- This extension requires registration to download.
Forum and site must be on the same domain. You can use the forum in a usual way or wrap it in Joomla as a component and browse the forum without reloading a page.
The bridge includes the following features:
* no changes of Joomla and phpBB core files required - easy to install and upgrade your system
* manage forum configuration and forum users from Joomla admin panel
* transfer users between Joomla and phpBB preserving their profile data including CB avatars
* full support of Community Builder (additional CB plugin installation required), ability to assign CB profile fields to the forum ones, avatars synchronization, Forum tab in the CB profile
* wrapping forum in Joomla as a component and browse forum without reloading a page (~1 minute phpBB template changes required)
Advanced synchronization options include:
* log user in phpBB when he's logged in Joomla
* log out user from phpBB when he's logged out from Joomla
* auto register Joomla user in forum when he's logged in Joomla
* change phpBB profile when changing in Joomla
* change phpBB password when lost in Joomla
* check phpBB for duplicate users before Joomla registration
* open new private messages pop-up window when log in Joomla
* log user in Joomla when he's logged in phpBB
* log out user from Joomla when he's logged out from phpBB
* auto register phpBB user in Joomla when he's logged in phpBB
* change Joomla profile when changing in phpBB (except linked to off-site avatars of phpBB)
PhpBridge is an excellent product. It was fairly easy to install however documentation could be a bit better. But when you just browse through the options things will start te get clear. Their support is good.
I installed these packages:
- Joomla 1.5.22 german
- community builder 1.2.3 german
- phpBB3 3.0.7-PL1 german
#1. When I set a forum user enabled in Joomla Backend -> Joomphpbb -> Forum Users the User is disabled in phpBB3 and shown in the components list "forum users" as disabled too. Does not really work.
#2. As second.
Joomla and phpbb3 was installed with the same username and password. There exist no chance to sync them with joomphpbb bridge.
When you try to insert the record by hand in phpmyadmin (table joomphpbb_users) the profile works fine and was syncronized with phpbb and shown in the components list "forum users" as syncronized as well. But when session expiried or when log out you are no longer able to login in frontend and backend in joomla and phpbb. There is no way to sync the installed admin accounts from joomla and phpbb.
#3. In phpbb3 you can set custom profile fields similar to community builder. But the component does not support to synconize these additional fields. Even not all existing fields in phpbb can sync by default.
#4. Manage forum configuration and forum users from Joomla admin panel do not support all settings available in phpbb3.
I am really disappointed by this component. For the money paid I would have expected a mature component. Price and quality are right here I do not feel. My only reason to buy this component was offered synconisation of the field of community builder and phpbb3. Good idea but not completely thought through.

I understand you might have experienced certain problems with setting up our component, but this isn't a reason to stop working with the software, but a reason to ask for assistance. We are happy to help you with the reported issues, but never received a feedback or info from you that would let us investigate them.
BTW implementing #2 request is only possible with a hack as there're a big difference in the profile settings. We stick to developing the bridge without any core hacks whatsoever.
Happy that i found an integrating solution for my site running in phpbb.
