I was looking for a versatile and customizable Joomla calendar with an easy to use back-end for my clients. After playing with almost every available calendar extension JomCalendar became the clear choice...and at less than $29 it is really a bargain!
With some easy modifications to the CSS (and a bit of PHP hacking) I was able to blend JomCalendar seamlessly into my site.
And I can't say enough about their support. The corePHP team worked patiently with me to diagnose an issue and even helped me add a custom feature to the calendar!

Quality calendar components in my opinion are one of the weakest areas in Joomla. I've tried all the top rated calendars, and it sucks to have to pay just to find out if it does everything you need it to do...especially given some of the "Pro" calendar subscription pricing out there.
There were some things about this component that took getting used to. A way to submit/create calendar entries from the front end would be nice.
All in all, for the money, it's really hard to beat. I paid ~$59 USD (per site) and was pretty satisfied...now I see it is listed for $28.95 which makes it hard to turn down for what you get.
One thing that really makes this product a worth while purchase is the prompt support and ticketing system if you do need help.
I have no problem in recommending this as a solid solution to your calendar needs.

I bought this because I thought it had more features than jCal Pro. Quite the opposite is true.
Although it does feature some fancy interface design and the Timeline view is VERY cool, it's lacking some very basic features, like being able to disable month/week/day views (necessary if you have 20 events every day!), setting a default landing page, etc. In fact, the back end is so absent of settings and options that I re-installed the component thinking that something went wrong! You can set the date format for everything, but that's it. Also missing is ical .ics export, and a simple sortable table view for all events in the back end.
Overall, I don't think this is worth the (non-refundable) price. It costs the same as jCal Pro and has a fraction of the features. I gave it 2 stars because of the neat drag and drop style interface on the back end and the Timeline view.

This is present in the params area of A) Component or B) Menu Item (this overrides the component params) : Show week, show Month, etc, etc

This is done when you create a menu item, in the creation phase of a menu item you can choose which view to land on. It is suggested that you always use menu items to deploy a component as opposed to direct linking, you have more functionality then.

This can be in many ways achieved using the Flex module that is shipped with jomCalendar.

I have used many of the calendars offered on the JED and this is by far the best one available. It is very easy to use and completely customizable.

I got jomCalendar and I am loving it. Super EASY to use. Who would have thought a calendar system can be so easy to use in Joomla. Here are some great features I see in jomCalendar and love using:
- Google Integration - Oh yeah this is sweet. I can now pull maps into my calendar. Totally kick butt. This is great for my tour shows. Now there is a map for your audience to see where the event is at.
- Multi Module - I am going to have to sit down and play with this alot more then i have thus far cause plenty of options to customize this.
- Backend of the calendar system - The backend is just so easy to use and clean looking.
I am glad I got this component and soo looking forward to the future releases of what 'corePHP' releases.

I think like many other Joomla! users on this topic. Give us a proper calendar! And the guys at corephp heard us. It is a few hours ago now that I have installed this calendar and after playing around with it, I am quite excited to say that it fits the bill for several clients that we have. Going to exchange their old calendars with the new jomCalendar.
