helpful in fixing or resolving most issues, it's a hassle to have to deal with them in the first place, especially since you are paying for the software.
Although EasyBlog is far from perfect, none of the cons listed above have been deal-breakers, just mild to moderate annoyances. If you want a Joomla blogging platform with all the modern blogging features you would expect, and you want it to look slick, professional, and aesthetically pleasing, then you could do much worse than EasyBlog.
Hello jonpez,
Thank you very much for the in depth review :) I would like to point out a couple of issues here,
-Twitter is integrated, but the only way to do URL shortening is through TweetMeme integration. Why isn't there TweetMeme integration on the dashboard as well as on the post pages? I was unable to get a clear answer about this from the support team. The dashboard Twitter feature is broken without this functionality.
We understand this and this feature is actually coming up with the upcoming version of Easy Blog. We have added a url shortening service which uses bit.ly
Thank you for pointing this out, this is something that we may have overlooked in our permission management. We'll revisit the users management in the next version.
-Updates will overwrite any theme customizations you have made. Luckily I anticipated this and backed my theme customizations up beforehand, but forgetting to do so could be a serious hassle.
I have to agree with you here and we will work on release patches instead.
-The "Continue Reading" link is really easy to miss as there are no obvious visual cues that there is more content. Why doesn't EasyBlog insert a link at the end of the intro content that clearly indicates that you are not reading the entire post?
We actually leave this to you as a site admin or webmaster so that you can customize the themes however you want it. It could be a good idea and we've added this into our feature request list.
-There is no integration with the built-in Joomla search module. I don't know if this is even feasible to begin with, but be aware that you will have to come up with your own search solution if you want to include blog content in your results.
Sorry about these confusions but there is actually a Joomla search plugin which you can download from your account area. Once installed, when you perform the search it will also search for blog entries as well.
-No XML-RPC integration. We wanted to be able to post from Microsoft Word, which is possible to do directly into Joomla, but there is no support for this in EasyBlog.
XMLRPC is actually in our to-do list next. :)
We have actually improvised and restructured the backend since our first release as we find our initial design pretty complicated. We made it a lot more user friendly but if there are bugs or errors you can always drop us a line in the email and we'll be very glad to look into it immediately.
Thanks for the review!
That is NOT the case with EasyBlog. It installs quickly, is not bloated, intuitive to use with all the features a blogger could want. Even my "newbie" beta testers figured out how to use it with no help from me - and THAT is really the sign of well-thought-out software. It is completely Open Source, and its use of MVC means changing the appearance is not a brain burn. But it comes with some relatively attractive templates out of the box (again a RARITY for extensions) so I just picked one and ran with it - saving me even more time.
Stack Ideas, the producers of EasyBlog, are amazing. Not only is the product top-notch (just go use the demo - and yes, developers, your demo IS your sales pitch), but the support is even better.
Let me tell you how great this team is:
My site runs Mootools (have to, due to Joomla core), jQuery and Ajax. That combination is stomach-churning as any Joomla person well knows. And my case was no exception. In fact, EasyBlog ran into some serious issues in my frontend due to this unholy trio.
I shouldn't have worried - Sam was on the case. He literally troubleshot my site off and on over the last WEEK to pin-point the issue. Turns out the problems were due to a couple of plugins. One I can live without until a replacement comes along. The second actually loaded jQuery in my frontend, so that HAD to get replaced (as for some reason it didn't properly resolve my Mootools and jQuery conflicts. Fortunately, there is the SC Query plugin (right here for free at the JED) that when installed completely resolved all such issues.
Because of Stack Ideas, my beta testers are happy and my site will launch on time.
I cannot speak highly enough of this product or its team. Go. Buy. NOW. You will NOT be disappointed.
Hi,
Thank you very much for this great review!
Hi,
Thank you! We will definitely try to improvise!
This component is so easy to operate and capable of doing so much that I can only take my hat off to these guys, but more importantly, I have the confidence to know that any query will be dealt with quickly (this makes a huge difference as to whether I make any further purchases from a company).
I would say that it is about 95% perfect for what I use it for. I did ask about creating a mod for the latest comments which I feel is an important item (at the time they have a mod for the most commented comments - I have new comments not being displayed to my users). They told me that they would work on this in the future. With this mod and a few minor tweaks (ability to control what is and isn't displayed to viewers- like the read more and tag box at the bottom of the blogs, I was able to remove these by editing the EasyBlog files), this system would be 100% perfect for what I use it for.
Since my purchase I have seen two updates to the EasyBlog system which shows their commitment to supply a quality product to their customers. I have also read the entire EasyBlog forum and found that they have helped everyone.
I am very confident that the guys will follow through and help make this system perfect in my world!
I am very happy with EasyBlog and recommend it highly!

Within half an hour of submitting my support ticket, Sam had got back to me and the problem was solved.
I have recently paid much more for a component and waited for over a week to even receive a response!.
And it's a great blog component as well - my client is delighted.. : )
Keep up the good work - this is what Joomla is all about - everyone supporting each other..
Thanks again from the UK
The support was excellent and immediate. The problem was solved within less than 24 hours.
I was very impressed. The component itself works well, and is easy to learn.
I dont usually submit reviews but the support deserves it.

I purchased this component this afternoon on something of a whim - I've used other commercial blogging components but fancied a change, and I am really glad I went for it!
The installation was very simple and configuration was easy (even without looking at the manual!).
I had a couple of problems with my template - nothing major but one of the menus right aligned when I was in the component, and some text was being echoed into the screen. I had a fix and response for both within half an hour, with assurance it'll be in the next update release of the component.
I take my hat off to the developers, they are certainly leading the way where all others should follow in terms of listening to their users, fixing even little niggly issues almost immediately, and being both friendly and courteous in the process.
Thank you for your feedbacks.
