I tried almost every newsletter component out there for Joomla and this one seemed to fit our organization the best. There are only two problems that I have found with Communicator - no centralized manual and inability to create a template. To the best of my looking around, I could not find a centralized manual. The forums are a very good source of finding information, but it would be nice to have the centralized manual. The templating is not a must have for me, but it would be nice. Currently, I just copy and paste the html code that I need to recreate. I know that templating ability is on the feature requests and I hope that the author will be able to incorporate this in the future. Overall, this is one of the easiest to use newsletter components out there and I look forward to seeing future versions that are even better.
very good component! thanks a lot. unfortunately, deleting a newsletter from frontend seems not to work... any ideas?

It would be helpful to use the support forum to report problems. Please open a defect to discuss your environment.

This is an exceptionally simple and effective newsletter system that easily deserves 5 stars but unfortunately, the presentation here doesn't do it any justice.
Not having used a newsletter option before, I was put off by the lack of documentation & demo (or screen shots), the download section was confusing and there was no way to pass word onto the developer - even their unhelpful remarks in the forum was a put off.
It was only after reading the reviews here and after trial and error that I found the correct file (module at the end of the download page) to install and configure it. By this time, the enclosed instruction had become superfluous.
The developers have certainly invested their time into making an excellent newsletter system but in return, they should not have to ask users to invest their time into guessing whether this extension might work for them.

Hallo.
The functionality of the module seems to be quite well & easy: so an "Excellent" for it.
The layout is not convincing: so an "Fair" for it.
"Name" is sitting beneath the button, and the text belonging to the entry fields is standing far to much above the fields itself.
Most often IT people are no specialists in graphic design nor in questions of userfriendliness. So, my advice: Sit together with some graphic & design & userfriendliness folks, and everything will be fine.

I am giving this an excellent review because this is exactly what I was looking for!! It allows me to communicate with all my users in one easy mailing!
You can use this and I will tell you that I also write modules for joomla, this one impresses me!!
Many Thanks for the GREAT work!

Easy to set up. Easy to use. Imported all of my Letterman subscribers from my old site without any problems what-so-ever, unlike other newsletter components. Everything works perfectly! Highly recommended!

Was looking for a newsletter manager for a website I was designing for someone that would be easy to learn and use for them. This is exactly what I was looking for. I was looking at a few others but decided to go with this one.

I installed v2.0.1 last night and received an error code when I tried to test it. I submitted a bug report and by noon a new version was released that worked perfectly! THe newsletter is easy to set up and easy to use.

I really loved this component at first, you can manage your newsletters from the frontend, but it does not work if sef is turned on...

fixed in V2.0.1. Give it a try

This is a great component, simple, fast and reliable. Everything works very well and I didn't have even one error message.
The best part is the way it handles html. I send Greek newsletter and they arrive perfect.
The only thing I'm missing, I don't know if I didn't find it, is to chose a link to redirect after the subscription confirmation, where I have the free download I promise them.

All in all this mod is exceelent - just one small glitch with the landing page:
once you subscribe you get to a page saying that you have been subscribed, but directly below it is a link saying please subscribe with a big green plus sign, and it then takes you to a page which seems to mimic the subscribe mod.
If possible I'd like nothing below the "you have been subscribed"....
suggestions?

The big subscribe button is removed in V2.0.1 released today. Have fun.

Installed easily (after I allowed writing to the media directory) and was easy to configure. Adding current database users was straight forward. The newsletter creation is very simple.
As stated in another review; if you add the subscription as a Module to the left or right column on your site, when submitting your subscription it will redirect you to the subscription page. This will probably confuse the user to think that they have to subscribe again. There should be an option to redirect to a different page after the subscription is complete.

This is a Good Component overall, but it lacks some thing that just goes under the nose..
Problem is a lot of people that are with certain Hosting Company's that actually put a email cap limit, for me its 500 emails per/hr. Now I have over a 1200 mailing lists from the members / users, So only about the first 400-500 users get the Newsletter/email and the rest never goes there.
Maybe this should have the option of letting us chose how many emails it can send in a hour.. so that in the end even after few hrs all the people get the mail's delivered,

Switched to Communicator RC3 from Letterman. It works great and the developer has been very responsive.
Import of old address lists worked like a charm.
Did a local translation which was added within a week. Subscribe/unsubscribe module makes it easy for my users (approx 1000 users) to participate.
Lots of thanks to the developer, and hope that he will continue to develop Communicator and add new features.

I have been using Communicator or about 4 of my sites now. Always installs and runs without a problem.
Just an excellent extension that is very simple and easy to use. Try it for yourself!
Thank you Developers AAAAA+++++++++++++++

I used letterman and switched to communicator. It has worked great in three of my sites, but I've been having trouble with the fourth that has a list of 17,000 addresses. It would hand and display a blank page (even with debugging) at about 600 and not proceed. I tried purging and re-uploading but kept getting no result, so I uninstalled (also deleted tables) and reinstalled. Get no errors but import subscribers does not import any.
I loved this when it worked, but still feel I do not have a universal and reliable newsletter solution. I look forward to future updates.
I would love to see better throttling support also, so I can just walk away and have it send in batches rather than have to click every few minutes to send bursts.
