DESCRIPTION

The Joomla component Winged Messenger is a comprehensive recommendation and invitation system.
Winged Messenger allows users to send recommendation-e-Mails to friends.
A template-system an a lot of configuration options allow individual adaptations to the needs of the webmaster.
In combination with the Plugin WMTracking (included in the Winged Messenger Pro 1.8 Pro-package) the recommendations will be logged. Users can check, if their invites are successful and the users visited the site or signed up. A detailed statistic is available in the backend.
With Winged Messenger Pro and the plugin WMTracking it is possible to permit registrations on the site only with a valid invitation code.
A corresponding plugin for the Community Builder is also included in the Winged Messenger 1.8 Propackage.

Winged Messenger is an awesome tool and extension whose value extends far beyond what is obvious on the surface.
The potential exists to use Winged Messenger as a viral marketing tool on your website and reward your members for sharing your site's products/services with people in their network.
This is better in my view than affiliate software because it allows the webmaster to create viral campaigns, track invites, signups and provide optimum rewards to the most successful inviters.
With the recent changes made to the software, you can also do sales follow ups with new invitees and begin meaningful conversations leading to new client acquisitins. The key that makes it work is that the initial invite is generated by a trusted friend. This is the best kind of word of mouth or referral marketing imaginable.
Daniel, the developer, has been openminded and receptive to my suggestions for improving the component so it can fulfill this potential.
If you are marketing any/product or service and want your existing clients to sell for you, Winged Messenger is a no brainer choice. Enjoy!

This was exactly what I was looking for to set up an invitation-only social network - a simple, easy-to-use recommendation system which worked out of the box and was easy to install (just disable SEF for this component if it misbehaves - this was the only hiccup).
The only problem was that the invitation-only functionality worked with Community Builder and I had opted for JomSocial. I contacted Daniel, the developer, about this and said I would develop this piece of functionality myself as the component was otherwise exactly what I was looking for. Before I had time to do anything, he went ahead and developed the native Joomla functionality, which gave me exactly what I was after - brilliant support!
Definitely 5 stars.

But, 'Invite-only registration' only working the CB. And CB is many problem components using with another components.

Since version 1.8.0 there is a native Joomla Plugin included in the package for enhanced tracking and invite-only-registration. There is no need to use CB for this features.
