I haven't really put it through all of its paces, and I don't know if this is the right place, but I think the only fault to this is the Venue part.
I understand that some event venues will be reoccurring, but a lot of events will take place in totally new and one time only places, so to have to set up a specific venue place that is going to be saved, and I guess stored, within its own area is pointless, cumbersome, annoying, time and space consuming. And yes, I understand you can go and delete the venue afterwards, but again...pointless, cumbersome, etc. etc. etc..
I think it is a nice feature, but you should definitely be allowed to include the location right into the event, rather than being REQUIRED to attach it to a venue you create somewhere else.
So basically have an radio that says something like, "included location", when you select that button within the new event, it then gives you the option to type the location/venue to that event right there if it is going to be a one time shot. And if you select "stored location" radio, then you choose from the venue section that you've made. I think that makes things easier and better logistically.
Also, the military time thing is a real drag. Nickinglis, could you show how you changed that?
Other than that, great great app.

Great right out of the package. I taught a 65+ year old woman how to add events into this component. It's that easy. I changed some of the variables in the module so that it wouldn't be in military time.
I've only been playing with this calendar for two minutes and it's a beautiful thing!!!
Seamless to install, configure, and make available to my users.
Sweeeeeet!
The previous reviewer was asking about being able to edit an event, and you can. Just select the event and then, well - 'edit' of all things (smile).
Love the integration ability with CommunityBuilder and Google maps - so far - loving it.
Switched to this after beating myself to a pulp trying to get EventCal configured and working correctly. The forums here don't have much info on EventCal and I *hate* trying to squeeze anything useful out of Source Forge's forums....
So, I'm delighted to switch!
Only "waah" I have so far, would like a more graphical calendar like presentation.
Also loving that users can 'register' for events.
Thanks...

This is a great component. Easy to install, great to work with and for what I need the perfect layout.
But it lacks one feature that I need.
I am setting up a Christian joomla site that needs a list of talks, and venues. Eventlist does this fine.
Unfortunately the talk titles often need changing nearer the event. As far as I can see eventlist allows you to add new events from the frontend but not delete or change events from the frontend.
What a shame! A great addition to joomla but not one I can use. (Believe our members would not cope with the joomla backend.)
Anyway, if you don't need this feature then try it out.

This extension is off to a great start. Many seem to be complaining about the Venue (location) system, but it is the exact reason why I chose this extension as I have multiple events occuring over and over at the same locations. I hope that the author continues to update this, or that I can learn to make some changes myself:
A couple things I could use:
- Ability to have an event occur every X days during a week, month, or year - this way I'm not having to the same type of event (i.e. Ladies Night) each and every time it occurs. The time saved by not having to enter all of the venue info every time is lost by having to enter the event multiple times.
- Calendar/Mini-Calendar View
Other than that it is great!

Generally this event module is cool because its small and does not have all the fancy overhead the others habve - but it lacks flexibility which drives me mad!
I do understand the need for a catergory.
I do not understand the need for a venue - this stuff should really be optional - it only annoys me when I have to fill in this morover I have many many diferent events were I do not know the exact venue beforhand. Of course I could fill in a venue like "-" with a city like "-" but anyway when the evetn is displayed is looks really messy and I am pretty disaponited that I would have to again hack this module that it fits the basic needs.
Only the title, the date and the category of the event should be mandatory everything else is not necessary and should be optional!
The fact that you lose your event when you do not have defined venues and categories before is a severe drawback of usability! Solution: save it as a "forced upublished" event util category is set. I don't see the venue as a useful option.
The parts which are not filled out should not be displaed in the html presentation.
Since this module is in a too early stage of being useful I have to rate it quite poor.
Anyway - with more felxibility at the points I mentioned before I would like to use it and I think it has a great potentail o be a small and easy to use module.

Out of ALL of the event components, this one seems to be the most suitable without the 'overkill' of the others.
However, there are still some fundemental things missing (such as event duration) and the 'latest events' module isnt that flexible (it doesnt even include a link to view all of the events). It is easy to rewrite parts of the module though to do all of this.
Its a shame that the component forces the user to select a location (which has to be entered first in another section which is painstaking and overkill - for me anyway). Again, an easy hack to get round which makes this a cracking component which is easy to administer for my clients (unlike some of the other event packages).

This module really has the potential to be one of the best calander / event list for Joomla! It is easy to install and easy to use.
I'm using the eventlist in dutch and there are still some small translation errors, but nothing to worry about!
I really hope the developer will continue his great work, so Evenlist can grow to a professional solution to list all kind of events!
Thanks so far and keep up the spirit!

A wonderful module totally let down my the compulsory 'venue' field. I'm uncertain why this was ever created? Even if just used for gigs there's literally 1000's of possible venues so why have a drop down list? FAR better would be to have the venue field as a simple text field or at least the choice of it being so.
I was looking for an event list, and this seems to be just the ticket. Installation was simple and easy. I use it for exhibitions and shows – not music gigs.
I opted for the ‘event list’ option on the front page listing as opposed to listings by category – but then again my event list is small at the moment.
The backend is simple to understand and seems to do everything you expect it to in the settings. I have not had any nasty surprises with this component and look forward to any future versions or enhancements.
At present, it does not show multi-day events, but that was easy to get around by putting ‘This event spans over X days’ at the top of the event description.

This is an excellent component still in its infancy. It integrates well with Joomla as well as Community Builder / Joomapolis and provides an excellent means for the community site to integrate greater. For multi-day events as well as well as events such as races that take place under several race promoters throughout different countries and at locations that really do not have a specific address, it sucks. For this, I am in favor of EXTCalendar, which actually has a calendar, but then again, EXT Calendar is heavy and doesn't integrate as thoroughly. I'll see what I can do to tailor Event List to my liking and wait for added features as it grows.
Hi. Thank you for this real amazing Component.
I was looking for a Calender and Event Component. I have tried some but nothing was as good as EventList.
Great Job.

I tried all the calendar extensions for Joomla, but keep coming back to this one. I especially like the way it cross references events with locations. Another favorite feature is how it allows members of community builder to register for events. It works great for me, and I look forward to future versions for even more bells and whistles!
I've been using this calendar on my site for a month or so now, and am very pleased with it. I don't seem to have the same "It's for gigs only" view. I use it to keep track of motorcycle events on my site at http://www.delmarvamotorcycling.com and I couldn't be more pleased with it
This component works well but takes some configuration to get things going. For example, for every event, you must have a location configured into the system, which sucks for events that take place in foreign countries or even for general events such as birthdays. I concentrate on off-road racing and found it difficult to list an event that does not take place at a specific city. Because of this issue and the configuration involved, I chose to stick with EXTcalendar, which is far easier to use and configure. One thing in Event List's favor is the fact that it is lightweight and the Joomla search function searches the events as well.
