Ambra

- This extension requires registration to download.
AmbraUM enables you to further categorize your users into user types (such as Buyers vs Sellers, Teachers vs Students), and collect information upon registration that is specific to their profile type.
As a front-end user, AMBRA enables your users to manage their user information, upload a profile picture, register additional information via your unlimited custom fields.
You can make any feature requests or have access to our SVN Repository by joining us here: http://projects.dioscouri.com/projects/ambracommunity
The FREE version of AMBRA UM has all of the above mentioned features, but the COMMERCIAL version has these additional features:
* Native User Points program, where users earn points for site activity
* Native integration with our PHPLIST bridge, so users can sign up for your newsletter upon registration
* Native integration with our AMIGOS extension, so users can sign up as an affiliate upon registration
* Native integration with Campaign Monitor, where users can choose to be added to the subscriber list of your choice on registration
* If you have installed the AllChimp extension (listed on the JED), your users can subscribe to any of your enabled MailChimp newsletters
We use AMBRA UM on Dioscouri.com to handle our user-registrations and login, so if you've registered with us, then you've seen the profile-select page and perhaps even uploaded your profile photo. And if you have visited since April, then you've also seen our AMBRA User Points Program in action. If not, then stop on by!
Cheers!
FORGET THIS COMPONENT and ALL THAT IT COMES WITH and DEFINITELY FOR "Dioscouri Design" - They are not worth there products if they can't provide simple support for THEIR OWN PRODUCT. I could understand if it was a HUGE issue like some in-depth code related issue... But C'mon. Simple thing like the Beginning of their component and module as registering and sending of emails, is Big in itself to the product, but SMALL as an issue! Enough Said! DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR BUY FROM THESE GUYS, EVER.
We provide the community with this extension (and several others) for free. We provide some decent documentation for free. We also provide a free user-to-user forum area, where you can ask questions for free.
Unfortunately, to have good developers that write good code isn't free. And our direct response support center staff also doesn't work for free.
You're more than welcome to use all the free resources but if nobody pays for any of this, then it won't be long until you have none of it.
Just to clarify ... the only thing we charge for is a support subscription. And for that monthly subscription you get unlimited issues/tickets while the subscription is active.
However, if you need features that aren't included in the package you will have to either pay for those features to be added or use the features that are available.
Feel free to ask us in advance (in the Support Center) if you are unsure if this extension will do what you need.
Maybe for those that are looking to invest significant time, this extension maybe worth using, but someone that like well documented plugins that work well out of box should keep looking.
It's a brilliant program that does exactly what they say it will...IF AND ONLY IF you do not have any other 3rd party plugins/modules/components installed that also want to use mootools.js. If you do...Ambra will not work and will only cause you headaches. Basically, it doesn't like to share mootools.js and won't work if it has to share that common javascript library with any other program.
Dioscouri charged me for a month of "support" to try to solve the problem (which I firmly believe they HAD to know about - how can they not know about an issue that large) with no results other than the obvious mootools incompatability issue. They basically ran the clock out on my purchased service time and then wanted more money to work on the problem THEY created. So...I say, "bad form" on customer service.
For those reasons I only give Ambra a "Fair" rating.
Just to clarify ... we never run "the clock out" on any support subscription. If you report a problem (even if it's one day before the subscription expires) we'll keep working with you to resolve that particular issue.
