The main task for ContentBuilder is to structure Joomla!® content (articles) while preserving content layouts - but you can do a lot more with it, including:
* Classified Ads
* Contact Forms
* Article Submission
* Basic Communities
* Paid Content
* File Directories (Upload/Download)
* File Selling
* Image Galleries
* Extended Joomla! registrations, including Captcha and paid registrations
* List/Details views (Record Display)
* …or regular CRUD (create, read, update, delete) operations on your data.
Supports CSV Import!
Joomla!®'s article system is not replaced. ContentBuilder provides list/details views by default that can act as administrative panels. It also creates regular content items if desired, which you may use on your site just like any other content -- without the need of core replacements.
Additionally, you can use ContentBuilder to control user permissions for several actions, such as content access, content editing, rating, article parameter settings, publishing, etc.
ContentBuilder provides a well-defined plugin infrastructure to enhance its capabilities:
* Content (extended ratings, image resizing, downloads or any other content plugin available)
* Form Elements
* Form Validation
* List Actions (select records and perform actions on them)
* Verification (think of payments and coupons)
* Themes (yes, even themes are pluggable)
There is a variety of plugins that ship with ContentBuilder already, such as PayPal payment, image resizing (thumbnails, modal details), downloads, list actions and common form validations. Plugins and modules like Advanced Search, Videos and Article Selection Form Element are available seperatly from download page.
ContentBuilder offers an easy-to-use integrated form builder that can operate on the data source of your choice.
For our BreezingForms fans, you might be interested to know that it also integrates perfectly with ContentBuilder (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/contacts-and-feedback/forms/4709).
*** NOTE: version 1.0 is in the works. The current version may be used in production already ***
Great extension, you should try it, specially with breezingforms and you'll see how many things you can do in such a short time and little effort.
CrossTec has done a great job with the content builder. The component is installed after a few steps and with the tutorial video you can step by step equal to celebrate his first successes. I have tested several other such components but right after installation, I was struck by the 1000 options and I was frustrated. Certainly Content Builder've found a lot more than I up to now but for the start it is enough for me. Also, there is certainly still optimization potential at one place or another but this is also a matter of taste. Anyway, I'm super happy and the component can only recommend it to anyone who is also looking for a simple, free and powerful component!
Thanks to the developer
- Look into the email templates... It sent raw template code. Using a single field in the subject line, did work - all else was raw template code, including the hide-if stuff.
- A solution for nested / linked data was hoped-for because it would have completed this system. E.g., tags usable in views to include another view.
If I'd found solutions to these two items, I'd be using ContentBuilder for a trouble ticket system. As it stands, I have a long list of medium-priority UGC ideas which ContentBuilder is _perfect_ for, and I'll be watching for updates.
Kudos for having a manual :)
If you are not a developer and not yet really sure how you want to get your communities more engaged with your content, then you need to look at this.
Just take some time to read CBuilder's documentation, it might expand your horizons.
I was searching for a component to show data of a CSV or similar using always the same template. It does it really great and quite easy. Only small difficulty: configurations are not central and sometime I still have to search where to configure some special things.
I also had contact with the support. The answers were very competent and the crosstec-employee had a lot of patience.
After I`d installed Content Builder it was very easy to set up the lists and new database tables. The extension works great after it is configured.
Then I´d some problems with the set up of the views in that way we need it. The Crosstec Team and DJ were very helpful to solve my issues.
Thanks a lot for your assistent!
This extension is free, very flexible, very light, has advanced search, has CSV import and with just with a tiny bit of PHP, SQL and CSV you can make a huge database in a day!
Really great, I want to thank the developers for the great work, keep it up!
Content builder really just nails it across many areas. It is a little daunting at first as there are many options but if you take the time to get used to the software the possibilities are endless.
The developers are quick to respond to any changes in Joolma which happen regually.
The component is free but you can subscribe for extra support.
Even without a subscription the developers are quick to respond to any questions or problems you may have. It is rare to see a question go unanswered.
I intend to stick with Content Builder well into the future for my website needs and cannot wait to see where the developers take it.
Content Builder is sort of like a CMS with your CMS, truly a work of art.
