The module can be flexible configured to works with different (users management) extensions (Community Builder, JomSocial, forums etc).
Note: DBirthdays is only module to show birthdays. You must use any extension (component) for users data.
Features:

It does exactly what it shows and promisse. You can choose either username or real name, birthday or full birthdate with age, etc...
However, I wanted to do something extra, like adding a calendar-like picture next to the name (with the day #) and couldn't figure a way to extract the day from $birthday_date - any help?

The more i'm trying to configure it, the more I see. Author just tried to match this module to many different languages and he did it. It can be used with hard polish grammary and it means he did awesome job. Rate for this module is simple. Best possible. The small things which i miss is Agora Olympus PM system support (but it's really easy to add it) and after request on his site we agreed it's possible to add this feature in next version. Also I miss title (Send wishes!) and style (vertical-align: middle) for example attributes for PM icon - but it's really easy to add it to the code. But again - the code and idea of this module is amazing!
I love this module and already have it installed on 2 sites. I had one small complaint, the output text was the wrong syntax for English. I asked about it in his forum, and he immediately replied, told me what to change, and said he would fix it in future versions. He even thanked me! That's what I call support.
WOW finally one that works!! Had some minor issues but read through the comments here and fixed it all!! WOW that was SO EASY!!

This is a very nice mod, works out of the box with community builder, my only criticism is it's a shame you cannot choose between showing name or user name.

It's wrong. You CAN show NAME or USERNAME, but you must configure the module yourself.
Set value of the parameter Field "Name" to 'username' instead 'name' (as by default set).
My members adored the birthday notification mod on my old J 1.0 site, so I was disappointed not to find one for 1.5. You have saved the day with this!! Your mod worked out of the box with CB! I just added back the cb_birthday field (and made easy edits to the ini file to remove user's AGE - I'm amazed anyone really wants to see that ;)) I am just thrilled!
This is a cool little module and is great for a website I'm making for a skating club so logged in users can see whose birthday is coming up.
As far as using INI-files to modify so the person's AGE doesn't show, I would sure appreciate some instructions on exactly where to look and how to make mods.

I think its a good module but it would be great if you could give the option to remove the display of the age of the person in a easier ways than hacking the language files, I think it would be neat to have that option as part of the module interface.

Every site very specific and it's impossible to make settings for everything. Using INI-files everyone can modify view as wish for different days.
Maybe it is not simple module, but universal.
This a great module to have and love the avatar support for it also.
I love this -- it's just what I want, but there should be a way to format what appears in the module.
I installed it on our site and it worked right away. However, I was horrified when I looked at the page and saw:

43 years old!
birthday was yesterday
I'm quite sure our members don't want the world to know how old they are-- we just want the birthdate! I can't find a support site to see if it can be configured this way.

This problem was solved, when janeinpa wrote me via e-mail.
You can rich modify output of the module by changing translation ini-file and setting date format parameter.
For this case solution was to set date format as "%A %B %e" and use in ini-file "%1$s — %4$s" for output.
