ClientExec Bridge

- This extension requires registration to download.
ClientExec Bridge, a native Joomla 1.5 component, is a bridge between Joomla 1.5, ClientExec billing software, and cPanel/WHM. It is targeted mainly towards web host providers, but could be used for anything ClientExec can be used for. Joomla 1.5 and ClientExec are required, cPanel is optional.
If you had problems in the past, please take a look again, most if not all of the bugs have been fixed now.
I just an installation of ClientExec 4.0.9 and it even works with that. Surprising considering there hasn't been any development on it for quite some time.
If you've followed all of the instruction and it still doesn't work then your hosting probably doesn't have mcrypt installed. It's not the components fault.
But as far as integrated the clientexec insterface into your joomla templated site... it doesn't do that.
Using the login module it opens a new window to the clientexec pages and it will log the user in. Like it's supposed to.
The component does have some promise, it's a shame it seams as though it's a dead project.
It does NOT allow you to bring the features and functions of Client Exec into your Joomla! site - it only allows you to link the users and their passwords. How useful you find this I do not know, but to me it's a bit pointless given they're still going to have to do any admin in the Client Exec portal anyway.
You HAVE to use the CE Bridge user manager or you break things. You HAVE to use the CE Bridge login module (which is not compatible in any way with Community Builder btw).
The installation and administration documents are quite thorough, and most of the people leaving reviews so far probably didn't read through them thoroughly in my opinion.
The biggest disappointment for me is the complete lack of response from the developers on the forums or to bug reports/features, which means if you do come up against a problem (which I did), you can't expect any kind of support whatsoever.
A promising start, but I personally would call this early beta at best, and definitely not for use in a production environment unless you really know what you're doing and an fix any problems you come up against.
Issues with the componant working - from reading the publishers forums - seem to be associated with customers not fully understanding the system requirements necessary for the componant to work as described.
mcrypt MUST BE INSTALLED AND COMPILED INTO PHP - without it, the componant will not connect and share information properly with the database or store the passwords properly between the two systems. Not all webhosts have mcrypt installed and compiled into PHP by default.
I will have to say, however, that it does seem as though forum support for this product is dead. I have not attempted to submit a "support request" through the publishers support ticket system as I have not had a need to do so.
I recommend this componant to anyone looking to bridge Joomla usernames to the usernames that are created on the server when adding new clients through ClientExec. There doesn't seem to be any other functionality or use of this componant other than that.
Development on this componant also seems to be stalled, there are no new updates as to its status or when future versions will be released.
Again, as long as customers follow the install directions, make the necessary source code adjustments to the Client Exec files, and ensures that their server meets the requirements - you will NOT have any issues with this componant.
Give RC2 a try, I believe most if not all of those bugs have been fixed now.
