Efemerides ComponentModule

This is a very simple extension to manage historical events. Each historical data must be feeded manually via the component's manager. It provides the same functionality as the component found here(http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,4057/Itemid,35/) but implemented for Joomla 1.5 Due it's simplicity it can be useful to people who wish to learn how to program modules and components in Joomla.

The most simple version is 0.5b. The most recent versions are a little more complex.

If you downloaded the version 0.8b and show some warnings in the module. Please download again the component and the module, because the first upload has an important bug on both extensions.

The version 0.9b only works in Joomla! 2.5.

This is a very good extension. Easy to configure, easy to modify. I was able to modify this extension to display anniversaries instead of historic dates, although it took me a while; I have been using Joomla! for a little more than a year but am a newbie to PHP. Excellent display in all browsers except IE 8. Neither the component nor the module display well in IE 8. If I could find a way to fix this then I would give it five stars. I love the way that it works in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

This is nice extension, I wanted to give it 5 stars. Unfortunately it has no support at all: none of the messages sent to the help forum (and there are 5, all sent in the last 9 months) have received an answer (I opened a case a few days ago and I'm obviously still waiting for an answer).
And the bad news is that there are some bugs.
So my opinion: if this works for you the way it is, that's terrific. If not, look for something else.

I would like to say thanks to you hermes for this extremelly usefull extension. I was looking for something like this for years, so i wouldnt need to install CB just to pull birthdays right away.

It does exactly what is says.

I would rate this 4 stars becouse i hardly need a category feature in this extensions to be perfect, but once it does what it says it deservs the 5 stars.

Hermes, please make a new release with a categorization feature for the births/events then your extension will have a jump in light years.

Thanks to Hermes for this fine component. And also for his kindly and fast support. JED offers many calendars and event tools - most are equal in function. But this component is really unique and the one and only I looked for a long time. For all, wanted a historic event calendar, it is a must.

I've been using this on my site since it opened, and it is great! When I had questions and/or reported bugs, Hermes was quick to respond back and fix!

I look forward to his future improvements. Good luck Hermes and Thank you!

Hello,

Wonderful idea to develop this component / module!!

Perhaps in the future to build in the ability to select sections and / or categories by ID.

Also admins must have the ability to exclude certain articles.

Keep on the good work!

I use this extension on one of my sites and i want to say its working good. No problems at all. But i have a one question - how about Joomfish files?
Owner's reply

I didn't know about the JoomFish extension, but I read about that, and may be in a future release this component will have support for it.

Thanks for doing this component. Nice and basic.

One thing I would like is the ability for people to submit events to help speed up the process of entering archiving dates.

Other than that little idea I really like your component and module.

Thanks for bringing this "history-component" to Joomla 1.5!
After upgrading to 1.5, TIH didn't work that well for me.
Maybe for future version: date-formatting, sql-upload.
