If you are looking for a solution that will allow to unite your SMF forum (version 2.0) with Joomla without modifying Joomla/SMF core files unlike other 3rd party SMF Bridges and you'd like to have the opportunity to upgrade your Joomla in future then our SMF Joomla bridge component should suit you perfectly.
This joomla component gives an opportunity to perform two-way users synchronization of the systems listed below:
* Joomla administrator can transfer existing users from SMF to Joomla
* SMF new users will be added automatically to Joomla after Joomla authorization using SMF username/password.
* Joomla existing/new users are added automatically to SMF after Joomla authorization.
Autologin works only in case of:
1. http://www.yoursite.com/forum
2. http://www.yoursite.com/joomla/forum
User synchronization works in case SMF and Joomla are located on one FTP.
Forum and site must be on the same domain(it is recommended to install your forum inside of your Joomla's folder)
Once a user logs into Joomla site he is also logged into SMF.
User should login Joomla once to become synchronized with the forum.
I cannot believe my luck, I was about to give-up on the idea to join my existing Joomla site with the SMF based bb, after trying all other given options I was refereed to SMF Bridge by a friend who had been using it himself and voila it just worked as advertised.

One of my website is totally built with Joomla and I was having plans of setting up forums in it for more user interaction. But Alas i was to have users create new user account to post in it as the ACP was different for Joomla & Vbulletin / IPB / phpbb.
That time on joomla extensions i came to know of this bridging plugin from joomplace integrating easily with simple machines forum and that too a free forums script.

The instructions are easy to follow and the whole thing works seamlessly My Joomla setup is integrated with Simple machine bulletin board. just took my 10 minutes.
