Joomla! 1.7, 1.6 and 1.5 native helpdesk application with built-in knowledgebase. Inspired by open source Liberum ASP-based helpdesk (www.liberum.org).

Features:
* Integrated Knowledgebase - cases can be sent to the knowledgebase by setting a flag on the case
* Users can view progress on cases and submit additional information
* Users can upload and attach files to cases
* Built-in reporting shows time spent on problem categories, departments
* Login and authorization integrated with Joomla! users table
* Non-registered users can open support cases (optional)
* All case management and reporting is done via front-end, meaning support reps do not have to have back-end access

Thanks to people on the Huru Helpdesk Support Forum, there is an upgraded release that works with Joomla 2.5! Even though the owner and developer seems to have gone AWOL since late summer of 2011 work is progressing.

Look for com_huruhelpdesk_0.89.03.zip in the thread "'Save ticket' not working in Joomla 2.5"

I too was sad that this useful extension didn't work with 2.5, so I started looking around (even at the commercial extensions for helpdesks) but none was in par with this little gadget.

I needed it as a reservoir of tickets for problems and a To Do collection for decisions by the board of a small NGO. This isn't the intended use, so I have a few needs for tweeks, but nothing that is stopping the use of it. I hope to be able to fork it toward this use somewhen soon.

Super component ! but unfortunaly is not working properly under 2.5.4 You cant save any changes. However, some fixes you can make in either de Dbase or the admin/installhuruhelpdesk.sql located in the zip package. Any idea when and if this is fixed ?
Even though this issue i find it worth a good rating.

This looks like a great product and I'd really like to use it. However, it does not work in Joomla 2.5.1. There is much discussion of this in the website's forums but the author does not seem to have taken notice.

It will install fine in 2.5.1, but it does not save any configuration changes.

From what I can see, the developer has put a lot of time into a great product. I hope this issue gets resolved soon.

how ever if you want to use it for 2.5.2 version of joomla you have to download the com_huruhelpdesk_0.89.03.zip version from its forum site! this is not a registered version. just members of site uploaded it but it's working great.

Except for a few things to get fixed to make it look better I found this to be one of the best if not the best non-commercial help desk ticketing systems!

I have been using it for quite a few versions and must say with the help of the docs on their website I was able to get up and runnig quickly.

There has only been one or two negative feeds backs I have had about it and the layout but all up it seems like I would prefer this over any of the others... fantastic work!

Its great. Had been running on 1.7x and now, upgraded some fixes to J2.5.x.

App is great and no problems with users. Love all the records kept together and accessible in knowledgebase.

Some people here need to get their acts straight. FREE is FREE and its great. You want a much better app, YOU PAY FOR IT... Its Free, dont complain. You dont want it, just uninstall it and PURCHASE a COMMERCIAL one. As if you get a better deal from some commercial versions ...

Huru took all his time and made a good and FREE extension for us. If you want it better, submit your codes and changes so it can improved instead of sqwalking around...

I tested this component in my project locally and online works perfectly, no bugs so far, easy installation it must be remembered also download the addon very useful to synchronize users with those of Joomla.

I downloaded and installed this. Did what it said till I tried to use it. Couldnt get it to pick up the template that I made for Joomla and displayed nothing but white boxes. So had to be uninstalled. Sorry. Appart from that the back office was what i was looking for.

Working from a Joomla 1.7 installation... I have to say that the concepts behind this software is off to a good start, however, choppy english in some of the public facing componants, and inability to seamlessly work within the non-default joomla installation template leaves this componant with a lot to be desired.

Internal configurations are difficult to understand, CSS is not consistant, and many tables in the underlying code are not closed properly leaving some text to run off the screen at times.

We placed this componant live on our "Beta Testers" website to allow our 100+ Member Beta Team use the software to not only report to us problems during beta testing, but to give us their take on the help desk system...

we recieved several emails from people who just could not get the system to actually work, or felt that it was so much more easier to send an email to support or call, then spend the lengthy amount of time to submit a ticket through this system.

Another issue we had was that the forms are heavilly insecure, and subject to easy bot attacks... so much so, that we actually had to disable the system after only 3 days in use due to the huge amount of Viagra/Cialis and Fake Rolex ads we recieved into the system.

They have a good idea started, but it still needs a lot of work before they can even consider this ready for use in a production environment.

This is a very good component. The problem is when you need support. I had two change some features to customized to my needs, but after many attempts to contact Huru Support you can see that there is no one to help you. I know it is free but at least you can reply by email saying that "We received your message but we don't have a solution for this issue at this moment" Or may be just point you in the wright direction. That is my only concern. In general it is a great component.

Installed and working first time within seconds.

Sure, it's not loaded with features but it's FREE.

Not sure why people give negative reviews because they can't install it or that it's not as good as some you can pay for.

But by far the best FREE helpdesk component out there.

I installed this item and came up with blank pages, even my users were having trouble submitting tickets. Not that it mattered none of my staff could view any submitted tickets. I do not recommend this system

From all the demos that I have tested (including other popular Commercial offering), this is the only one that supports registering every change that has been performed to the ticket. Change in priority, owner, etc. This is a must for any serious support ticketing application. I was considering using a stand-alone ticketing app, but looks like Huru fits the requirements very well.

Out of all of the help-desk add-ons, this one is the best for the price. It has a couple of quirks, but overall I really like it.

I just wish it worked with Joomla 1.6.x :(

Version 0.89.02 was just put into general release and is compatible with Joomla 1.7, 1.6 and 1.5 in a single installer package.

This helpdesk is ok. I wish the interface was better though.

The things I can't stand though is that you have to delete the problems one at a time. I wish there were checkboxes next to each ticket.

Also, you have to click on the problem/ticket in order to see what the problem# is.

Another thing I don't like is you can't configure SMTP settings. So you normally get your emails from yourdomain@yourdomain.com.

I really like how things are arranged and it works as advertised.

Just one thing: Don't use the word "problem". Please use "issue". "Problem" is a negative word no one should use in this context. Customers have no problems, they have issues to be resolved.
