Cool jQuery Countdown Module

A cool jQuery based countdown module. Works great for Events, Under Construction, etc.

2 versions.
Light version demo: http://ofertaweb.ro/demos/cool_jquery_countdown/light/
Dark version demo: http://ofertaweb.ro/demos/cool_jquery_countdown/dark/

Carefull:

- make sure you have enough width/height when you publish this module.
- if you already have jQuery loaded and you get bad results just remove the line where jQuery is loaded

We didn't made this extensions, we just port it to joomla (with prior written permission from the original author)

Went through a couple countdown plugins and custom solutions (including the littlewebthings project that this is a port of) this was by far the easiest to implement and use.

I'm curious as to how I would stack the Days (I commented out the weeks in the .php file to omit them) next to Hours, Minutes, Seconds. Toy with the CSS file?

The best countdown extension I've seen. Easy to install and configure. However, I would really appreciate if I can get it to work in Chrome and Safari... Thanks in advance

I had no issues getting it into Joomla. The messages would not update in the admin area, but I wanted to remove them anyways, so I just edited the code to do so. Also removed the CSS for the message information.

Main concern is with Chrome. I see that your demo site works fine. Only thing I have changed in the code is the above mentioned removals and the size/position modification of the elements so it didn't take up the majority of the webspace. Feel free to look at the site and let me know how I can help get this working in Chrome.

Thanks and great work!

Hi, I really love the countdown module. It works fine in FF and in IE but there aren't any digits in google's crome browser.

Your demosite looks fine and shows every digit, but not mine ;o(

Thanks for this,
klemens

I love this module and it works perfectly on my site. Incorp'd the css classes in to my standard style to stop any conflicts.... job done!

Im a bit of a newb to all this.... is there anyway for it to display years and months for dates in the future? Mine is countig down to my wedding in 2012, so is like 66 weeks at the second!

Thanks
Dom

it has been so long since i published this module that i don't know to answer you right away.

probably yes, if you hack the .js files a little, make a new image with years..

i would gladly work on this update, but I don't have any time :(

Great module, works very well and looks amazing. Good job.

I've implemented it in a couple of sites, works well in some cases, but messes up the site formating in others (headings get messed, alignment breaks, etc..). Probably jquery conflicts of some kind.

Overall a good solution with a great look

Thanks.

more like css conflicts to me. you can try to modify the css files with unique names.

The dark countdown is pretty cool, but the light one is way better and much better suited for the Corporate Website that I'm working on.

I wanted to hang it in front while it's under construction, however as the other reviewer mentioned, and showed with his screenshot, the numbers are displayed outside of their boxes in Firefox, and not displayed at all in Safari or Chrome.

Please could you let me know if your planning on fixing this issue, otherwise it might be wise to take the light version out of this extension as it's severely flawed.

The dark one is very cool though for a personal/hobby site.

Well, I your review would have been 5 stars I would have send the new version on your email. But for 3 starts.... "It might be wise" for you to learn some css/js and fix it yourself.

regards etc.

After a quick research I've found out this is the best looking countdown. I just need simple countdown in a sidebar. And this is what I got after installation: http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/9985/newsletterb.jpg

It's always good when somebody makes an effort to share with his work. But this is just useless, not only too big to make it usable, but it also doesn't display correctly.

It's always good when somebody makes an effort to make a print-screen of the bugs. I guess I'll have to release a new version...
If you see version 1.5 it means it has been upgraded.

Probably the best countdown script on the internet.

It does not seem to work for me though. What ever i type in the Target fields in the module parameters nothing changes on the page.

This extension lacks sufficient instructions on how to set up the module in Joomla.

Many thanks
Owner's reply

thank you.
you are the first that reported this problem...
I assure you the extension is working. It doesn't have "instructions" because it's pretty straightforward. Install, configure date/time/messages and publish... simple as that.

give me an e-mail with link and i'll give it a look.

Really beautiful layout, conflicts with something that changes the font in the menu, and needs a lot of space
Owner's reply

i already said in the description that it needs space...

conflicts with what ?

why 3 stars for a free extension ?... go make a countdown yourself and I'll review it for you.
