ccBoard

A True Joomla 1.5 Native Simple and Good Looking Forum. Some of the major functionalities are moderations, community features, ranks, avatar, CAPTCHA, CB/jomsocial integeration, Bad words filter, SEO/SEF, IP logging, Post preview, Search Plugin, Latest Post Module, Popular Posts Module etc.. Finally a whopping 34 Language packs.
Note: This is not the place to report bug or request new features, please use the forum
I wish developers to work more on this release to make it more stable.
ccBoard has been equipped with Captcha support from the early realeases onwards to restrict spam. Please update to the latest release, this includes a more reliable secure captcha system.
Looking at the support forum, it appears that the admin/mod who created the "Announcements" board, has even removed their own account.
The whole support forum is virtually all spam now.
Shame, it had real potential. :(
Thanks again so so much!

Also there are a few features missing which are needed.
Ive swapped over to Agora now.
Other than that, its smooth, loaded straight off and is very easy to use.
Regards and thanks
Nice Job! Well Done.

There are some minor niggles: some of the avatars supplied are a bit odd, and I also find some issues with the styling. But overall it is a very good extension if you want a fairly basic forum system.
The problems? You are forced to get someone's full birth date, something most people don't want to give. Yes, it does default to today's date, but its confusing to users.
The thing for North American people is that the date MUST be YYYY-MM-DD and you can't change it even though there is a place to change it in the configuration.
What happens if you do change the date format? People are no longer able to save their profile or change their avatar. Yes, its true. It is major odd thing that date format controls functionality, but that's the way it is and it can be a nightmare.
The other main thing? No matter what width you set for the right margin, there is no word wrap so the first line goes on endlessly and unseen. When you save it the text pops back in, but what good is it if people can't see what they're typing?
The programmers only suggestion--use the default Joomla template. I don't think too many people will want to do that.
By the way, I checked as carefully as I could and it appears that the product owner has not been on the his own forum since November 2009. He used to answer questions there a lot, but he seems to be missing in action now.
This is a really good forum in many ways... but be careful before you fall in love with it.
in short, it does what I need and it integrates with community builder login smoothly!
i hope you stick around, i'd hate to switch due to incompatibility with joomla upgrades!
keep it up
When I first started using the board the designer Thomas was extreemely active in development but he raraley answers any quaestions on the support boards and it has been over 6 months sinc ethe last update was released.....thus I think you should only use this board if you are comfortable with tweaking and adding fixes yourself.
Having said all that it is an excellent component.
