Had to add an event manager to one of our customers website - and sadly this was not my first choice. after trying out some other extensions, i came across EList and stick to it.
Setup worked ok (no problems encountered) and configuration was pretty intuitive.
The extension worked well for my customer and that makes me happy :D

I was so impressed at how easy to use this extension is! I like how the events are listed in table format--very easy to read on the screen. Even as a Joomla novice, I was able to configure all the settings to customize the software to my needs.

Thank you for this extension.

This component has a lot of potential but it is sabotaged by it's "Venue" requirement for every entry.

While the venue functionality makes sense for club promoters etc, it does not make sense for trade shows and smaller events which are either hosted in a different venue every year or are too small to have a "venue". Also for events like fairs a venue doesn't make sense as sometimes these fairs or gatherings are in parks or other public places with no normal address.

The separate venue option really only makes sense if you have recurring events happening at that venue.

While the "add event" functionality has a "no venu" option there is no way to enter an address, website or even a city or state.

My recommendation to the programmers is to make the Venue functionality optional and have the default functionality show an expanded "event details" entry form which includes the location information such as address, Contact info, website and map link.

Another thing I think could be improved is the list view. For the homepage, they only give you the option to list events with very basic information (title, date, time,VENU, etc.) or to go straight to a details view of a single event.

It would be nice to see something between the "simple list" and "details" view where you can show a list of events with say the event title, Location, image thumbnail and short 1-4 line summary.

And of course it would also be great to have calendar functionality built or at least a mini-calendar module that could be placed on the right or left side.

If they implemented all of that I'd be willing to pay $30 for this component. As it stands now I'm looking for a different solution instead.

I totally agree with Reyji, it is a great component, but just the fact that you have to go through all those steps to add a venue is very confusing. Why not just be able to enter a text of the city and country or address. It is very confusing for the average user.
Otherwise, it is a great component...
I was looking forward to using this module it seemed like exactly what I was looking for it looked nice and it displayed the events .... but in my opinion is not user friendly for the average user and the extra steps and effort to add the venue functionality was a big turn off. You have to go through the process of creating a venue to display the city and country when a simple text form to add the city and country would have sufficed.
Easy to set up, and exactly what I needed for our online event calendar. Works very well, and looks very professional. Google Maps interface was a welcome surprise. Great job!

OK, the one reason I don't rate this as excellent is because some functions I would like to have are not on it...yet. BUT! It is the best events/calendar componenet I've ever had. It doesn't compare to any other out there, in my opinion. If you have a lot of events and need to personnalize them, this component is right for you!

It's easy to use, nice looking and user friendly!

This extension is realy great, unless you want to use it on a multilingual website.
It is apparently supports joomfish, but when is really needed, it fails.
For example, the modules, that are showing the upcomming events, get the information, from the eventlist database, and not the joomfish database, so when the language is changed, the module shows the same entry which has been added in the eventlist, and not the translation from joomfish.
Or,when an event is set to reoccur, its simply copys the old event, it gives a new date, and thats all, but this way i have in joomfish a new entry, what i have to translate again, again, again, again...so i have lot of work!
In genaral the extension its great, but do not use it on a site with multiple languages...

Great product!!! And thanks for taking the time to develop this wonderful component. I have been using eventlist for 4 months, done a considerable amount of customization and is being used for a kids events website. Through testing I am certain this product will easily manage 1000+ events at a time.

Yes it would be nice if there was a way to toggle on/off whether to show future events but it should be noted that the component does exactly what is advertised to do. And repeating events do work! I have been able to generate newsletters from the backend MySQL database and an RSS feed from the eventlist component. I am not using this site for folks to enter their own events. Events are entered by the system admin of the site for information only.

The forums at Schul are very good. I was able to peform many changes to the PHP right from the forum.

Yes, you must enter venues from a seperate screen before the event but once the venue has been captured you have it forever.

Thanks so much for this absolutely great component and I look forward to seeing what Schul comes out with next.

I have decided for a free module, so I can adapt it to my needs - EventList showed the best for it! :)
Great work from the people at Schlu ;)

Great extension. I added EventList support in my Twitter Status 2.0 extension. It's great that we can connect technologies.

Everything about this module is functioning as expected in about 1 hour. I easily edited the CSS as needed to match the site and added the EventList Calendar Module Q to coordinate the calendar visual. Registration worked without a hitch. Thank you for this useful module.

This event list has the potential to be exactly what I need.

However, the recurring date function does not work. If you try to repeat an event by the day, week, month, etc, it simply does not work. The future events will only appear after the preceding event has expired. Pretty tough to plan for an event when you only become aware of it on the actual date.

Also, you are only able to set a time for an event using the military/ 24-hour time format. I know that this is kind of nitpicking, but nevertheless, my members have been complaining and aborting adding events.

Last, users have to input venue details in a separate window from event details if a venue is not already created. If the user writes the details for his event, then adds venue details, the user will be directed to another form and lose the event info. Maybe my users are kind of lazy, but this has ticked off a few and caused them not to add an event as well.

I really like this component, but until these areas are addressed, I am forced to look for another source.

This is fast becoming my preferred solution for calendars and events. With a little tweaking of template overrides, you can get RSS feed and iCal icons for your events - really powerful.
After trying many events modules this is the one i used for my new website : http://www.hkwodo.com/
The only limit is to be able to enter only a venue and a categorie and not a team for each events.

EventList installed without pain, it works like charm and haven't encountered a single problem since first installation. You need to make a link for Eventlist or it gives some PHP-error reports.

Overall I'd say; I'll recomend Eventlist to anyone who needs to inform their readers of upcoming events.
I searched a lot, and there are just very few eventmanager avaible.

This one works best for me, but for me it lacks some important features to get 5 stars:

* User registration for non Joomla users (I solved this by adding a link to simple caddy)

All again, this plugin works like advertised, and it works well.
Really, this component rocks! when I read the other reviews here (pretty dissapointing that some people wrote support type reviews for issues I had seen in the forum), I felt I HAD to write one myself! Eventlist is FREE & Christopher Lukes has done a fantastic job with this component... I just noticed another component released on joomla extension that boasts that it has features that no other joomla calendar has... (for 59 euros!) Well, thats correct somewhat, at the moment.

I had a need for a calendar that had multiple categories incorperated into it and I'm sure I am not alone. I would suggest that those that are looking for this feature as well as a full page calendar, recurring events (that works!) and more..., look no further than this component! These features are currently in the developement build of eventlist (which has always been available to the public BTW - read the faqs!)

Hopefully more people will become involved with this new developement version and contribute to the community - I'm sure you will not be disapointed.

- Good luck to the other developers that want to charge for a component that does not even come close to this one.

My thanks again to Christopher Lukes and the developement team at Eventlist for spending their valuable time to provide a full featured calendar to us all, for free.
Hi to all :)

Evenlist is a great tool. It enabled me to build an event planning tool which allows users to add/modify events and organizers to add locations like theaters, recordingstudio's etc.

I found no dutch translation for this tool so I made it myself.
